Jennifer H I wanted to stop in a say that I will be helping Lizz and Dawn answer questions :)

Happy Reading Everyone!

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) I was thinkin of reading this: Ghost Story (The Dresden Files, #13) by Jim Butcher but I think the only points it has is a setting of Illinois. So..., going to see what else people come up with.

I will pick my book in a few

message 54: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) Well according to my TBR list here I have this: Paradise (Second Opportunities, #1) by Judith McNaught which is apparently set in Illinois and has stars on the cover.

But I think it might have gone to the thrift store with a bunch of books. I'll have to check when I get home from work.

message 55: by Mary X (last edited Mar 08, 2013 11:38AM) (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) So in trolling the other threads I see a book I picked up from the library the other day but haven't started yet. It's worth 9, possibly 11 pts. I know it's on the serial shelf and set in Chicago. Not sure where the other points come from. I don't see a cover with stars or a planet on it.

ETA: Not on the Serial Shelf. I saw it on the Chicago shelf.

Storm's Heart (Elder Races, #2) by Thea Harrison

message 56: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle I'm checking.

Did you find it on the Serial shelf? I had setting & plot (family fight- with uncle) to get the 9 points. 2 more if there is a moon on the cover (I can't see it real well).

message 58: by Mary X (last edited Mar 08, 2013 11:39AM) (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) I was wondering if you used plot. I just read Dragon Bound (loved it) and so grabbed this at the library the other day. Glad I didn't start it yet.

Let me check the shelf. Now that I think about it, I think it was on the Chicago shelf that I was looking at.

ETA: It's not on the serial shelf.

message 59: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) Mary, that is the second in a series and it might be a little confusing to start the second one before you have read the first one. It is an awesome series!!

message 60: by Mary X (last edited Mar 08, 2013 12:32PM) (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) I have read the first one.

I am going to be reading Fool Moon (The Dresden Files, #2) by Jim Butcher
2pt for moon on the cover
6pt for setting

message 62: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) Oh, good! Sorry if I jumped in there.

So, I'm not sure what to do. I have one I could read that's on my list of books for challenges this month. But it's low points. And I have another that would be a few more points (still not huge points) but it's not a challenge book.

message 63: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle just finished a book. I think I scored some points since one of the main characters was gay and everyone knew. The book is a serie, but I'm not sure if it's on the list or not. I haven't check yet. Need to run some errands. Be back later.

message 64: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) Okay, I think I'm going to read It Had to Be You (Chicago Stars, #1) by Susan Elizabeth Phillips
Should be worth 9 points

Setting=6
(set in Chicago, IL)
Plot- 3
(main character is rape victim)

Unfortunately it is not on the Serial shelf. I looked hard for it!

message 65: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle Since we are supposed to read only one book, I think I shouldn't use the one I just finished today. It's worth only 3 points.

The only book I can think of right now is Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green

Setting 6 points (Chicago, Illinois)
Plot 3 points - (openly gay)

I am changing my book and going to try to find a new one. I get it from my library in time

message 67: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) I ended up going with storm's hear. One of the editions has 3 tiny stars on the cover and it's set in Chicago. Also works for plot (family drama).

Storm's Heart (Elder Races #2) by Thea Harrison

I loved this book. SEP has a way of writing characters and situations that is so endearing. Very sweet, sexy story and I love the football aspect of it!

Cover: 2 pts (stars on cover)
Plot: 3 pts (openly gray)
Setting: 6 pts (Chicago, Illinois)

message 77: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) Almost done. Going to turn off the computer now for less distraction.

message 78: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle So, I saw in another team used this cover version Will ti presento Will by John Green in stead of Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green

I read the latter, but if it is allowed, I think I earn 2 more points since the cover has "stars" on it.

Firespell (Dark Elite, #1) by Chloe Neill
Finished: 3/10/13

3/10/13
5 Stars

Cover: 2 pts (stars on cover)
Plot: 3 pts (family drama)
Setting: 6 pts (Chicago, Illinois)

This series is my new obsession. I can see that I will be trying to work the whole series into as many challenges as I can and neglecting those I can't work them into. I loved Tricks/Niniane. Tiago was super sexy of course. It did seem odd that they would know each other for so many years and not have mated already. But it's mentioned in book 1 and 2 that Tiago was not around that much. That he had always preferred to be off fighting some war somewhere. So really in the 200+ years that they "knew" each other. They really didn't have that much contact. Plus she was really young when they first met. Anyway. Loved it and can't wait to read the next one.

@ Mary- that is one of my favorite series, as well! If you liked the second one then you are going to love the others as well.

I can see this group is not going to be good for my TBR pile.

Great job! Let's hope our other teammates can start and finish a book as well and we can get the extra points.

message 99: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) I'm havig one of my rare busy Fridays at work. I might not be able to look for a book until I get home.

message 100: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) I have a couple of book ideas which I had originally posted. But since I see the other teams all trying to be stealthy and PMing each other, I deleted them.

I have 2 that are worth 9 pts and possibly 12 pts. I'm questioning the plot points. But they both have cover, year and shelf.

Still looking to see if I have one with a name or where I'm positive on plot. I see people mentioning books with 15 pts so ones out there somewhere. But I can PM someone with the 2 I have so far.
