Gwen (gwenrb) | 8 comments When do you guys think is the best time to start a series, from the get go when the first book is released or when you find out about a series and 5 or 6 books have already been published? I having a bit of a dilemma with Chloe Neil's chicagoland vampires, it started well and I read most of the books in "one sitting" then I had to wait for book 7 and I just couldn't read it ( i am hoping for better with book 8) do you guys have the same problem? Sandra | 25908 comments Gwen, I always have a problem reading the last book out, especially if there are more coming. Don't know why, just do.

As to waiting for lots of books to be out or starting at the beginning? I do both.

There are just so many books that it would be impossible to keep up with them all, so if I find a series that I desperately love then I read & wait for the next book with bitten down to the quick fingernails.

If I hear about a book I think I might like and the series has been going awhile, I tend to collect the books, then read.

Katarina Pisarova | 4 comments I dont think something like an optimal start for reading a series exists ;)

Sometimes you start a series that is already finished or well on it way there but are dissapointed because the writting turnes sloppy or the story turns shellow or .... You get the point :)

Sometimes you start a new book then wait sitting on pins and needles only to swallow the book in one sitting and getting frustrated about waiting for the next instalment.

And so on, and so forth...

A good time usually is when you feel like it, 'cause you can never know how it will turn out.

Mimi | 2 comments I personally like it better when the series has already started. Basically because you don't have to wait like another year for the new book to come out. And during that year you read so many other good books you sometimes forget the plot of the 1st one by the time the new one comes out.

chucklesthescot I usually discover a series once it has been running for a while so I'm playing catch up. If I like book one, I buy the rest. I like being able to read them in a short time instead of waiting a year for the next in the series. Catching up also means you can usually get the books a bit cheaper! That's important when you have a budget!
