I wasn't sure how much I was going to enjoy this one, with it being a suspense, but so far it's pretty good!

I can't imagine waking up and not knowing who you are - that alone would be terrifying! But to have been attacked on top of that! I can't even fathom it! I thought she handled it so well.

I do wonder what her real name is, cause if it was mentioned I either missed it or forgot it. I looked over the first few chapters with her in them to see if I could spot a name, but didn't see one - was her real name ever mentioned that you saw?

It was sweet how she was so concerned about Ben's feelings that she picked a random name just so he wouldn't have to call her Susan.

It's uncanny how similar "Karen" and Susan look - I wonder if they are related?

I'm wondering what the connection between Sarah and "Karen" is? I don't think it's just that Gregory accidentally ordered the wrong woman killed - do you?

Abbi Yeah I was kinda wary too but you're right, it's pretty good!

That would be so horrible! I'm really impressed by how she's handling it, I think I'd have freaked out!

That has me curious too. I don't think it was mentioned cause I also looked back over it and didn't see a name. I'm wondering if maybe her name really is Karen because when the guys are first attacking her the one starts to call her a name beginning with a K but the other guy stops him and says "It's Susan". Also since it was the first name that popped into her head when she was making up a name it would make sense that it's her name and that's why she thought of it.

It was sweet! I really like how sensitive she is towards him. There have been several times she could have gotten mad or taken offense but she doesn't.

I was wondering that too!

I'm really not sure how a feel about this. Part of me thinks that since they look so similar it would be rather easy to kill the wrong one especially if you were only going on a quick glance or even worse a description. But the other part of me wonders if it really was an accident. I guess we'll just have to wait to find out!

I really don't like how Gregory is viewed as such a great man! I hate when people are bad yet they know how to convince everyone how good they are so they'll never believe they're capable of the bad things! It'd be much easier if everyone could just tell who the bad guys are!

I really like Clyde! I was glad he found "Karen" when he did and was able to help her.

I was so glad that "Karen" decided to go to the porch instead of to bed when Paul came to kill her! That would be so scary! I was glad she had the bat and was able to get a good whack in!

I forgot about the one guy started to call her by a name with the letter K! You're probably right!

I guess we will! :(

I hate that too! It's so annoying when bad people are able to con everyone into thinking they are some saint, when in reality they are some of the worst people you could know!

I like Clyde too! Me too!

I was too...and that she decided to take the bat with her! It would have been! I loved it when she didn't just hide, but decided to give him a good hard hit!

I guess it showed Paul's inexperience, but you'd think before he fired he would have made sure she was in the bed. I was glad he didn't, but it was just so stupid not too! He's logic about why he didn't check made sense, but still! Even if she wouldn't have been outside, she could have gotten up to use the bathroom or to get a drink of water.

It was funny how Gregory slipped and mentioned Richard's name when he wasn't even asked about him!

Abbi I was thinking the same things about Paul!

That was funny!

Edward and Harry have me kinda confused and I can't quite figure out what their game is. Maybe I'm just reading too many books at once and missing things.

I liked how Ben noticed that "Karen" was silently praying by the look on her face!

I was thinking that they were the ones who killed Susan and Christopher, by Gregory's order, so they have that on him. And somehow "Karen" knows about this, or something else, and so as long as she's alive they aren't in that much danger - but the moment she dies they will have a target on them. I personally don't understand why they had to hurt "Karen" the way they did to get their point across...unless whatever drug they gave her intentionally gave her amnesia for some reason only they know. I don't really know, but I hope we find out soon!

Me too!

I just had a crazy thought! What if "Karen's" financial advisor is Paul! I mean his name is never given and he knows a lot about NINA from his "FBI contact". I'm probably wrong but I'm just wondering if her financial advisor is going to be someone critical in this story.

Abbi That makes sense! Thanks!

That would be interesting! I too am wondering if the financial adviser will be important!

I thought it was funny how when everyone was telling "Karen" to not worry it was just making her worry!

Well I can't seem to find anything else-you?

Finished!

Well the ending got to be rather hectic, don't you think? Everything was being revealed so quickly it just felt rushed, at least it did to me.

I felt so badly for Kelly as a child! For her guardian to neglect her the way he did was horrendous! It was nice that her next guardian allowed her to spend time with her aunt, but I thought it was terrible that she couldn't live with her full-time - she probably would have been the best guardian for her.

message 16: by Abbi (new) - rated it 3 stars

Abbi Yeah I felt the same way!

That was horrible! I could not believe how she'd had to live! I agree that her aunt probably would have been the best guardian for her!

Was it just me or did the fact that they found a check from Massey to Ben seem over dramatized? It was hyped up to be this huge deal breaking thing when he could easily prove that it was false! It just irritated me for some reason.

I couldn't believe how cold Darla was to John dying! Even though she could have helped she didn't and just let him die.

Yes it was! It irritated me too.

I had thought she had a part in planning his death, so I wasn't surprised when she didn't help him. And that whoever was in charge of getting her the antidote (I'm pretty sure it was Paul) gave her two so that he could say that he gave two syringes and it wasn't his fault that she didn't use them. But, yeah, she was very cold about it.

I don't know about you, but I thought it was silly how Kelly had to be right there at the beach house - since local authorities weren't called in. You would think her asking them to be there would be enough, since the professionals mostly stayed on or near her house, without her having to be there too. I also thought it was ridiculous how Kelly refusing to stay in the backyard proved to be a good thing, because if it wasn't for that Chessman and Denham probably would have escaped. I kind of hate it when in novels an inexperienced person is the one who knows better than professionals what to do.

message 18: by Abbi (new) - rated it 3 stars

Abbi I completely agree with that last paragraph! I felt the exact same way!

I have to say I didn't see the whole Edward killing Harry and Paul blowing up their car coming at all and I really couldn't figure out why Edward needed to kill Harry.

Frankly this book confused me a decent amount and felt rather disjointed-was that just me?

I didn't see it coming either - total shock! I didn't understand Edward's motivation for killing Harry right then either, but the only thing I could think of was maybe Edward was planning on leaving the area and he didn't want to have to worry about Harry spilling the beans on what they had done??? I did like how Edward was concerned about the welfare of Harry's child and was planning on supporting him.

No, I felt that way too!

It was hard to believe that Chessman and his men were able to build that underground access to the Gulf within three months, in complete secrecy. Also, I will never understand why people born and raised in America are willing to betray their country just for money.

message 20: by Abbi (new) - rated it 3 stars

Abbi I did like that too!

Yay I'm glad it wasn't just me!

Yeah that did seem a bit far-fetched. I will never get that either!

Ok this is sad but I really couldn't find anything else to discuss-do you have anything else?

Not really. The only things that come to mind are:

How easy it was for everyone to call Kelly by her new name - both times. I think if I had met her and she first went by Susan, then changed it to Karen, then again to Kelly, I would have said the wrong name once or twice. 'Cause if I had been thinking of her by the name Karen for a few days it would take awhile for that to change - at least for me.

And how funny Paul blacking out when he was over-stressed was. Plus dangerous! If he had been a good guy and had this condition he could easily have been taken out!

Abbi Yeah that was off to me too!

Haha!
