Monica Pena I agree with you that are great books, and like you I read all four. In fact, I read Beautiful chaos and beautiful darkness in less than a week. I was not trying to compare these series with Twilight. I also read the Twilght series and saw all five movies. I just use them as an example of how books can come to life in a movie, just like I can't wait for the mortal instuments. I just wish they would stick to some of the details like I mentioned above, such as bringing Marian in the picture or have a better show on the story line. I like how in the books for the most part it was the guy's point of view and if I can compare with Twilight, it would of be better from Edward's point of view which it got ruined. Twilight and beautiful creatures are different but in the end it is somehow similar where the characters fall in love and ther love is impossible but they beat the odds and end up together which made great stories to read.

Beautiful Creatures I do not know if they are making a sequel to the movie, and I agree with several of y'all that they left out important characters and scenes. However, I for one like to see books made into movies just to see a little how the characters would look on screen and I thought that the role of Ethan and Lena were played very well, and also the role of Macon, so yes I'd like to see a sequel to the movie.

Sabine I have now read Beautiful Darkness and Beautiful Chaos, and now I know how important a few of the characters and things they let out actually are, so if they make another movie they have a lot to fix.
But in the first Percy Jackson-movie they also let out a lot of important stuff and they are still making a second movie, so it might be possible, but they have a lot to fix and a lot of explaining to do if they are going to make a second movie.

message 54: by Monica (new)

Monica Pena I hope that if they decide to make a sequel, I agree that they have a lot of fixing to do, specially giving link, Serafine and Ridley better scenes and bring also Marian in and for once, better visual effects such as showing the green and gold eyes and keep them not switch to brown.

I read the book and watched the movie, and I won't lie, a LOT was missing, but the way they ended it made me wanna scream. It was so good, I wanted to cry. the acting was simply amazing. Well done. And I just love Ridley. If you haven't read the book or watched the movie, that's what you need to do.

Agree with everything except the five great Twilight movies. IMO, only four of them were good. LOL That first one, I look back on and want to weep it was so horrible. But then, Hardwicke was on crack. Had to be. That's the only thing that allows me to sleep at night.

Ramon Rodriguez I just finished the first book and just saw the movie right after. I liked the movie. Of course i didnt like that they changed some things. They could have shown Lena's love for Ethan like she did in the movie and used the curse to save Ethan. If they followed the book it would have been great. But for the changes they made, I liked how Ethan remembered her at the end. perfect connection for a sequel, if the book series never existed.

Totally agree, the actress who plays Ridley is just fantastic

message 59: by Ramon (new)

Ramon Rodriguez i think they should just create the movie again. they did it for spiderman and HULK and many others... i think they needed another production company. IT WOULD be the next twilight if they just remade it. it was just the production company and director. my thought for a director... Guillermo Del Toro from Pan's Labyrinth, The Orphanage, and Hellboy 2.

There needs to be a sequel because I kinda go crazy thinking about what would happen next and so on. Its like watching The Hunger Games and waiting a year to see Catching Fire.

The cast was perfect, except for alden ehrenreich,

and Sarafine should have been 2 actresses, just like in the book

ill tell you this... they SHOULD remake Beautiful Creatures. I would bet anything that it WILL be the next Twilight. not a fan of Twilight but i just know it would be. Beautiful Creatures was amazing! I'm starting the second book today

Sadie Nope, didn't do well at the box office so most likely not.
Unless they want to make a low-budget straight-to-dvd sequel.

message 65: by Ramon (new)

Ramon Rodriguez REMAKE. and if they are worried about a duplicate title, they can change them to:

"The Caster Chronicles: Beautiful Creatures"
"The Caster Chronicles: Beautiful Darkness"
"The Caster Chronicles: Beautiful Redemption"
"The Caster Chronicles: Beautiful Chaos"

yeah... but the movie business doesnt see it that way... they are gonna say... "read the books then if you want to know what happens next." with the way that the authors explained in the behind the scenes footage that there were changes, it didnt seem like they liked the changes. not gonna lie, the changes fit great, but the book was better. WAY BETTER.

message 67: by Beautiful (new)

Beautiful Creatures I really want them to make a sequel, or remake the movie with the same actors.

Ramon Rodriguez Beautiful wrote: "I really want them to make a sequel, or remake the movie with the same actors."

i read that Marian is part of the second book a lot so with her not being in the sequel, it would be completely f'd up... so i think that in order to make a sequel, they will have to remake the film. hopefully they follow the book this time. the book was freakin amazing. but the change of letting ethan go to forget her was cool and had a great ending.... if the book series never existed.

Savannah- Quad Motherin' Book Readin' Diva This will never be a remake; the fan base isn't big enough for that type of investment. There wouldn't be a big enough pay off for the production company.

Again, if folks can embrace that first Twilight...I say we just swallow what we didn't like about the first one and move on to the next LOL.

message 70: by Beautiful (new)

Beautiful Creatures Exactly!! Cause the first twilight sucked!

message 71: by Ramon (new)

Ramon Rodriguez Beautiful wrote: "Exactly!! Cause the first twilight sucked!"

yeah... but did they take things out from the first twilight book in the film and as much that it would mess up the second movie?

message 72: by Beautiful (new)

Beautiful Creatures That is true, and that's why I agree they should remake it with the same actors just adding the ones left out and sticking to more of the book.

message 73: by Ramon (new)

Ramon Rodriguez http://www.imdb.com/list/eXSTa5zlHYA/

check out this cast for Beautiful Darkness. great ideas for Sarafine, and Paula Patton as Marian Ashcroft. oh yes... but i dont think that Christa Allen would be a good Lena.

message 74: by Beautiful (new)

Beautiful Creatures I mean I like them, but I really liked the actors of Ethan and Lena. So they can use those actors listed, just keep the ones of Ethan and Lena lol.

