I'd try to bake a mini pie, but I'm not sure where I could hide it until I was ready to eat it. My hubby and kids are THAT good at sniffing out the treats. XD

LOL, I can believe it. It always seems like when it's something good or right around the holidays some family members' sniffers get stronger and stronger. Especially in my fam cause my uncle and cousin could smell the sweet potato pies a mile away or Christmas cookies even if they were made like 3 to 4 days ago. And go wild finding them. And then have the nerve to put in a request for their OWN pies to go too. Family is a trip haha.

Words that strike fear in the center of my heart: "Oh hey, ice cream!" (Keep in mind that my kids are teenagers.) XD

My favorite pie is pumpkin, without a doubt. I make them at Thanksgiving and Christmas, along with sweet potato and pecan.

Pecan, on the other hand ... too rich for me. Not a big fan of mincemeat pie, either. But I could snarf fruit pies all day long. XD

And wait, isn't a mincemeat pie a sort of meat pie? Or that a shepherd's pie? I always get the two mixed up.

Shepherd pie is a meat pie with a top crust of mashed potatoes. =)

I've never had a pot pie. Mom didn't appreciate university cooking where they'd do a lot of pot pies with mystery ingredients. And she was unable to make a pie crust to save her life so making a pot pie would be a challenge. I've looked at pot pie recipes and just think 'meh, why bother putting this together?'
So it's like the story about dad's mom's meatloaf where it was mostly el cheapo cream of mushroom soup and rolled oats instead of meat. I don't touch cream of mushroom soup.
Although we do have a hamburger/meatloaf recipe that I make since it's "real" ingredients and not cheap fillers. Dad prefers to not ever eat meatloaf if he can help it to this day. He'll eat it in hamburger form though.

To be honest I've never made one from scratch either. But do love the Banquet brands. Sure it's quick and popping it in the microwave is no work at all. But there is nothing like the tender peas and carrots. Hot and steamy potatoes with bits of chicken. Truly very delish. And actually pretty quick for lunch.
I'm not partial to meatloaf of any kind. Even with the hamburger mix. I know folks have told me countless times it is just burger with some ketchup on it. I just can't get into it. It's always too dry, too thick, and always sticks in my throat. Definitely not a fave.
I'll add too that I'm not a fan of mushrooms either. So a combo of the toy would definitely having me pushing it around my plate like the little kids do, lol.

Ya know, I can admire some homemade biscuits. Although the best biscuit I've ever had came from Popeye's. Not too big, not dry, but definitely soft and flaky and beautiful. Although my folks love the big homemade biscuits to go with sausage and gravy. So best of both worlds for some.

My hamburger/meatloaf recipe doesn't use ketchup or tomato sauce in it. And most definitely no cream of anything soup.
It's ground beef, onions, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, dry mustard, an egg and some oats for a panade. Occasionally I add bbq sauce into it.
And if you want a "gross" recipe, I've seen a 'mac and cheese' recipe that was noodles, cheddar cheese soup and maybe something to thicken it up with a touch of real cheese added in.

My meatloaf is fantastic. The key is to not use just ground beef. Put another meat in with a higher fat percentage, like pork or ground lamb. Delish! Most people also bake meatloaf too long, which dries it out and makes it tough.
I made a foot-shaped meatloaf for The Walking Dead mid-season premier last year. It was a smash hit with the fam.

Hmm, I'm sure if done the right way that mac and cheese could be interesting. But yea really have to know how to cook to bring some life to it.

My cousin's wife did the same with the foot idea. At first my mom and I didn't get it. Til we had read her caption.

I saw a foot meatloaf on fb the other day with visible onions for the nails. I'm tempted to try it, but seems like a lot of work when I could just make patties and stick in skillet.

My sister has zombie cookie cutters, so we like to make zombie sugar cookies for season premiers too.

Yea can't have a dry loaf, lol. Almost like a really good cake.

I'll have to mKe sure to have wine on hand cause the more I drank, the better I was at it. That single minded buzz focus had me in the zone.

LOL, any particular year work best?

But yeah, pumpkin spice everything is already getting old. I like the occasional pumpkin spice candle (I'm a scented candle addict, lol), and I can do a couple of pumpkin desserts ... but beyond that, it's bleh. I really have no desire whatsoever to smell like pumpkin spice.
And just for the record, pumpkin spice candy corn tastes HORRIBLE!
