Kindle Reader??

Hey just wondered how many of you read your books on Kindle? I do. Love my Kinny! :)

Yes, I have had mine for almost 4 years now and don't know what I would do without it. I love everything about it, especially the buy with one click feature :) I still enjoy browsing in bookstores and will still buy a book I really enjoyed, just to have it in my bookshelf, but my kindle is a part of me and goes almost everywhere I go.

I've been reading more on my Kindle app on my computer or phone these days. Always on the go and someone else always have my Kindle. grrr.

I have had a Kindle for a few years, but really didn't use it until the last year or so. I was reading so much, especially while lying down, that the hardcover and paperback books were beginning to cause wrist problems for me, carpal tunnel now in both wrists. Since switching to my Kindle, everything is worlds better for my wrists, and when I go back to a hard copy book, my wrists act up again. Who knew that you could have sports injuries from being a book nerd. LOL.

It's so true, reading is like a sport. There are speed readers, so that is easily compared, who can read fastest. But also there are those that read comprehensively. You can always test that too, by asking really detailed questions, ones that only someone who was really into the details and made those deep emotional connections might know. There are also the pentathlon types of readers, people who read in all genres and styles and have a wide grasp of many different styles of writing, from 1st person to 3rd person, from fiction to non-fiction, from historical to fantasy, minimalist to descriptive, poetry to say something like Manga or Graphic Novels. I think I would be a huge FAIL at speed reading, but I could probably kick butt in the last two.
Maybe an interesting topic for a novel there Elle. LOL.

A future where what you can store in your head, and how you can access it becomes your ticket to upward mobility. Oh wait, that's life for most people who have an education, or lack of a living for those who are illiterate. Then there are the pretty people who don't need to have the magic skill-set, because they somehow manage to be merely decorative. Hmmm... this is some deep social commentary right here. [no mean to offend anyone, I am just blabbering.]

I adore my Kindle. The best thing about it is that it opened up a new world of reading to me with indie authors. There are so many books and authors I would have never found without it (including Elle).

I think I could compete in all of those Book Nerd Olympic events. I am a speed reader, but I couldn't read as fast to be a contender in comprehension. It takes me longer to read something critically than it does to read it for fun.

I only read on my Kindle now. In fact, I have several paperback books that I haven't read yet, but I just can't get myself to pick them up now. My kindle has spoiled me!!!! I remember when I ADORED actual books, I kind of miss that but not enough to give up my Kindle. I'll probably buy three more so that my kids all have one too.

I went to the pool last summer and I took an old paperback to read. I started reading it and when I got to the bottom of the first page, I tapped it with my thumb. It took me a good five seconds to figure out that the page wasn't going to turn by touching it.

I have three Kindles... I started with the second generation, got the Touch for xmas in 2011 and got the Paperwhite for xmas in 2012. I can't bear to get rid of them. I keep the old ones around as spares and I occasionally lend them out to friends.

I'm on my third Kindle, upgrades each time I changed.I do most of my reading on it now but still have lots of books in the house, some new & some from Freecycle that I haven't gotton to yet. Being older, it's helpful to be able to increase the type size while reading. My bifocals need help sometimes.LOL

I love my kindle.....I love it for all the features....type size, being able to read while working out, portable, storage(big book reader all my life)etc...BUT the very best part is just like Theresa said it opened up a whole new world for me with indie authors and being able to read stuff so soon after publication not having to wait.

I love my kindle and am also on my third one. Currently on a kindle fire, which I love! I also love my kindle app on my phone! No spare minute is a wasted spare minute, I've even been caught reading when out for a meal and my husband pops to the loo! However, my husband does not like my new spending finger - it is far too easy to buy books!

Couldn't live without my kindle! I am a blogger and just got a Kindle Fire to review! Whoot Whoot!! I have had 3 kindles prior to this, most recently the Kindle Touch. Love the Fire!!

I started out using the Kindle app for windows then finally got a Kindle this last Christmas and I'm hooked. I love my regular books but honestly don't think I'll be buying a whole lot of paperbacks anymore. The Kindle is just too convenient, my eyes don't hurt reading it and I have so much more room in my house now lol. Love my Kindle.

Did they give you a Kindle for free? I seriously need to think about getting into book blogging. I don't watch TV much and would rather read than anything else. Love leaving reviews too :)

I recently got an iPad mini and put the free Kindle software on it and it works like a charm. Love it. I've gone through 2 kindles so far (they break kind of easy in my opinion). I hope my iPad lasts longer.

I have an iPad mini with the kindle app and a kindle. I use them both. When one dies, I use the other and so on.

I've been using a Kindle for about 3 years. It is wonderful for traveling and because of my arthritis, I can read a 300 page book almost pain-free!

I completely agree. I read more Indie authors now than I read published authors. I really enjoy that they can let their imagination run loose instead of having to worry about monthly sales trends and what's "hot now".

I started by reading with the app on my iPhone (which i happen to be on, right now!). I bet I read 50+ books on the little screen. This is where I enjoyed most of Elle's books... My family took pity on me and I ended up with both an iPad mini and the latest Kindle at Christmastime! Devices galore! So, I'm back and fourth... But I was wondering.... I fight the glare when I'm out with the kids, so is the paper white a better option when I'm outside?

No glares on kindles period. Just like reading a book. :)

I find that there is a terrible glare on my kindle fire hd if I am outside during the day... even in the shade. is there a setting that I am not aware of or a screen protector I should get? This is my first kindle, so I am just learning the ropes. ;)

The Kindle Fire is like a tablet. (Niece and nephew have them) The regular Kindle is the way to go (for me) just like reading a book! No glare. Haven't tried the paperwhite.

I have the regular Kindle keyboard 3G. I spend a lot of time outside reading while my Huskies play, so no glare is important. When I replace mine, which is starting to play up, it will have to be another 3G regular Kindle. I just hope I save enough money to buy a new one before mine stops working in protest of being overworked :(

I agree. When I get a new one, it will be the regular with the keyboard. Unsure on the paperwhite. Just seems too expensive. The keyboard Kindle works great for me.

I have the cheapest version of the Kindle and it's great. No glare at all.

I have the kindle with the full keyboard, not sure which one it is, but I love it. It's hard to go back to paperbacks or hardcover novels after using one.
