      I'm feeling sorry for myself at the moment. Me and my partner are doing the Fast Diet. Two days a week you can only eat 600 calories (500 for women), the rest of the time you can eat your normal meals. We are losing weight but this means I can only have ONE slice of toast on those days ;-( Today is the 2nd day of the diet for this week and I'm fantasising about stacks of toast, cheese sandwiches, bread dipped in soup...
      My paddle hasn't stuck so far. Everything comes out clean as a whistle. I've never washed the tin either, just given it a wipe round with a piece of kitchen towel.I've found the home made bread really filling so I don't eat quite so much of it as the bought stuff. Still loving the Panasonic. It's so easy to use.
      Had my first really duff loaf today from a pkt. Just dident rise and was very powdery. About half inch high. Weird. Made another and it was fine.
    
      i havent used my bread machine in ages but i had to get it out tonight because i had so many bananas there wasnt a chance id be able to eat them all before they went too mushy! (i like them black so i have a limited window to eat them)im trying to give up store bought bread as i eat too much at lunch, especially when im at university. im not a toast lover so i rarely eat it at home but sandwiches are just so easy when im out all day. just need to find a good recipe to use when i do want some bread.
      We like sundried tomato, parmesan and a bit of garlic or rosemary. Lovely as bread or as rolls with soup.
    
      oo sounds yum, Lynne.has anyone had success in making a wheaten loaf in the breadmaker? is that even possible?!
      Came across a copy of River Cottage Handbook number 3, which deals with bread. Forget the bread maker, I'm going old school with wooden shovels and baking stones! :)A book I would recommend, even though most of you have probably read it!

      I've got a Morphy Richards model with a collapsible paddle so you don't get the hole right up the inside of the loaf. I've had it about a year now and no disasters so far (crossing fingers as I type!)
    
      When my breadmaker stopped working a couple of years ago,i never replaced it,so i make all my bread by hand now,i find it more theraputic and the calories i expelled making it means i can eat more once it's baked.

      We make our bread by hand too. Well, Her Ladyship makes it - she says I'm too rough with it.
Tried breadmakers, but unimpressed by them.
      I love mine, I've got a Morphy Richards with the collapsible paddle, so you don't get so much of a hole in the middle of the bread.
    
      It has been a few years since we had one, so they've probably improved since then... what with this new-fangled electricity and everything.
    
      I really miss mine. The people I gave it to really appreciate it though, so that's alright.Beautiful bread here for 20p a loaf. Fresh every afternoon in the shop just downstairs. Still warm at 5pm.
Can't justify buying a new machine.

I know what you mean. Holidays in France with a boulangerie nearby, warm fresh lovely bread on tap.
      I got rid of my Panasonic breadmaker, it was good and cheap to run but I was eating way too much bread and was getting fatter and fatter (and I was already obese!). Probably not a problem if you don't live alone and have some ability to resist bready temptations! :-)Fortunately along with the other changes I made to my diet I managed to drop out of the obese bracket and am just a little tubby now.

      Thanks Patti - fresh bread has always been a bit of a weakness of mine. In a way the breadmaker was both my best friend and my 'pusher'! ;-)
    
      Its my OH who is the bread-addict. If I leave a loaf cooling he'll take the crusts of both ends and then the top which makes slicing what's left almost impossible. I can leave bread alone and I really don't like crusts! (luckily). Cheese is my weakness though.
    
      I used the delay timer for the first time yesterday. I woke up to fresh warm bread and it was impossible to cut so that was a bit of a fail....
    
      We need more recipes in here. I've rediscovered my love for the breadmaker this week. Gonna try a sweet bread tonight I think
    
      I saw some tomato flour in the supermarket today, its looked interesting as it might add a nice colour/flavour to bread.
    
      It's all about the flour. I have been using wessex mill flour recently.I can buy it locally.....

      Made a loaf this morning, It failed (didn't rise) Made another this afternoon. Failed again didn't rise added extra yeast to this one too. Shall I go for broke and try another? Watch this space.
    
      Pat I've noticed when I keep bread mix to near the sell by date they don't work as well so always add a teaspoon 5 gm or so extra quick yeast.
    
      Lynne the date on the packet said 21 Nov 2014 and I added quick acting yeast to the second loaf. Still duff. The third loaf was fine different packet but the same date 21 Nov 2014. So it had to be a duff first packet.
      Another duff loaf! What is going on with my bread making. Did another this afternoon, it was fine. I am starting to tear my hair out!
    
      Ah Pat, isn't it disappointing when it doesn't rise. I make bread a lot but always fear its a failure. You can tell after a few minutes rising whether its going to be good or go straight from the baking sheet to the bin! I've been using Allinsons extra strong white, and granary mixed with Allinsons quick yeast in a tin. Touch wood its lovely. I made 12 batches of bread in rolls before I had my feet done so I've got a couple of weeks off.
