I know this fiction, but I am currently reading Alison Weirs new novel



One of the main characters is Richard's daughter Katherine.

Talk about timing.

I read this last year and wasn't real fond of it. I thought the attempt at a connection between Richard's daughter and Katherine Grey was just...stretched. Katherine P's search to find out the truth about her father and her cousins' disappearance was just...not believable in my opinion. And there were things that just didn't seem to fit, didn't have a reason for being in there (like Katherine G seeing ghostly shapes but then nothing ever happens to explain them, though you know who they are, or why they're there).

I read it because of the connection to Richard III and I thought a book about his little known daughter might be interesting (especially since there's not much known about her so there's not much history to mess up by the author) but I wasn't impressed.

Anne Easter Smith has a book called "Rose for the Crown" that is about Richard and Katherine's mother that is pretty good. :)

Finished - average ( 3 1/2 stars ) I really didn't like the dual track story line nor the ending.

After Weir's Captive Queen, I doubt I'd ever try one of her fictional novels again. Life is too short.

Misfit, this one wasn't as horrible as Captive Queen but still just very...juvenile. That's the only word I can think of for it...

I agree that this isn't as bad as other novels and I also agree that it is juvenile. See the snippet from my review:

"Although this is an interesting devising of the story of the Princes; the detective work reads like a YA fiction novel (it is very Nancy Drew: Ghosts! Shadows!). Plus, Weir sticks to her usual opinions versus attempting to work through her characters to look at other leads or viewpoints."

Not the finest book I have ever read, but I have read a lot worse and I thought it showed that Weir has some talent as a writer. However, knowing her views on R3 I was never in any suspense at to how it was going to turn out.
