Put your comments regarding chapters 25-36 here.

Debra (debra_t) | 2574 comments Mod
The private detective guy is kinda funny. Betting he will solve some part of the mystery. He can't be in the book just to make us laugh and feel sorry for him.

Debra (debra_t) | 2574 comments Mod
Things are not looking good for our hero right now. Someone is trying to kill him, another girl's gone missing, his ex-girlfriend is nuts, and the police are on his back. Oh the suspense!

Debra (debra_t) | 2574 comments Mod
Oh, what a surprise you all have coming. I'll wait til someone catches up with me to discuss the big one!

Rhonda | 7 comments Debra wrote: "Oh, what a surprise you all have coming. I'll wait til someone catches up with me to discuss the big one!"

Is that surprise somewhere around page 309?

Debra (debra_t) | 2574 comments Mod
Yep, pretty strange happenings after the page 309 surprise.

Rhonda | 7 comments Unfortunately, that surprise lost me. I couldn't suspend disbelief anymore. It was just too unlikely.

Rhonda | 7 comments I am anxious though to hear how others feel about it.

Debra (debra_t) | 2574 comments Mod
It is a hard one to follow, but becomes a bit more believable as you read on. You will find out if it is some kind of freaky coincidence or planned out.

Rhonda | 7 comments I finished the book. I guess it just wasn't for me. I need to be able to maintain some belief. That's what's amazing about King - he can make something totally unbelievable believable. Barclay has a long way to go.

Tracy (notrace) Well, I was surprised by the news about Patti, I didn't see that coming. I am really enjoying this book and now I have to go read and find out if/how Tim gets out of his current predicament.

Rhonda, I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the book, and appreciate your honest comments. Some books are like that; you just can't suspend belief to enjoy them. Hopefully our next group read will be more to your liking.

Tim is a resourceful man! You'll see.

Josée Leon (join_bookland) | 144 comments Just finished Chapter 36. Well that was a surprise about Patty!!

Fletcher, the truck thief, reappears, and I am glad. I didn’t like how that encounter at his house just ended.

You have to admire his "STICK-TO-IT-NESS", even in face of humiliation.

The turn of events with the poilce was a surprise. What happened to reasonable Officer Jennings? Well I guess she is still trying. It sounds as though they are listening too much to the crazy girlfriend.

Doesn’t surprise me that Just Inn Time is a sleazy place. Soooo Syd was “working” there, just not at the desk?

Clever to introduce the workings of human trafficing by talking to the restaurant owner, then witnessing a possible example at the hotel.

Oh, oh! How is Tim going to cover his ass over Kate’s murder?

Patti is really who? hummmmm the plot thickens.☻

Debra (debra_t) | 2574 comments Mod
Yes, so many threads to follow and to, hopefully, tie up at the end of the book!

Moving this to appropriate chapter discussion thread...

message 21: by Ann (new) - rated it 3 stars

Ann (annrumsey) | 466 comments Good way to sum it up, Josee. I gave it three stars as well for the entertainment.

Michelle (mhomer616) | 28 comments Just finished chapter 35...have to admit, I read most of this book last night as I couldn't put it down! I am really enjoying it so far. Cannot wait to read how everything may or may not tie together. The connection with Patty is interesting. Earlier when Tim was asked about cheating on his ex-wife, he didn't give a strong NO, so I am assuming this is why. Probably finish this book tonight. It is such an easy read.

Michelle (mhomer616) | 28 comments Ok, just finished chapter 36...I know the truth of Patty and Tim's connection...glad it wasn't how I thought!

Josée Leon (join_bookland) | 144 comments It was perceptive of you Michelle to think there was a connection, though!

Michelle (mhomer616) | 28 comments It was kind of obvious...

Debra (debra_t) | 2574 comments Mod
I knew something was going on with Patty, but hadn't guessed at what it might be. I was totally shocked when it was revealed he was her father - didn't see that coming!

Michelle (mhomer616) | 28 comments Yeah Debra...didn't see the father/daughter connection coming, but knew there had to be something between them. Barclay wouldn't have spent so much time developing her character if she didn't have a big role in the story.

I cannot wait to get home to finish it!

message 28: by Josée Leon (last edited Mar 28, 2013 01:05PM) (new) - rated it 3 stars

Josée Leon (join_bookland) | 144 comments Yes, like I mentionned I knew something was up with Patty and it was obvious she needed a good role model in her life but I was very surprised to find out Tim was her father (view spoiler)(.

Michelle (mhomer616) | 28 comments Sorry Josee...I didn't finish reading your post above, as you started mentioning something I believe happens beyond chapter 36 and didn't want anything else spoiled for me. Although I did read most of the book really fast last night, so I may have missed something. Just be sure to not spoil beyond the chapters being discussed...:)

Josée Leon (join_bookland) | 144 comments No worries... I just realized there was one last section of chapters. I've obviously posted at wrong spot :( I should hide certain comments then.

Josée Leon (join_bookland) | 144 comments Ok, all fixed up. Sorry folks! Reposted my summary of the last chapters in the appropriate spot.

Michelle (mhomer616) | 28 comments It is no problem...you didn't ruin anything at all! I still have NO idea how this one ends. It is a spoiler thread, so I did read at my own risk! :)

April | 44 comments Ok, starting chapter 32 shortly so I haven't read all the posts here, yet. Just a few observations and thoughts.
Poor Patty. She is one messed up kid. I am staying with my first impression of her as she knows more than what she is saying.

Is this Arnie Chilton going to pull through? Maybe he was hired by Bob (snake in the grass) to keep an eye on Tim?

After reading chapter 28 I was questioning why Kate had never been questioned by the police. Why didn't Tim give him the names of EVERYONE and ANYONE he knew when Syd first went missing?? If it was daughter, I certainly wouldn't be holding anything back!

And, as I stated before, everyone is a suspect in this story. Now, everyone is connected. I always thought Andy was a bit untrustworthy. What a creep!

Back to the reading!

message 34: by April (new)

April | 44 comments And now I know why Patty was hanging around Tim. The plot thickens! Did Patty purposefully seek out Sydney?

Poor crazy Kate. Is it bad that I don't feel sorry for her?

Off to the last section!

message 35: by Ann (new) - rated it 3 stars

Ann (annrumsey) | 466 comments April: hmm, I just realized I didn't feel sorry for Kate when I was reading. I suppose I should have.

Josée Leon (join_bookland) | 144 comments I didn't feel sorry for her either...

No problems, Josee. This is your first time with us and it can be a bit confusing; plus few groups break up their discussions like we do. You are doing great, and I'm loving your observations!

Debra (debra_t) | 2574 comments Mod
I never felt sorry for Kate, either. Although, I should have because I work in the mental health field and it's obvious she needs some serious help in that regard!

Linda Boyd (boydlinda95gmailcom) | 598 comments I'm somewhere around chapter 31 or 32 - I think, Tim has arrived back to the dealership to confront Andy

Isn't it weird that Andy hangs out with teens! What is his issue - and does he know what has happened to Syd???

message 42: by April (new)

April | 44 comments I know, Linda! Ewwwww!!! What a creep-o!

Linda Boyd (boydlinda95gmailcom) | 598 comments OMG!! I'm so disgusted with Andy! He slept with Patty!!!!

and Tim is Patty's real father!!! OMG!!! This is all too much!!!!

I know, at this point it was "all too much". This is where I said, "Come ON, Really?"

Somehow unbelievable, but still I had to see what was next. :)

April, I don't necessarily think that Patty hung around Tim because (view spoiler)
