Yeah i got that but one of my friends sent me that challenge I just sent it as an extra thing we have going on, but I really liked the idea of the personal challenges and the monthly ones as well like Anna said :)

They just need to come up with a solid outline of 11 different themes. and seasonal challenges, like before popular book is released as a movie there could be a read the series challenge, discussions about predictions and reactions and stuff. Also we can do themes like in February a romance novel because of valentines, april can be comedy etc. Also the February BOTM has to be started by the 25 at the latest.
All of these jobs can be split as long as they done. Thanks :)

I like the new challenge!! And I can kinda take over this month, preferably if at least one other person is willing to take it on with me?I can start looking into monthly themes for challenges!!! Maybe we could do a few different sections to the challenge for each month that way we could have a variety of different topics like Black History Month and Valentine's day?
And yeah- I was thinking 3-months per buddy read pair?

thats great! I really appreciate it! and yeah thats good, lets try to have every month be different with unique themes, so for February that would be Black History Month while the Romance theme is more just fun to keep everything balanced.
And yup three months works, maybe we could get that going in the next week then the week after can be getting the BOTM going. That way its spaced out when you send out the newsletters.
So can anyone else help Riya out this month??

I'm so sorry- I just had to replace my computer and wasn't able to go on Goodreads for awhile. Sorry for not really running the group :(I'm doing the BOTM polls right now for February!!
For March it's women's history month, so we could do book with a strong female character? There's also the Ides of March, so we could do a Roman theme (and maybe Greek included) or something?
Those are just my random ideas...
If we could do decide those in the next week that'd be awesome. Then I can get the new BOTM posted by February 1, and send out a newsletter with this and the new nominations.
Lastly, what's the plan for buddy read programs and reading challenges?

I set up the discussion threads for the February BOTM and I'm making a March nomination thread with the Roman/Greek theme and the Strong Female Character since there don't seem to be any complaints!! I'm also sending out a newsletter about both of these right now, and we can send another one in mid-February with this stuff and whatever else you guys want to include?
I guess over the next 2 weeks we should brainstorm April BOTM themes and challenges? :)

So far things are going great! I think for now I like the idea of a more informal buddy reads and as it progresses it will probably improve and change.
And yeah lets just keep things moving and everyone engaged, and I think things will pick up.
A mid february letter would be good just to update on the BOTM, the buddy reads and maybe a couple of the games.

Ok, back to business haha, so i just noticed that the old July 2014 buddy reads thread has a few interests so we should send out a group message only about that:

Is anyone able to do that? I am doing (trying) to comment on as many threads as i can right now to get as mant convos going again as i can. I would really appreciate if you could all just spend like 15 minutes commenting on as many threads as possible.
The next month or so should be spent keeping the group always active then i think another Mod Hunger Games in Mayish would be a good idea just to get new members and ideas.
Please give me your opinions :)
I think maybe we should hold off on the Mod Hunger Games until June since that's when summer starts and lots of people will be more active?

I've been gone too! I'm really sorry. I only have access to good reads on my iPod at the moment it it's hard to find time to come on. I'll try to keep conversations going, I don't know what more I can do.
I'm glad the buddy reads thing is picking up!!! And just a heads up that it isn't just our group that is struggling right now- in general Goodreads YA groups have had a lot less activity since September. I have yet to see an amazingly perfect solution :( Hopefully we can figure something out though!

I was thinking about starting a discussion about controversial topics. LGBTQ,abortion/adoption, etc....

While that could create tension I think that would actually be a great place for discussion and debate. But I will have to say both sides of every issue MUST be given fair worth. While some issues are common and perfectly exceptable to some people it may be go against another beliefs or religions. So we would have to keep those threads monitored, and with guidelines. If we can establish a safe space for discussion about these topics I think that would actually be amazing for the group to expand and explore different topics.

Ok that sounds good! and you can mention that all comments will me monitored by the mods and how we may all have different views but our judgement will be unbiased. Which we will all have to work on ;)

That way it lets the discussion form itself instead of setting the mood for it.
Yeah Chantae I think that's an amazing idea!!! I think we should all try to stay and monitor a bit, because these threads will probably get quite inflamed. And of course we can all participate!Other than that, I think the buddy reads are going quite well!

Well it would be almost a complete makeover for the group. We might leave some of the fundamental threads like welcome and stuff but nothing concrete has been decided. So long as you are active and willing to keep up with the changes then you are more than welcome to stay mods! Its all up to you. I know that you are a great mod but a few others have not been active on this group for 3+ months and thats not ok if we want to get this group active and alive again!

I'm glad your on board!! If you know you will be busy would you want to step down from the group (I'd miss you) as its put together to keep things easier for the planning and less stress for you? And once things clear up for you and you want to come back I'll have you back right away!

I'll definitely help out with whatever the new mods will need, but I will also need to take a step back from duties in the group. I'm not really sure what that means for me as a mod? Once the new bloggers are smoothly in control, I'd probably want to step down I guess?

I know it might be harsh but the point of the changes to the group are to get the group more active and if the mods arent active then that sort of defeats the whole purpose. Sorry :(
