The private detective guy is kinda funny. Betting he will solve some part of the mystery. He can't be in the book just to make us laugh and feel sorry for him.

Things are not looking good for our hero right now. Someone is trying to kill him, another girl's gone missing, his ex-girlfriend is nuts, and the police are on his back. Oh the suspense!

Oh, what a surprise you all have coming. I'll wait til someone catches up with me to discuss the big one!

Yep, pretty strange happenings after the page 309 surprise.

Unfortunately, that surprise lost me. I couldn't suspend disbelief anymore. It was just too unlikely.

I am anxious though to hear how others feel about it.

It is a hard one to follow, but becomes a bit more believable as you read on. You will find out if it is some kind of freaky coincidence or planned out.

I finished the book. I guess it just wasn't for me. I need to be able to maintain some belief. That's what's amazing about King - he can make something totally unbelievable believable. Barclay has a long way to go.

Well, I was surprised by the news about Patti, I didn't see that coming. I am really enjoying this book and now I have to go read and find out if/how Tim gets out of his current predicament.

Rhonda, I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the book, and appreciate your honest comments. Some books are like that; you just can't suspend belief to enjoy them. Hopefully our next group read will be more to your liking.

Fletcher, the truck thief, reappears, and I am glad. I didn’t like how that encounter at his house just ended.

You have to admire his "STICK-TO-IT-NESS", even in face of humiliation.

The turn of events with the poilce was a surprise. What happened to reasonable Officer Jennings? Well I guess she is still trying. It sounds as though they are listening too much to the crazy girlfriend.

Doesn’t surprise me that Just Inn Time is a sleazy place. Soooo Syd was “working” there, just not at the desk?

Clever to introduce the workings of human trafficing by talking to the restaurant owner, then witnessing a possible example at the hotel.

Oh, oh! How is Tim going to cover his ass over Kate’s murder?

Patti is really who? hummmmm the plot thickens.☻

(view spoiler)[...Just finished the book. Well, Tim certainly went on a rampage at the dealership! That after he trows up when he sees a dead Kate. I guess he was fighting for his survival. But still... did he have to drag, crush that guy to death? He could have let him go once his gun fell, lol. It brought back memories of P2 (movie). Has anyone seen it? Pretty gruesome...
Ha, and I knew Patty knew what was going on! Too bad she had to try to get a parent's love this way...
Well, I give the book 3 stars. It was pretty entertaining although I found it to not be the best writing. Oh, and Mr. King gets a mention in the book too. Is this why he likes this author :) ? (hide spoiler)]

Just finished chapter 35...have to admit, I read most of this book last night as I couldn't put it down! I am really enjoying it so far. Cannot wait to read how everything may or may not tie together. The connection with Patty is interesting. Earlier when Tim was asked about cheating on his ex-wife, he didn't give a strong NO, so I am assuming this is why. Probably finish this book tonight. It is such an easy read.

I knew something was going on with Patty, but hadn't guessed at what it might be. I was totally shocked when it was revealed he was her father - didn't see that coming!

Yeah Debra...didn't see the father/daughter connection coming, but knew there had to be something between them. Barclay wouldn't have spent so much time developing her character if she didn't have a big role in the story.

I cannot wait to get home to finish it!

Yes, like I mentionned I knew something was up with Patty and it was obvious she needed a good role model in her life but I was very surprised to find out Tim was her father (view spoiler)[not that the act alone of donating DNA makes you a father) (hide spoiler)](.

Sorry Josee...I didn't finish reading your post above, as you started mentioning something I believe happens beyond chapter 36 and didn't want anything else spoiled for me. Although I did read most of the book really fast last night, so I may have missed something. Just be sure to not spoil beyond the chapters being discussed...:)

Ok, starting chapter 32 shortly so I haven't read all the posts here, yet. Just a few observations and thoughts.
Poor Patty. She is one messed up kid. I am staying with my first impression of her as she knows more than what she is saying.

Is this Arnie Chilton going to pull through? Maybe he was hired by Bob (snake in the grass) to keep an eye on Tim?

After reading chapter 28 I was questioning why Kate had never been questioned by the police. Why didn't Tim give him the names of EVERYONE and ANYONE he knew when Syd first went missing?? If it was daughter, I certainly wouldn't be holding anything back!

And, as I stated before, everyone is a suspect in this story. Now, everyone is connected. I always thought Andy was a bit untrustworthy. What a creep!

I never felt sorry for Kate, either. Although, I should have because I work in the mental health field and it's obvious she needs some serious help in that regard!

Isn't it weird that Andy hangs out with teens! What is his issue - and does he know what has happened to Syd???

April, I don't necessarily think that Patty hung around Tim because (view spoiler)[he is her dad, I think she was just starved for a father figure and that she knew that Tim was a good dad to Sydney. (hide spoiler)]
