Alice Ummm... I'm looking at the five star reviews and I'm wondering how the heck that happened. Is anyone else bothered by the terrible grammar of this book? I mean, even the TITLE has awkward wording.

Krista I cannot stand bad grammar in books. If I weren't close to missing my book goal for the year, I would have put this book down and never even thought about picking it up again simply because of the grammar. I did think the book had a moderately good story line. But man oh man, I will never read another one of her books.

Jessica Narwold I imagined these were like gangster people. But yeah I agree. It wasn't the best. I couldn't relate to the characters because of this.

Alice Exactly! The author seriously needs to get herself an editor.

Anima I'm a little confused. I bought my kindle copy in January and am finally reading it. There are no errors in my book.

Ashley Newman I love this book. It's an addiction that can not be explained. I agree on the typos and it's blatant that the author isn't from the US so some of the spelling like 'favourite' was understandable. That's how it's spelled in Europe. The repetition and run-on sentences are never ending BUT I can't put it down. I know what I'm getting into every single time I pick it up, I laugh every time I read that someone 'chirped'; everyone is chirping! I have it in paperback and whenever I'm feeling down, it has a way of picking me up. The story isn't mind blowing but it has a way of speaking to me...that I'll never fully understand. Lots of younger readers click this as a 5 star book, I'll give it a 4 just because I'd be a hypocrite if I said I couldn't stand it.

miss reads ✿ i think it was written in a way readers could feel comfortable about it, like it doesn't really have to be perfect , what matters is the whole story. :) i thinks it't still perfect !

Taperra The fact that this story received 4.09 stars is beyond me! The grammar was terrible throughout and I couldn't connect with the characters. A publication is your final (final!) draft, and why this author didn't proof read or get feedback before publishing, is ridiculous and amatuer.

Agreed, I was getting such overly suggestive images in my head while reading this, it was funny.

Anyway, I myself was pretty shocked by the five star ratings. When I started reading this, I knew it would be easy chick lit, the story seemed nice enough so did the starting, but then God, Amber started talking and thinking... the word stupid started circling my head and after a few more pages a dozen other joined in and I felt kinda sorry for Liam, even though he was a chum. The narration was awful.

And I honestly just had to put the book down when she said something like, "Liam is so perfect, if I bottled him up and sold him I'd be rich"......... I was like blink blink.

It was just BADLY written.

Niccol Sutton I see you point with the title but I didn't notice any grammer mistakes in the book, I loved it :)

❤️Melanie G.📖💛 Who cares about the grammar, the book is AMAZING!!!

Niccol Sutton yeah exactly

EXACRLY!!! Grammar doesn't take away from the plot OR characters in a book. It doesn't really affect it at all. It wasn't badly written or anything like that because of the slight mistakes. I honestly didn't notice it that much because it was SUCH a great book! It was sweet how the characters were to me. But we all have opinions...

Heidi Ok the grammar wasnt perfect, but am I the only one who was noticing like, little Brittish/English Idioms? It was just written strangely maybe?

RedRedtheycallmeRed This was one of the worst books I've ever read. The fact that there are so many 5 Star reviews is absolutely mind-boggling. If it were possible to give it negative stars I would.

*P The great thing about books is they appeal in different ways to different readers. I proudly gave the book 4.5 stars due to my love for the storyline and the characters. Honestly, throughout my 20 years of schooling I rocked in math and science but totally lacked in grammar and writing. Perhaps that is why I can overlook the grammar issues. Similar to movies, I find critics tend to love movies I may have no interest in and they may poorly rate movies I can watch over and over. Regardless everyone is entitled to their opinion.

So true, Paulette! I loved the story. Books touch people in such different ways. A story will appeal to a group of people, while it doesn't connect with others. You have to wade through a lot of books to find the ones that do. That's the great thing about finding your next favorite book! Everyone does have their own opinions and that shouldn't discount yours if its different than anyone else's! :)

Karine The grammar might be bad, but that wasn't what bothered me the most. It was simply the writing style, which was extremely repetitive, awkward and juvenile. The characters were unrealistic, and so was the plotline. Despite those things, the story itself was good enough for me to appreciate the book. The author might not be a great writer, but she's a decent storyteller :)

Alyssa I love the book. I mean yes the Grammar drives me crazy and I marked all over the book fixing it. But the plot and characters just are so interesting that I love to read about how their story turns out. And I love the ending how the author tells you how the story ends.

G I'm one of those that loved this book and gave it 5 stars. I get that some of you don't understand and think it's mind-boggling but to each his own.

I agree. I had a slight problem with the grammar and misuse of punctuation in the book, but that's something I can normally overlook if I'm really enjoying a story. What bothered me most was the repetitive dialogue. The characters all had the same way of speaking and repeated the same words over and over again. The author didn't do a very good job of giving these characters their own personalities.

I still liked the book enough to read the entire thing, but I agree with a lot of the other comments here. This book definitely does not deserve 5 stars.

Jacqueline Buan I finished the book by

1. Ignoring the cringe-worthy grammar
2. Skimming through the horribly dramatic twist where the dad comes back just when everyone's lives are supposed to continue smoothly
3. Focusing on the pure romance aspect of the novel. Oh and Jake's lovable sibling care.

Sooo was number 3 worth the first two? No. How in the world did it get as many stars as it did? The only thing that really hooked me was the idea of a sweet, loving man with unrequited feelings sneaking into your bedroom for a platonic cuddle.

I completely agree! I even complained in my review.

message 24: by Chili (new) - rated it 1 star

Chili I could not finish this book it was just so bad, grammatically and the plot. It is like all the bad ideas in the world stuffed into one book! I try and finish every book that i start but this one killed me.

EXACTLY. The Stoy was decent. The plot was so very typical, like lets just keep adding ideas that sound cool, dramatic, and tad bit dangerous and so sad =_= And the grammar was horrible.
How the hell does this book have such a high rating- Baffled.
