Despite all this there's something about going into a bookstore, library or even a flea market booth with a lot of books that just takes my breath away. It's like a rush of aderneline. If the day comes when technology takes over it will be a real loss.

Oh Rainy Day, I understand that feeling well and couldn't agree more!!!!! There is nothing more exciting than having all those books to browse through. It's like striking gold! lol And I too hope that technology doesn't kill the paper book. It will never be the same.

Right!! and I like the fact that I have my very own small library

But, for me, nothing (nothing!) beats the excitement of receiving that highly anticipated book in the mail.... opening the package... running your hands over the cover....having a quick sneak peak inside...tingling with joy... then finally getting to curl up to savor and read...Bliss!
Neither can you compare, IMO, clicking through online blurbs for downloads with visiting a library, a bookstore, or a booksale and discovering those authors that are now bound to become favourites, or spotting those covers that draw you in so that you just HAVE to read the blurb and put yet another read in your basket/bag.
Sorry, but the experience of 1-click may be convenient (and super fast), but it is just simply not the same.

I like that it has a light for nighttime reading in bed.
And of course I love reading from a real book. I like them about 50/50. The phone is so convenient.
I've answered this before (I totally prefer books) but, well, we are all getting older. . . I have arthritis in my hands and wrists, and sometimes even a paperback weights more than I can stand, especially one of those big 400+ page jobbers. And, well, I quilt and knit, and frankly would prefer to be able to KEEP ON doing those. So I need to stave off the crippling effects of arthritis as long as possible. (Altho on a positive note, they now have surgeries to help repair the damage done on hands because of arthritis--but it has to be MUCH worse than mine is to have your insurance cover it.)
Still, there are certain books that I just have to have,/I> it as a book. They are usually books that are part of a series (or author) that I collect.
Well, it's 3:19 am here, and I'm going to go try, yet again, to get some sleep.
But let's all give ourselves a little pat, no matter if we prefer our books, Kindle, Nook or other e-reader. Long live the "printed" word, in whatever form it takes.

Hannah--that question is just too silly for words. Especially in THIS crowd. It just means that you fit in with all of us. :o) Even the Kindle/Nook/e-reader group loves their books. It's just, well, for some of us that e-reader in whatever form is something we use for our own ease and comfort. (And, when I go to visit my Mum's family, so that I have something to READ without having to pack an entire suitcase full of books. I'm not saying that the library in the town that my Aunts and Uncles live in is small, but, well, I own at least twice, maybe three times as many book books as the library does. And on more subjects.)

Before I got my Kindle I thought I would hate it, that the feel of the books was part of the experience. Now I get annoyed with ink and paper cuts on my hands when I dig out an old favorite.
Have actually debated Re-buying some of my more common re-reads on the kindle...

and then I don't find flipping back and forth to pages I want to re-read or reference as easy. But other than that, I'm 100% kindle.

When i got my mp3 player i havent bough a cd since and download music.
When i got my TV I started downloading movies and rarely go to the cinema.
If i get a kindle i will download books and i love going into waterstones or 2nd hand shops browing books.

Thanks!
I'm assuming that's some kind of lizard or large insect? Or were you asking about the vampire book/cover that was the next picture?
