Yes, it's about Rehvenge, but we know from excerpts on her website that his HEA is Ehlana, a nurse at Haver's clinic.
I am chewing my nails to the nub waiting for the book!

OH NO!!!
HELL NO!!!
OH NO SHE ISN'T GONNA...
It's just a good thing Ms Arthur lives in Australia and that's a long, long way from Texas or slapping would occur....
Damn the next book doesn't come out until October.

Maybe I need to learn to be less connected to the characters?

Without it, this thread would be no fun!
And Irene, you can threaten whomever, but don't blame me if a goodreads author comes huntin' for ya!
Yet, despite your anger, you want the next book! Lol.
I hope I'm not stepping in anybody's toes, bt I'll rather keep a thor's attacks to a minim m. As for characters', anybody that raises yo r ire is fair game...
Darn, I spilled coffee on my keyboard this morning, so I g ess I r ined one key....LOL...i'm s re that is easy to know which one...LOL

Odd Thomas was good huh? I haven't read Dean Koontz in a long time. I liked him but I thought after the fourth one I read they started to run together- I wasn't so interested in picking up a fifth one.

I really, really liked all the Odd Thomas books. Odd is a great character, LOVED his dry wit.

Pop the key off! Yo_ can do that with most keyboards witho_t screwing them _p.
Good L_ck!
All those spaces make me think of Mad Libs. Remember those?
Ah, yo_th.

"Mommm...MOMMY! Give me an adjective. Now a fruit. Now think of a gerund."
Their own fault for only having one kid.
::Gasp:: Dude, do you remember the trivia books with the invisible ink answers and they came with the special reveal pen?!

Heh Yz, I thought you were doing it on purpose.

OMIGAWD!!! I have to keep reminding myself- in this book she is supposed to be in high school- so that would account for some of her immaturity... but still this chick has no backbone. She just goes around getting saved by Edward and mooning over him more each time- but she doesn't say squat.
The story starts out she's moving in with her father because her mother got married- and self sacrificingly, she feels it would be better for her mother and her new husband if she moved out. It's very clear she didn't really WANT to go- she doesn't discuss this with her mother- they don't come up with a consensus, a plan about what is best for everyone- she just throws herself upon the cross and moves. That works out okay though because it seems she likes her father's laid back style of parenting anyway. And then she meets the mysterious Edward with she is smitten with as he immediately begins saving her from death. So she doesn't miss Arizona or mama that much anyway...
Her father can't cook and works all the time anyway- so she happily goes all cinderella doing all the shopping and cooking while reading Jane Austen and doing all her homework- I'm going to gag soon.
Guys are lining up around the block to date her- and she gets herself in a little bit of a bind because she won't come right out and say. I'm not interested in dating you. Right now some kid thinks he's taking her to the prom and instead of saying no that's not going to happen, she's thinking about running him over with her car- that way he won't feel guilty anymore for almost killing with his car and he won't be able to go the prom because he'll be in a body cast... There's some logic for you... Whatever happened to "just say no"?
If guys had been lining up to date me in high school, I'd have been over the moon but no... she's uncomfortable. RIIIGHT.... makes sense to me.
Somehow she gets separated from her friends and ends up walking in the wrong side of town as it's getting dark by herself... SLAP!!! wait a minute... you mean you totally didn't see where your feet were going?
I understand you're young, you're in high school but you don't know which street you're on? you don't know how you got there? you don't know how to get back? ARE YOU ON DRUGS? SLAP!!!
toddlers wander off you don't watch them- high school kids- are usually slightly smarter.
Some creeps start following her and instead of saying
"BACK OFF A-HOLES!!! etc. Edward comes out of nowhere and saves her.
That's right- that's the message we should give our young girls- don't worry if you get in a bind somebody you barely know will come along to save you and you should just blindly jump into his car... NOT!!!
trust men you barely know- they're safer than the creeps behind you.
Whatever happened to "trust in God but save yourself"?
Always bring you own car to a party (and she does own one). That way you can leave when you want to if you need to.
So rather than letting this person know she's interested in him- she's waiting for him to step up to plate and say he's interested in her... of course he's said a number of times he doesn't want to be friendly with her and of course she can just keep simpering on after him because it isn't sexual harrassment if she's sure he doesn't mean it. UGH
She won't tell any of her friends she's interested in him because all her friends don't hang out with him and they might shun her if she's honest about her feelings. Okay that might be a reasonable action for a high school girl but I still want to slap her for it.

