Gem was still a little bit wary but she agreed anyway. She turned to the lady"Yes ma'am I think we would like to try it out." The old woman clasped her pudgy hands and smiled. "How wonderful! Im Mrs.White but mostly everyone calls me Ma." She hugged Gem and Echo both. Then she looked in the direction of rest of the flock. "Are they with you too?"

Echo tensed slightly when she was touched by this stranger. It was unusual, "Yes, they are with us," she answered stiffly

Ma hugged them too. She then grew stern and put her hands on her hips. "Now tell me, where are your parents?" Gem stiffened.

Echo answered quickly, knowing hesitation would make Ma suspecious of them. "Well, you see dad walked out after a few years, no knowing why. Disappeared off the face of the Earth. And mom, she, she is ill," she said sadly, making tears form in the corner of her eyes. Quite the show

((We were looking for a library to learj more about the dday stuff. Coulndt see one so we landed at a store owned by an elderly husband and wife. We asked about the library (which we now know where it is) ahd about a place to stay. They offered us to stay at their bed and breakfast next door to the store. We agreed and are still in the shop currently. Theyre asking were our parents are. Ps theyre not evil..))

Gem nodded sadly, she could tell that Ma didnt believe them by the way she raised her eyebrows. Anyone could tell by looking at them that none of them looked even remotely similar. Gem sniffled and said "We just need a place to stay while our adoptive mother is getting better." Ma softened a little bit and asked,"You dont have any other family members to stay with you?"

Echo shook her head sadly, "No, mam, we don't. We don't know any of dads siblings or parents. And moms older sister died three years ago in a plane crash," she said sadly. She didn't care if Ma believed them or not. If she suspected anything, they could leave easily

Ma clucked like a worried mother hen. "Oh my," she clutched her chest. "Y'all stay here as long as you need for no charge. Ya hear? And if you need anything, just tell me or Pa."

Gem nodded. "Thank you so much." She felt guilty for lying to her but then again, they couldnt risk being found. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Ivie sitting in the corner. She walked over to her. "Ives, you okay?"

Gem bit her lip. "I dont know Ives."

She sighed and stood up from her spot next to Ivie. She checked into the bed and breakfast and said to the flock, "Alright, who's coming to the library and who's staying here?"

"Ill go to the library," Echo offered and sad half smile, knowing it must be hard to leave her sister.

"I haven't looked yet, but I'll do it now." Gem answered Zach. She saw Snow run up to her. "What's up Snow?" She asked, confused at her baby voice.

Gem chuckled softly and said,"We may be able to use that ability to our advantage someday." She wondered if she was able to turn into other things besides different versions of herself. Gem shook her head and reminded herself what they were there to do. "Okay guys, this is really cool and stuff but we came here to research. We can discuss this new 'ability' when we get back to the bed and breakfast where there aren't any prying eyes." She sat down at one computer and started.

When Gem typed in doomsday, thousands of search results came up. She scrolled through them with a frown. There were so many of them. She clicked on one at random.

When the webpage came up, Gem saw a huge banner at the top that said: The One Light is the only way. She shook her head in disgust and read what was on the page.

"Tell me about it." She said as she continued to scan the page. There were tshirts and everything advertising it. She clicked on the Contact Us ribbon. It said the email and address to the headquarters. "Bingo." She clicked on Print Page and quickly grabbed it. She Googled the address and printed out the directions. She sighed, raked a hand through her hair, and started the process again with a different webpage.

"What?" She looked up at Ivie.

"How exactly are we gonna do that here? There's probably a uh..hair cutting place somewhere around here."
