Elena I was quite bored with the first part of the book, too! I couldn't wait for the part with the tiger to begin :)
Only after, I realized that the beginning of the book is important to the overall story...

Manoj The book is much more interesting than the movie. Should read it.

the book is very good. You should read it first. Then you may consider the film, but honestly, it disappointed me. I doesn't deserve this Oscar.

Really? I actually liked the book and the movie... I saw the movie after reading the book and I thought it was pretty true to the book... Why/What didn't you like?

It's difficult to explain. I couldn't find these emotions and the spirit of this book in the film. Animation and special effects were really astonishing and beautiful, but it shouldn't be understood as the main forte of any production like this. Something is lacking. Of course it's only my opinion. I'm aware of the fact that many people enjoyed the adaptation. I I guess everything depends on what your expectations are. ;)

Actually, yes, i know what you mean. I liked the movie because it followed the story of the book - it didn't leave any important details out - and of course, the special effects were astonishing. But, I do agree with you that something was missing when comparing it to the book - it wasn't as emotional (books always depict that better than movies) and it wasn't as deep as the book was!

Robin Glasser Definitely read it & definitely see the film in 3D...it's one of the most gorgeous movies ever made...makes Avatar look dull in comparison...simply eye-amazing. The book is one of my favs...in fact, I read it twice!
cheers,
Robin

Victoria Collins I adored this book - I got completely sucked in to the story with no notion at all of the ending, and that made it for me. So if you can read it before seeing the movie and without reading all the hypotheses about it, please do. This to me is a great example of the power of writing to make us think and explore ideas, and the power of the imagination.

Jack Medley Read the book and then go and see the movie. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and thought they had done a good job adapting it to a movie.

Cherie Yes Anne. Please read the book! I think it appeals to both believers and non-believers. From what I understand, the book goes into more detail regarding the ending. I have not seen the movie yet.