(And even though Jenks doesn't like him, I think Piercce is the BEST!!!! he is sooo going to be the next big thing)

Reminds me of a former friend who thought nothing of walking home through the ghetto and taking rides from strangers. Note: former friend. It was either end the friendship or slap her daily.
As for the Rachel Morgan series, I keep trying to read the first book and can't get past the first 20 pages. Sigh.

Spoilers follow for Dead and Gone (Harris), Succubus Heat (Mead), and Thorn Queen (Mead), in that order.
From Dead and Gone, I have a fierce, unrelenting desire to smack Niall. He comes waltzing in with promises of love and family and even though Sookie is intimidated by him, he taps into her need to belong and feel connected to the world. Wow, he knows how to reel her in.
Are you really going to tell me that this ancient being, crafty and methodical as he is, did NOT consider the repercussions of outing Sookie as a family member? Oh, he knows what's likely to happen. He just doesn't care. He blatantly disregards his son's desire to keep them hidden--and safe. He thinks only of his OWN desire to connect and puts absolutely NO thought into protecting his very MORTAL descendant. But I want to know her...why should a little thing like her losing her life get in the way?
Okay, he sent Claudine. But her protection is limited and sporadic. What, he couldn't spring for a full-time guard? Not even after an assassin came to her house? HE'S the one that brought everything tumbling down on Sookie's head, and he leaves it to the vampires to take care of her. With family like that, who needs enemies? And we thought fraternising with vamps was dangerous. At least they take action to protect their own.
----------------
Succubus Heat. Georgina needs to buck up and have some self respect. Girl, the man cheated on you!
Seth went on and on about how transcendent their love is, and then turns around and boinks Maddie behind her back. Say what?!
Now all of this makes him an ass. But notice it's Georgina's name on the smack-down order. Georgina loses her powers and, predictably, Mr. I'm-an-hypocritical-jerk comes a'runnin. After sleeping with her best friend, then breaking up with her, he wants to have sex.
Well, he's male. He has a penis. This is to be expected.
But Georgina. Says. Yes.
At which point, I want to shake her little shape-changing self. NO! For the love of gods and goddesses, NO!! He betrayed you! He went against everything that made you love him! He's not the great guy you thought, and how can you WANT to sleep with him? Get a backbone and tell him to F Off. I don't care how much you pine for him. He dipped his stick elsewhere. Send the bastard on his way.
Another thing to note is the resultant stain on his soul. His guilt for cheating on Maddie caused it. No such guilt for cheating on Georgina! So much for true love. ::snort::
----------------
Thorn Queen's Kiyo. He walks into the shaman's house. Sees the state of things. Knows that the woman he loves has been repeatedly violated by some delusional freak.
And he remains calm.
He even expounds on the merit of mercy and the correct political action for the situation.
Um...
Excuse me? The woman he loves has just undergone the most horrific experience of her life, and he wants her to just let it go? Abhorrent. Shocking.
Her wrath is justified. Her desire for vengeance for what this man has put her through is natural. The fact that she's even still standing is a testament to her inner strength. And Kiyo wants her to act as if it's all just an unfortunate incident?
And later, he wants her to GROVEL to the psycho's mother and act as if it's all Eugenie's fault?!? I just...ugh.
::shudders in rage and disgust::
All I can say is, thank heavens Eugenie has Dorian. Now THAT is a man who understands.

Also, Portia and Andy Bellfleur and Jason Stackhouse from the Sookie Stackhouse novels annoy me too! All three just need to get smacked!
Lastly, Phury from the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. He was doing so well until Zsadist's book, and by the time I got to his book I just wanted to shake him and say "Shut up, and act like a man damn you!" LOL! I know, I'm crazy, but he got to me in Lover Enshrined.

Someone should, really.
Sigh, I could never get that far into the BDB books. But I really, really, really wanted to slap their stupid king. I mean, come on, talk about a selfish prick.

Yup. And it just gets worse from there, ugh!