Savannah- Quad Motherin' Book Readin' Diva Ramon wrote: "Beautiful wrote: "Exactly!! Cause the first twilight sucked!"

The first Twilight barely resembled the book. The characters were there-that's it. It was missing a TON of details and what they did include they poured into like one scene that ended up being a badly written information dump. Pretty much everything after they went to Portland and he found her was massacred.

So its definitely possible for fans to still get something out of a series of films that have deviated SEVERELY from the books.

message 76: by Michelle (new)

Michelle finished all the books they brilliant so bring out more of the movies please

message 77: by Beautiful (new)

Beautiful Creatures Exactly!!

message 78: by Cristina (new)

Cristina first few times i watched the movie i fell asleep... i finally watched the entire thing and being it was the third time watching (first time not falling asleep) i think it grew on me... i separated myself from the book and took the movie for what it was and now it is not as horrible or disappointing as it was the first time i tried to watch it... like others, i wasn't thrilled with the casting but now i'm ok with it and ready for a second movie if they decide to make it... kind of hoping they do to see where they go with it...

SassyPsycho I read the books and saw the movie. And althought I wish for more. I think were they left off was perfect! And I really think that it would be harder to make the other books in to movies.

message 80: by Ramon (new)

Ramon Rodriguez Still no word... But no matter what, they better remake it. "The Caster Chronicles: Beautiful Creatures". I liked the movie but it didn't follow the book.

message 81: by Ramon (new)

Ramon Rodriguez I hate when they say that "you can't finish a book in 2 hours. We can't fit the entire book in the movie." Around 65% of the book is only description and explaining their thoughts. It can be done

message 82: by Monica (new)

Monica Pena Thank you Ramon! Finally someone understood what my thoughts are about this movie...

message 83: by Ramon (new)

Ramon Rodriguez If I had the talent for this profession, I would make the movie myself! Seriously, it's bugged me so much that this book was great and they f'd up the movie. I mean, in Hunger Games, the Muttations were the tributes that died. It didn't matter in the movie, but it would be a great twist. Why couldn't they have the "on the edge of our seats" moments:
-Ethan's dad about to commit suicide
-Ethan getting stabbed by Serafine

So don't give me the "it won't fit in a movie" MAKE THE MOVIE 2 hours and 30 minutes! Who cares?? Lord of the rings was 9 hours total. Do you think they cared??? Nope!

In summary:

DON'T FUK UP THE GREAT BOOKS THAT ARE WRITTEN!!! IF YOU ARE NOT GONNA FOLLOW IT, DON'T EVEN TRY IT!!!

message 84: by Monica (new)

Monica Pena Amen, Ramon!

message 85: by Brittney (last edited Aug 21, 2013 09:34PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Brittney Agreed. ^^

The small things really bugged me a ton. Mainly the milk duds in the popcorn. That was Lena's thing. Not Ethan's. And the fact that they had Mr. Grant as the half blind teacher instead of Mrs. English. And there were no crosswords or red hots. None of the Greats. Who are REALLY IMPORTANT for the last book/movie.

I could keep going. I have so many gripes with this movie. And some of these things were so POINTLESS to change. WHY change them? It's not like it would've made their job harder, or the movie any longer. Honestly.

message 86: by Ramon (new)

Ramon Rodriguez I don't see how M. Stohl and K. Garcia let the director do what he did!!! Watch the behind the scenes and you can hear it in their voices that they were not happy. Just happy that their book was becoming a movie.

message 87: by Monica (new)

Monica Pena Amen, Ramon!

message 88: by Ramon (new)

Ramon Rodriguez I read somewhere that Warner Bros. owns the rights to Beautiful Creatures. But that's the problem. Yea, the movie was great, but it didn't follow the story. It sucks that they would change someone's work like that.

True, the movie was great. I really enjoyed the ending. Great way to do that. He realizes he remembers. I didn't like that they didn't explain why she didn't get chosen Light or Dark. She just waved her hand and the moon was gone. It would have been a better connection to the second book if they had either Lena, Ethan or even Amma read in the book "seventeen moons". Just like how in Hunger Games they show the execution of Seneca Crane at the end and watching President Snow walk away.

Damn I write a lot. Lol

Asiyah It pains me that the people who watched this movie and never read the book will never know the true genius behind the original story. I admit, if this movie was just on it's own and didn't use the name Beautiful Creatures I would've loved it. A lot. And half my brain does. But the other half that was instinctively comparing it with the book was screaming. The acting was PHENOMANAL! The actor the played Ethan was great, and hilarious, and the actress that played Lena was wonderful so definitely no hate on them. But I can't ignore my book loving side of my brain so I probably wouldn't watch the second one..

Minken I hope to God no! I really enjoyed the book but the movie was just so wrong and it really irritated me. The only good thing about it was Ethan. He was kind of what I pictured plus he was funny and charming. But Lena was all wrong! Her accent was really bad. And to be honest they didn't have very good chemistry.(to me it looked like he was trying but she wasn't giving)

message 91: by Monica (new)

Monica Pena I am with your loving book part of your brain. What is the point of making a movie based on a story or a book if they are going completely in a different direction. To me if I was the author, would kill me. Again maybe if I have not read the whole series, I might of liked it but, dah! Books comes out way before thinking of making a movie. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't even considering making a film out of a book if the story is not good.
