If you could chose, who would you follow in the LOTR?

I would follow Frodo...because I'm better mentally than physically.

Aragorn! the journey from a wild ranger to the throne ...i would love to be with him in the moment when the destiny of the world will finally fall in the hands of men...

Aragorn. If nothing else, for the back and forth of Gimli and legolas. I mean, just remember:

"NOT the beard"

"-Toss me.
-Are you sure?
-Yes...wait! Not a word to the elf."

"That STILL counts as ONE"

I would stay with the Hobbits because second breakfast. Or with the dwarves because you get to be hairy and the dudes don't care about it. Haha.

From the company?
Woah.
Everything's dangerous there. D:
Maybe with Elrond. I bet it's nice there.

In the book, Elrond, because he keeps away from all the fighting. In the films, the Old Gaffer, because all he does is drink ale and smoke pipeweed back at Hobbiton while all the trouble is going on. As you can see I don't like discomfort. ;-)

Pippin and Faramir !!

Bilbo and I will be stay with Elves.

LEGOLAS!!!!

Galadrielle!

Sam. Sam's a lovely character who doesn't get enough credit.

Aragorn and Legolas both!

Gandalf
I would have loved to see him fight the Balrog.

Aragorn ,Legolas and of course Gimli(they're so funny togheter..)

I would have to say Aragorn... 8} Sooo cool!

Sam, he's a faithful friend that would stick with you through thick and thin, no matter how much of a butt you act like.

If we're talking about the book, Legolas. We don't hear much from his point of view, and I'd like to know what he thinks about the whole quest.

Definitely Gandalf

Galadriel. I love how wise she is, and how she's able to see through people.

Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli. <33

Three questions:
1) Am I allowed modern armaments?
2) Is shooting your leader in the back OK?
3) Is there a bounty on elves' ears?
Thanks.

Truly, I never liked the LOTR. When it first became absurdly popular, when I was in Jr. High, I read them, went "Huh, well OK" and ignored them until the movie kerfluffle started. I tried re-reading them at that time, but still just couldn't get into them. I basically never cared if the protagonists lived, died, failed, succeeded, or just gave up. I did like "The Hobbit". YMMV

I should note, I'm religion-blind, like some people are color-blind or tone-deaf (religion-deaf?). I never really realized these were allegory until someone told me. It didn't help.

What a delightful question and so many wonderful answers already!
I have always adored Samwise and consider him the real hero of the trilogy. ;-) I would love to be able to follow him with quick visits to Tom Bombadil, Merry, Pippin and Galadriel. I'd prefer to stay far away from all the fighting so I'd move around during the battle scenes.

The Hobbits! I love Frodo's intensity and Sam's faithfulness and devotion and Merry and Pippin's silliness. No dull moment

Treebeard. He has tons of stories, is calming, and I love trees!

Tom Bombadil, hands down!

The (gentle)man lived in the middle of a haunted forest and spent his time picking flowers from it for his wife. He completely ignored the One Ring's power, and killed wraiths by /stomping/ on them with his boots like they were overgrown roaches.

What more could you want?

Aragon

Faramir!!

Faramir would be fun. And i'de tell his father what for ; )

Aragon! I don't find Frodo and Sam's journey that gripping. I count down until the book turns back to the Aragorn-led journey. And I respond the same way with the movies.

Merry and Pipin have the most interesting adventures of all IMO.

I mean, getting kidnapped by Orcs, getting rescued by Rohirim riders, meeting Treebeard, meeting other Ents, witnessing the destruction of Saruman's place and than ging out and becomming knights and watchers... how cool is that :)

treebeard =D

Boromir, Lol. I mean, that trip down the river....
Seriously though, I would follow Frodo and Sam. They are the bravest characters, and I love their friendship.

Éowyn. I've been in love with her since I first read the books at age 12 or 13. Can't help it. She's a raging badass.

Marcy Peska Ah, Andrew, that is so very cool! And "they" say that guys don't like female characters; thank you for proving the "experts" wrong on this one! ...more

The most obvious answer is Gandalf. He's got the longest journey, so you'd be getting good value. He fights the Balrog. He actually has a ring of power himself. He's by far the most interesting.

Aragorn because he is HOT HOT HOT!! and the passion oh man......

Aragorn

Sam

My first and strongest instinct is to say Legolas, BUT,my God, that guy is so flighty and fae that I think that after a while he would eventually forget about me and go off to look at the stars or would sit down and have a conversation with an interesting looking tree for 300 years, while I rot and turn to dust waiting for him.

That said, either Faramir or Aragorn. Actually, you know what, I hate Aragorn too much to follow him, so scratch that.

So, yeah,Faramir.

Aragorn

Tough choice. I'd have to clone myself as I'd want to follow Aragorn. He went from someone I wasn't comfortable with to the heir of the throne. So wow. And such a tortured soul that I'd want to be there to slap him out of it.

On the other hand, love, love LOVE Merry and Pippen. They had me laughing at all their antics and adventures. So I'd have to be part of their fun.

I would follow Frodo. He is such an amazing character and it would just be good to be there to help him with the ring. and to meet Gollum would be absolutely amazing.

I say go with the dwarf!!!! You can toss 'em, have drinking games, watch them pop out of holes in the ground, and they are great when it comes to taking out knees!!!