Also, Portia and Andy Bellfleur and Jason Stackhouse from the Sooki..."
Good Lord! There are so many I agree with on this thread. But Shannon...I want to slap the hell out of Phury pretty much the entire series, but especially during his book, Lover Enshrined . I wanted to shake him and say GET A BACKBONE- GROW A PAIR and don't be afraid to work what god gave you! We get it. You haven't had sex in what? 100 years...1000 years? What's the difference? Let's get it on already!

I did read some of the earlier posts and have to agree that Richard from LKH's Anita Blake series HAS to GO. And Artemis from SK's Dark Hunter series. Other than those, I don't want to get RIDE of, but DEF shake Anita Blake herself. After Skin Trade? Man- that was rough. Does anyone remember the last time she fired ANY of her guns?

I loved that series...starting with book 1. Everyone feels differently about it though so you'll just need to judge for yourself. It's intense.
Megan wrote: "Awww, I'm very sorry to hear that the hero and heroine from a Hunger Like No Other are mentioned... I was really looking forward to reading that series! Oh man... do you think the others are bette..."
I too enjoyed the series. But then again, I have a weird sense of humour, and I thought that parts of that book were a total riot. A TIMID vamp? Come on. But then again, I do love Nix (nucking futs Nix, as they call her in the book) she's just too funny. I really do think that these are meant to be read as satrical works, not taken totally seriously.
But then again--that could just be my weird sense of humour.

Hey Megan, I thought I heard that the old Anita was back in Skin Trade, guess not (you know I trust your judgement). Anyway, I've heard very good things about the Immortal After Dark series. For me, book one just wasn't it. I talked to someone else who felt the same way and just raved about all the later books. I'll be reading them soon enough.

I really need to move the BDB series up on my tbr list. They're so popular here, and now I'm really starting to feel like I'm missing out on something.

Yes you absolutely should Michelle!!! If you can make it through the first one, which IMHO is the weakest one, you will be HOOKED ;) LOL

That's another on my list too-BDB. And as for Anita, some say she is back as there is not sex all the time, but in Skin Trade there was no action, only whining that she is so much better than other men in almost every way... I'm with you Susan- I love her, but still want to shake her at the same time. I'll continue to read that series... but I'll read them from the library.

If you have a problem with them, wait until you get to the next in that series, No Rest for The Wicked. I wanted to BBQ Kaderin the Cold Hearted because she lived up to her name. She treated Sebastian Wroth like a washing machine on spin cycle. This was one of those times I wasn't looking for that happy ending between those two.
I do, however, like the nutty one, Nix in Kresley Cole's books. She is the brightest point in all of them.

I love the character Nix, too. She's funny.

Oh no! Despite their limited appearance in A Hunger Like No Other, I really liked Wroth and Kaderin. I just read the back of book two, and thought "I can't wait to read this one!". I agree with you, I love Nutty Nix, just based on book one alone. I'm glad to know that she appears in the other books. Her character will definitely be good for some laughs.

For the Rachel Morgan series, I luckily read the second book first and then was able to make it through the rough start of the first, since I knew it was going to get good. I am getting towards the end of the third (kept me up late last night), and I seriously want to slap Nick. Serious back handed bitch slap. Get a clue!

I started No Rest for the Wicked last night, and so far I really like it. I think I'll eventually end up reading the rest of this series.

I loved that book although I wanted to kick Kaderin the Cold Hearted in the arse and I felt sorry for Sabastian.
If you like this one, you'll love Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night. My least favorite in the series was Dark Needs at Night's Edge. The last, Kiss of a Demon King was good but not one of her better stories.

I would like to kick the $h!te out of Laurel Hamilton for corrupting Anita Blake. In the beginning stories, she kicked arse, took names and didn't pop a sweat. Later books had her scambling to excuses to get in bed with a partner or two.
I stopped reading that series after book five. I heard Micah, which is a thin book, was the worst book so far in the series.

I do have to give LKH her due on one thing, though: the woman can certainly stretch out ONE scene over the course of a 500+ page novel...

Yeah, she's really starting to irritate me too; I'm glad its not just me :)

And jessica from twilight needs to get slapped upside her head. (The book and movie)

LOL. Seriously. Not attractive on a dude. It seems like an anime influence to me.

Heh, I'd like to kick Anita's backside too.
