Just saw this on Amazon.com and jumped at it. The book has only been out just over a month.

The kindle price is listed as $16.07. Where does it say $1.99?

I think I figured it out. I wasn't logged in (my account is listed in US), but I was viewing the page from Canada, so it must have put me in the Canadian Kindle store. When I logged in, it listed the price as $1.99.

Is is necessary/advisable to read the books in order?

I read an excerpt of it in Lightspeed Magazine and found it good without having read the prior novels, that said I have seen the movie that is based on the novels.

Checked it, and it was 1.99 for me. On Impulse, I decided to buy it.( :D) Also bought farside, by Ben bova.

I liked the movie, but it sucks compared to book (Jumper).
