I am so excited I can't stand it! My favorite book of all time. I hope it's good.... :D (hee-hee!)

I'd like to be excited but part of the coolness of this book, in my eyes, was the paradox between the few words and the rich images. I don't see how you recreate that in film.

I don't know if Sendak needs the Burton gothic thing, much as I love it.

But more importantly:
Eggers is writing the script?!
I am a little bit concerned because whereas I've liked the few things I've read by him, I don't think minimalism when I think Eggers.
And yet, it's Eggers and Jonze.
I am warming up to the idea, but hesitantly.

The trailer was awesome looking, though.

And do you need to have overt gothic touches if you have Bela Lugosi/Martin Landau?

William, watching the preview made me wonder that. In a way it kind of looked like they were trying to throw in a subplot with the boy's real life, but if it relied primarily on visuals to tell the story, I think that would be fascinating.

Oh Kevin, that is the saddest thing I have heard in a long, long time. And, you have grown kids, don't you? How did they make it through without reading this?
You must, MUST, go out right now and find this book and revel in it. It is a staple that cannot be denied.
Done with my rant. :)
