I've read this book at least 5 or 6 times! But just bought the ebook on this one as well so plan to read it again before I see the movie! When you read this, give it a chance. You need to get through the first 1/3 of the book before it begins to make sense. Once I got to that point, I couldn't put it down.

Aww cool ;)"
Yeah, I had to bring it in because it was acting weird and there was a crack in the frame. =C So I'm catching up on the few paperbacks I have on my to-read-list.

I absolutely loved the concepts in this book- the moral dilemmas, what's good and bad, right and wrong. I loved the idea of a 'peaceful' take-over rather than the traditional 'hostile' type. I love Melanie and Wanderer and the evolution of their relationship. I love all the boys. Especially Jamie. And honestly, even though the first part is slower, I was never bored with this book. But, I know that a lot of people give up on it because of that first part so I agree with the earlier comments about toughin it thought that first part.

Yay! I'm glad you got through it to find out how good it is :)

There's no comparison to Twilight!! This was sooo much better! Also, Twilight is a YA. The Host is adult Sci-fi per the author.

I also can't wait for the sequel. I hope it's as good as this one.

Ooh another fan, good to have you with us! I'm really looking forward to the sequel too, the movie, who knows? Could be great, could be awful :)

Nice :) It wasn't hard for me to get into either. I'm the same way, I like to be pulled in from the start ;)

I LOVED this book! I read it a few years ago and it just stayed with me. It was an amazing story and I was so moved and inspired by how selfless Wanda was. It effected me so much that I based my college essay on it! And I'll swear up and down that that was the reason they accepted me. Lol!
It was slow in the beginning, but once I got to the point where they met the others I was hooked. I've been trying to read it again to see if I feel the same way the second time through, but it's so long!
