While this is a group for readers of British horror fiction, I know there are a lot of writers who use Goodreads and if you would like to be added to the list then provided you meet the criteria you will be considered.

If you wish to be added to the list let me know on this thread. I will check that you're a) British and b) a horror writer, and if you meet the above criteria I will add a folder for you and a couple of discussion topics to get you started. (group member) will be added to your name so that readers are aware that you are active in this group.

This group is about finding books, not being force-fed them, so please refrain from inappropriate spamming on unrelated threads. Within your own folder feel free to add topics as you wish. Inappropriate spamming will result in you being removed from the group.

Please note that all listings are at the moderator's discretion. No exceptions.

Happy reading!

Hi Chris,
I am an avid reader and an author of horror/ paranormal/ghosts/zombies and anything creepy. I live in Bristol in the UK but have lived in many places throughout the country. I love spooky places and often include them in my books. I have had very few sales and I believe it is because my style of writing is very English/European.

I like books that are a bridge to somewhere completely different to my mundane, everyday world. I enjoy reading books by other who also think outside the box. People ask authors to review there books all the time but it is very difficult if they are in a genre that you don't enjoy.
Thank you for accepting me into your group.

David Haynes Hi Chris, I'd like to be added to this group please. I've written two Victorian horror books and plan writing a third.

By the way, I see you're a cricket fan. I'm a MASSIVE cricket fan. My team is Somerset and I firmly believe that Marcus Trescothick is God. I live in Japan now but I got to see a 40/40 game when I was home a few years ago and he was out in something like the 8th over for 55. I didn't realise it was possible to hit a ball so hard.

Very excited about the back to back Ashes series this year, though I have no idea quite what the fixture compilers are playing at putting them next to each other like that. Ridiculous. But I digress ...

message 9: by David (new)

David Haynes Thanks, Chris.

Great stuff! Yes Trescothick was one of the most explosive players I've ever seen. He could've been one of the all time greats had he defeated his demons. The Ashes is simply the highlight of the year for cricket fans. I enjoy it being in England but there's always something wonderful about it being in Aus. Getting up in the early hours and watching it in peace and quiet before everyone gets up!

Do they play in Japan at all? Or is at limited to a few ex pats?

I'm the "manager" of Nagano cricket club! We have perhaps five members, so its a bit of a non-event. However, across the mountains a bunch of ex-pats have formed a club and they've joined the all-Japan league this year. There are only two leagues and the standard is completely random. You've got awesome guys in with guys who can't even hold the bat the right way up. In general, my old club's first team (Bude, played in Cornwall League 3 back when I was home) could probably beat 90% of the teams out here. A couple of teams are all Japanese but most of them are boosted by ex-pats. There are a lot of Westerners out here but also a lot of Pakistanis. They have a national team in like ICC League 9 or something. The captain of our club bats No.4 for them. They go on random cricket tours to places like Papua New Guinea. In general though, we're held back by a lack of places to play and the weather can be a nightmare. June, for example, is rainy season so it dumps for a month, while September is typhoon season. Plus they don't have daylight saving so even in mid-summer it starts getting dark at 6.30 p.m., meaning you can't play much after work.

David Haynes That's really interesting! Ah yes, Bude. Been there on hols a few times as a lad. Still go to Cornwall with my lad every year although we tend to go down to the area around Cape Cornwall, it's stunning. In fact last year while we were down there we passed St Just cricket club on the way to the cove and accidentally spent the day there when a cricket match just happenned to have started. What are the chances of that happenning? (Quite high when you read about it in the local rag the day before, don't tell my wife, she still thinks it was just luck!)

In The Devil's Own Words In The Devil's Own Words by Tarian Green/Elizabeth Wixley
I love Cornwall. Nothing like throwing yourself into a rageing sea with a body board. Next to writing the sea must be one of my favorite things in life.

message 13: by David (new)

David Haynes Hi Chris, I'm already listed. Is it possible to remove my thread for The Swimmer and replace it with my new release Seance of the Souls by David Haynes please?
Thank you

Alan Toner | 12 comments Hi Chris. I would love to be added to the group. I am a published paranormal and horror Kindle book author.

David Watkins | 2 comments Hi Chris

Would you be able to add me to this group also? My book is The Original's Return The Original's Return and I will be releasing the follow up in the next couple of months. They will both be self published, which I hope isn't a problem but the first is getting good reviews on Amazon, (both here and across the pond) and Goodreads.

If this is inappropriate, then please delete!
