Twice Tempted by Jeaniene Frost - Start Date March 26th and beyond :)

I know I can't wait. I loved the last Vlad book. :)

Love Vlad and I hope Bones come by again to pull his chain lol

Awesome.

His arms are fantastic but the long hair is throwing me off it feels soooo fabio
PLUS it seems like this series got shafted in the art department I mean the cat and bones covers are so awesome this is just meh...

what do you think??

I finished "Once Burned" and would love to join the buddy read for it but I can't seem to find the thread. Maybe I'm blind?

I'm going to pick up Twice burned when I go into town after its out (I live in the country). I will probably start on it once I get it. Got a few beta reads to do first. Indie authors/friends come first :-)

I have the book pre-ordered for my Kindle so I can start anytime. I'm going back and forth on whether to read Twice Burned or the new Elemental Assassin/Gin Blanco by Jennifer Estep first - both come out on the same day.

Love Gin. I still need to read the last.

Congrats on the new job. Did you get to read the new Jennifer Estep book Deadly Sting?

Thanks! I haven't been able to read Deadly Sting yet either - it's killing me - so much I want to read but so much to learn for the job and so much to do to whip the place into shape. Being mature, the job has to take precedence - unfortunately!

So I read the first 15 Chapters and let me just say it was hard to stop. That's the reason I started this one so late. My son's birthday is today and if I'd started it sooner he'd be short a present or two and I'd be a bad mom. lol
I was rather surprised that Leila broke up with Vlad, but I can totally understand where she's coming from. The whole ring thing would be totally upsetting. He gave her no hint and she wasn't all that savvy about vampire goings on. My guess is they never truly discussed her being turned so this was a total shock to her.
I'm still trying to see things from Vlad's perspective. He is used to being in charge and not being questioned. Leila isn't about to lay down and let him walk all over her and her emotions. I think he both loves and hates this about her. I think he needs a strong woman or he'll just end up taking them for granted. Breaking things off was not an easy thing to do on Leila's part, but I think she was partly led by the strong emotions she was feeling at the time.
Poor Marty. I'm hoping he somehow survived. I thought it was interesting how Leila survived and how her powers came back.
Chapter 15 got a little gruesome with Hannibal's death. But it definitely emphasized her powers. Electrical powers seem to be all the rage. Where did they start was it an iron man movie or somewhere else? They had one in the Elemental Assassins series, but I think I read another one but can't recall it at the moment.
I wondered if Leila would come between Vlad and Maximus. Why did Vlad allow him to think he could date her in the last book? Why? Was it a test of loyalty or something else?
Any Ideas who tried to kidnap Leila? Could Szilagyi still be alive? I'm betting he is. (Sidenote: Where did Jeaniene come up with that name? I hope I pronounce it correctly. )

I can understand why Leila left Vlad but I felt she should understand that he is more of a "show, not tell" type of personality and that he is definitely not a modern man. I still yelled at Vlad "Just tell her!" Not that he listened! Also, he should have installed the toilet much earlier - simple consideration, pal.
Maximus & Shrapnel's betrayals - I wouldn't think a woman would be worth crossing Vlad over- particularly when the love was unrequited in both cases. They've seen what Vlad does to people who crossed him - what were they thinking?!
I love Vlad as much as I did in the first book - I think this is the most interesting interpretation I've read of Dracula.
Leila was a badass on the boat!
Leila's father's reactions to her relationship with Vlad and her transformation are realistic - No parent would be thrilled with their daughter bringing Vlad home to dinner - "I'd like to meet my boyfriend - why, yes, he is the infamous torturer and mass murderer from history".
Yay for Gretchen! She's blunt and obnoxious but she loves her sister.
Glad Marty survived - love the fact that he's crazy about sugar-flavored blood. Even vampires have a sweet tooth.
Cat! I've only read the first book in the Night Huntress series and a few of the short stories but I enjoyed her appearance here. Too bad Bones didn't get a speaking role.

I can't recall what I wrote before, so I'm combining everything I can think of off the top of my head in this post.
I was surprised that Marty survived but happy. I really like him and wish we'd get to see more of him.
I thought it interesting that Leila linked to Vlad in her dreams. I think Vlad got a kick out of that.
Leila's father was really having a hard time with everything especially at the end. I wonder if he knew Leila knew about his affair?
Gretchen did redeem herself at the end and I actually started to like her. So I wonder if she too will manage to be drawn into the Vampire world? Her response to Leila's warning that if she'd betray him he'd kill her.
As to Maximus' and Shrapnel's betrayal, I wonder if finding love in the vampire world would be like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Perhaps it's rare because of their competitive nature? I'm not one hundred percent sure that Shrapnel wasn't under some sort of spell. Heck she tried to use one on Vlad.
I like the explanation as to how Szilagyi survived.
So I wonder if Leila will get any new powers not that she's a vampire. Don't vamps usually get new ones when they turn?
I thought it interesting that Vlad already decided he wasn't letting Leila go but gave her her old room back. Plus everyone treated her differently. The scene where he moved all her things back to his room while she was taking a shower was priceless. Not a stitch to wear but a towel. I thought that was funny.

Leila shouldn't have any doubts about Vlad's feelings now - not only did he say "I love you", marry her, and turn her he was willing to kiss her when she was covered in filth, blood, ghoul guts, and had been face first in a swarm of rats - that's true love right there!
Loved the book - can't wait for the next one!

Yes, but I thought the same thing about Cat so many times and she still wasn't convinced so I'll reserve judgement on that one.

I've only read the first book in the Night Huntress series and a few short stories - I need to continue the series.
One of my minor pet peeves in stories is when the man go to extremes and consistently prove their love but the woman still doubt his feelings for her. Seriously, what does this poor man have to do for you to realize he love you and only you?
Also, I forgot to mention my favorite quote in the book - "They call him Vlad the Impaler, not Vlad the Emasculated"

That was a good one.

I think she needed him to admit it to himself and I think he really hurt her with the Immortality ring.
Maximus & Shrapnel's betrayals - I wouldn't think a woman would be worth crossing Vlad over- particularly when the love was unrequited in both cases. They've seen what Vlad does to people who crossed him - what were they thinking?!
I know, right?
I love Vlad as much as I did in the first book - I think this is the most interesting interpretation I've read of Dracula.
I kind of like that she included Vlad. Sometimes it works to use him and sometimes it doesn't. I like how Jeaniene seeded the stories with little facts about the real Vlad. The one the Vampire mythology is based off of.
Leila was a badass on the boat!
That she was.
Leila's father's reactions to her relationship with Vlad and her transformation are realistic - No parent would be thrilled with their daughter bringing Vlad home to dinner - "I'd like to meet my boyfriend - why, yes, he is the infamous torturer and mass murderer from history".
True
Yay for Gretchen! She's blunt and obnoxious but she loves her sister.
I liked how she rose to the occasion.
Glad Marty survived - love the fact that he's crazy about sugar-flavored blood. Even vampires have a sweet tooth.
That was pretty funny--his sweet fang is quite long.
Cat! I've only read the first book in the Night Huntress series and a few of the short stories but I enjoyed her appearance here. Too bad Bones didn't get a speaking role.
Good thing she's on good terms with Vlad.

Soon circumstances send Leila back to the carnival circuit, where tragedy strikes. And when she finds herself in the crosshairs of a killer who may be closer than she realizes, Leila must decide who to trust– the fiery vampire who arouses her passions like no other or the tortured knight who longs to be more than a friend?
