D.R. Mayes (drmayes) | 3 comments I like to read one book at a time but sometimes I will read two.

message 52: by Joel (new)

Joel Schwan (joelschwan) | 1 comments I use to read multiple books, having a different one in different places all the time (bathroom, bedroom and the car). Lol. Nowadays I read only one at a time because of time.

message 53: by Susan (new)

Susan (anne1028) | 7 comments I usually have one on the go on my nook, an audio book for my commute to work in the car, and one for night-time reading that I keep on my bedside table so that is typically three at once.

message 54: by Suhan (new)

Suhan Gurer Ever since I've started reading on a regular schedule, I've been reading minimum of 2 books at a time with maximum being 5. However, when the number goes over 2, one of the extra book(s) has always been a comic strip. Easier to digest more informative books like economics or detailed history while taking a break with the funny stuff.

message 55: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 4 comments I often read more than one book at a time. There are times I am already reading a book and because I am in a book buddy group I will begin reading a book that my book buddy and I agreed to read. Also, I read different types of books so I can decide by my mood.

message 56: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 18 comments I used to be really strict about only ever reading one book at a time. For the last 3 years, though, I've worked at a job that allows me to read during slow times and I generally leave that book there. At home, I usually have another fiction book going and sometimes a third, usually nonfiction or a tougher read. Three is my limit, though

message 57: by Bobbi (new)

Bobbi (bobbi817) | 7 comments I typically only read one book at a time but will read more then one if I am trying to work my way through a big book or series. I am starting to read the Game of Thrones and know I will not be able to read it start to finish without reading something lighter at the same time. However, if reading more then one book at a time they have to be different genres, I find that helps with mixing up the stories. Also, if I am reading for a book club I will read something else to stay on track with where the rest of the other members are.

message 58: by Jill (new)

Jill Sanders (jillmsanders) I can usually read two at a time. One on my PC and a paperback for when I can't take the PC with me. I don't have a kindle yet. :(

But, I can keep track just fine.

message 59: by Ambryn (new)

Ambryn I am currently reading several books at once. I am reading Far Horizons, Capitol Murder and Two Graves.

message 60: by Jojo (new)

Jojo (jojosbooknook) | 717 comments I'm usually a one book girl, but I forgot to charge my ereader and my cord isn't long enough for where I'm sitting, so I'm going to start a 'real' book and go back to the other one once it's charged!

message 61: by Nidia (new)

Nidia (thatgirlreads) | 16 comments Even though there are like 11 gabajillion books on my currently reading list, I really only read one at a time.

message 62: by Jenni (new)

Jenni (jcarlene) I myself can only read one book at a time. I just need to concentrate on one story or else I'll confuse the two or three:-). Not sure how others do it.

message 63: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Szewczuk Just one book at a time.

I tried reading multiple books once a few years back, but it didn't work well for me. Perhaps because I read a lot at night when I'm already tired and easily confused. Read about 3 chapters of a book, the whole time wondering where Harry went, and then realized I wasn't reading Harry Potter.

message 64: by Patty (new)

Patty (pepperrn) | 39 comments usually 2 at a time. sometimes 3

HA HA HA, that made me proper belly laugh :D

message 66: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Owen (mel5brady) | 3 comments I do that all the time!

message 67: by Bess (new)

Bess I read one book at of time.

message 68: by [deleted user] (new)

Me too. I only read one at a time but on my currently reading I put the books I am going to read after that. Those are the books I Got at the library but that is not currently reading but I just put those books on there :)

message 69: by [deleted user] (new)

I mostly read one book at a time, but lately I have just been trying out reading a certain book in the evening and another during the day, but when they are done I think i will revert back to one at a time.

message 70: by Bajen (new)

Bajen I read at least 3 or 4 books at a time. It has worked out a lot but I also might try one book at a time. I wonder what will happen if I get bored and loose interest in the book, that is how I get started on reading more that one book.

message 71: by Keely (new)

Keely | 20 comments I read multiple books at one time. Its often because so many look so good I cant decide which one I want to read first. Usually the one that interests me the most gets the most attention and once that is complete I will work on the others. Sometimes I am not in the mood to read a type of genre on that particular night, so I will read something else. There is always one book I am currently reading that is an audiobook. I have a long commute to work (45 mins - 1 hr depending on traffic). A good book entertains me on those long rides.

message 72: by Christine (new)

Christine Hatfield (christinesbookshelves) | 800 comments I'm a one book person too Kyle

message 73: by Sara (new)

Sara (sdingel) | 52 comments I am a book floozy. No matter how good the book is I always have a minimum of 3 and a maximum of about 7. Usually a couple if novels and history books. I have an ereader but I never use it. Something about a plain ol' book in your hand that works for me.

message 74: by Kateryna (new)

Kateryna Byednenko I guess for me it depends on the book and my spirit...There are some books that i just have to put all my energy and atention into them otherwise i start to mix stories and don´t absorb what any of them has to offer. But sometimes i have the need to read several books at the same time, don´t really know the reason why.. :)

message 75: by Christine (new)

Christine Hatfield (christinesbookshelves) | 800 comments Yep Kyle

message 76: by Annie (new)

Annie (angelannie) Sara I'm stealing that! Book Floozy!! I love it!! I read up to ten books at a time - I just want to read everything - right now!!

message 77: by Sara (new)

Sara (sdingel) | 52 comments Annie wrote: "Sara I'm stealing that! Book Floozy!! I love it!! I read up to ten books at a time - I just want to read everything - right now!!"

Ha ha, glad you like it! What are some of your favorites?

message 78: by Jojo (new)

Jojo (jojosbooknook) | 717 comments I've been a book floozy recently and it hasn't got me anywhere except a lot of half read books and nothing finished! I think I'm going back to book monogamy!

message 79: by Sara (new)

Sara (sdingel) | 52 comments Ha ha, well you have to do what works for you.

