University libraries closed to the public

If it is a state school library, and you pay state taxes I feel that you should have some access to the material. I understand that the students need access to the material in order to complete their studies, but if the material is used in the library for reference purposes, I'm not sure I would see the problem.

Anyone can go into our library or any library at any University I've ever attended. I think the public universities allowed people to check out books, but you had to apply and maybe pay a fee. I'm not sure about the private universities, including the one where I'm at now.

There is also an "Anonymous Confessions" board which opens up around the same time at the Berkeley livejournal group. I really regret having read some of them. It took me a while to recover from/repress a lot of the things people confessed to doing in the library. Like. How can you even DO that in a cubicle? And not be noticed?
Um. Yeah.

He was kind of famous for a little while, though no one knows who he is.

Hard at play in the one of the Doe Library cubicles. This was during FINALS season, mind you, when the library is open 24/7 and seats are impossible to secure. And he should have had to carry in his computer from at least 1/2-3/4 miles away.

Oh Jackie why would you ever kick some body out for drinking beer? Was it before bar time?

When I was in High School, dozens of times, we actually had the UWP listed in Playboy as one of the top streaking colleges in the nation, I believe we were #8 or 9.
My favorite time was when there were six of us in the car 3 guys and 3 girls, and the guys decided to go streaking, and the girls were to pick us up on the other side of the dorm block(cheerleading camp that week). Well the first guy was out of the car and streaking yelling streakers at the top of his lungs so that when us other two streaked by all the windows and curtains were open with people looking out.
Then to make matters worse the girls drove by with our clothes, but didn't bother to stop, so we ended up naked in the cemetery. About every ten to fifteen minutes they drove by waving to us as we hid behind tombstones. after an hour or so they through our clothes out, and then about a half hour after that they finally picked us up.
Oh to be young and stupid again.

I went to the FSU Library to look up something in a law book and was told I had to leave because the library was for students only!
Do you think this is right ? Do you think that school libraries should be for students only?
It is my opinion that Colleges and Universities have the best libraries, with the best collections of books , NOT TO CHECK OUT but just to look things up in.
What is your thoughts on this?