Jackie - Fire & Ice Book Reviews (jackiefireicebookreviews) I am currently reading 6 books, 2 I put aside for later. The thing is I am in the middle of challenges and group reads for so many groups, but I try to read them one group at a time, and not all at once.

message 81: by Liz (new)

Liz (busy91) I am a multiple book reader. No more than 3 at a time usually. I try to have it planned out that I read:

1 fiction
1 non-fiction
1 audio book (fic or non fic)

Surprisingly, this is what is happening in my world now. It is not always the case.

I usually do finsih all the books I start (unless they are bad bad bad).

Barbara Osterdock | 4 comments I am reading four right now. One is in the car, one is for a book club, so I am under the gun on that one, one I have been reading for a year (got stuck on some technical part, I think I can get into it now), and one was given to me by my daughter and will be reading soon.

message 83: by Jakeyfatdog (new)

Jakeyfatdog I love that expression "book floozy"! That is sooooo me lol. I read several at one time, mainly because I have them scattered all over the house and will pick up the one to hand. I do seem to have a " main" book which is the one I read the most. Once that is finished another one will become the main book. I also have "dip in" books like drawing books, that will be listed as being read but I will be dipping in and out. I do find my mood/energy level makes a difference to what I want to read. Some books need a fresh head not a tired one. Oh yes and like a lot of others on here I will read something on kindle while I wait somewhere (dentist/train/garage) because the kindle fits in my handbag and a lot of other books don't.

message 84: by Patty (new)

Patty (pepperrn) | 39 comments i usually read 2 at a time. one on the Kindle and one real book! right now i am reading The Book Thief and The Paris Wife

message 85: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (shelld79) I also usually read three at a time. One 'real' book I can get comfy with at night in bed, one on my kindle I can read through the day and usually one on audio in my car for the drive to and from work.

message 86: by Jane(Pixie) (new)

Jane(Pixie) (janepixie_mitzkewich) | 33 comments I am living on Guam. I just like people there in the mainland to know that life here isn't changing. We are all enjoying and the simpler life. The North Koreans have not changed much, they're still disconcerting and misguided. Getting books here isn't always easy. I am happy to report that my reading life is expanding thanks to time, ebooks, my digital library, my local book club and finding goodreads. I seem to be joining reading multitaskers. The goal was a novel a week but includes enjoying a steady stream of audiobooks and scanning digital books so the next read is always reading.

message 87: by Brightness (new)

Brightness (brightnessreads) | 429 comments I'm usually reading two books at once. While I tend to concentrate more on one, I like to have a second book that's quite different in case my mood changes. I usually have a book that I really want to read, the kind that requires a certain atmosphere - like curled up on my couch with a glass of wine or a mug of tea and no interruptions.
Then I have a second what I like to call "fluff" book that's an easy breezy read for waiting rooms, subway rides, ect.
I think I need to try audiobooks more. I download them for really long car trips, but I wonder if I should listen to them more often.

message 88: by [deleted user] (new)

I read more than two books at once, depending on my mood and what I feel into at the time. Sometimes I'll leave a story for a few weeks if another gets really good and wander back later. That's probably a bad habit, and also why it takes me forever to read the classics....I try to be reading one classic, one new one, and one I've already read before to keep things interesting. So far it's working.

message 89: by Diana (new)

Diana Gotsch | 37 comments My profile shows usually shows four. Always a cookbook. whatever I playing in the kitchen with at the time. One is what I'm listening to in the car or while I clean the house. the other two are a hard copy of something to read in the evening or at other times around the house and a book on my kindle mostly for travel and sitting in waiting rooms.

message 90: by Nuala (new)

Nuala (Oughtonn) My main reasons for reading more than one book at a time has to be the mood I'm in, whether it is a hardback or > 400pages ( not the easiest to commute with in busy London- maybe I should get a kindle) and trying to prolong the suspense of the ending. Does any one else do the latter?

message 91: by Diana (new)

Diana Summers | 1 comments I usually read two. It helps during any slow parts. I just finished reading "the Long Walk" and "Outlander". I was captivated by the The Long Walk, started it 2nd, but finished it first. I was bored with the meticulous descriptions of Jamie's repetitious beatings and their love life. Ugh! Yet, I wanted to finish reading it because so many people liked it. I will not be reading the other 7 follow up novels. One to better & brighter writing.

message 92: by Victor (new)

Victor Muthoka (hundredpercent) I read 3-8 books at a time.

message 93: by Zouagie (new)

Zouagie | 48 comments Victor wrote: "I read 3-8 books at a time."

Me too! I can't help it.

message 94: by Patricia (new)

Patricia (flyfishflutist) I have Out Stealing Horses on audio in the car, Salmon Fishing in the Yemen upstairs, The Dance of the Seagull downstairs, and Life After Life on my Kindle. (Plus a stack of five waiting.....)

message 95: by Namrota (new)

Namrota Mazumdar | 8 comments I usually read two books; one novel another collection of short stories; to keep my mood sway in different directions.
Currently though, I am reading one but will be taking up short stories soon.

message 96: by Chelsea (new)

Chelsea Morrison (chelsealouise07) Sometimes I'll read more than one at a time, but that's only if I have a couple I really CANNOT wait to read. Other than those times, I just read one at a time.

message 97: by Emily (new)

Emily I usually read two at a time. One "classic" novel that's harder to read, and then easy teen fictions. Usually I have to read three books at a time because I have required reading for classes :/

message 98: by Misha (new)

Misha (itz_mie) | 365 comments I usually read only one buk @ a tym...
