I've definitely cut down on tv since cutting cable. My problem now is that I do get a lot of free tv channels that are really good. A lot of them are PBS stations, but some aren't.

Ame | 1744 comments I am listening to Iggy Toma narrating Prickly By Nature. Honestly his voice always draws me in, he's a joy to listen to. Makes every story he narrates a better one.

On topics of read a loud stories. Here the technology was quite late developing. Through all of my childhood and teenage years we had only one radio and TV station and my fondest memories were of childrens and teenage stories being read out loud on the radio. There was always early in the morning that I could listen to while doing the chores. I have such nice memories of this and I sometimes wonder if kids are missing out with so much and advanced technology today. Are they missing out on little things like hearing Flambards read beautifully?

I usually watch about one hour per day with dinner. :-)

Now it's Midsomer Murders (with John Nettles) and Modern Family. The Midsomer episodes are pretty long, so they stretch over a couple of days.

Other than the Olympics, I haven't watched TV in what feels like weeks.

I did order THE NICE GUYS for eventual viewing from Amazon. PI bromance by Shane Black who does a lot of my favorite action movies.

The only surviving recording of Virginia Woolf's voice. It is part of a BBC radio broadcast from April 29th, 1937. The talk was called "Craftsmanship" and was part of a series entitled "Words Fail Me".
The audio is accompanied by a slideshow of photographs of Virginia Woolf

So THE NICE GUYS.

Disappointing actually. Not a bad film, but I feel like Shane Black was off his stride. It felt...sketchy. Maybe just a little too plot points by rote. Of course there were plenty of funny lines and you have to love Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling.

I've settled on (and signed for the next three books) Kale Williams. He's not yet known in M/M (I believe he did a couple of books for Tara Lain.) He has a huge backlist in mainstream so I'm confident the series will be in good hands.

I finally listened to Fair Play narrated by JF Harding. I really liked it! I liked his Elliot voice a lot -- in fact, I thought it was perfect -- and also his Tucker voice.

His Roland voice was a bit too quavery for me. Roland uses his voice a lot and it would remain quite strong accordingly, but other than that, I thought he did an excellent job.

I honestly prefer this narration to the first book. I hope they can get Harding for Fair Chance.

I had to adjust to JF Harding, because I have listened to Fair Game very often. I like his Elliot better as the first, like you, Tucker is okay, but Roland sounds to old for me. But I like really the whole reading, absolut the right pace!

Ame | 1744 comments I finished In the Middle of Somewhere and is one of the best audiobooks I've listened to this year. It's a well written story with an amazing inner monologue which the narrator portrays excellently. It's a long story and the author takes his time to build the relationship between the 2 MC's because even if there relationship starts early there are a lot of issues to deal with, much like in real life.

And I'm so happy I have credits because I'm dying for the second book in the series.

Audible is an Amazon company.

Josh, your Kindle has a "audiobook" page or heading. If you purchase anything from audible.com, the audiobooks appear in your library. These aren't on your device, unless you download them. They're showing what you have in archive/cloud.

I don't purchase audiobooks from other retailers, so I don't know if the recording you purchased would appear in your library.

Hope this makes sense. I'm not a techie, and I suck at explaining stuff like this.

If you still have questions or concerns, you can contact Audible 24/7 and speak or chat with a real person. Most of the time, I opt for a live chat, so I have a transcript of the conversation and can refer to it rather than pestering them again for the same info.

~I have an older Kindle; occasionally the darned thing freezes up and won't complete a download, leaving the whole system in limbo. With my written in small words I can understand instructions, I can generally fix it myself! YAY me!~

I think it is a convenience thing. You can download it from your archives to listen on your Kindle without having to go to your Audible account and sending it.

Thanks, Judy. I did accidentally on purpose delete a book out of my archive before I thought to go on line and see what was actually happening. Oops. :-D A little too hasty that time. If you delete something out of your archive, you delete it for good.

I still don't see the value or purpose of listing your archived items on your kindle, but whatever. Now I know to ignore it.

LOL!

Me too. In theory I know how to do it (press on the book icon and then press on ''remove from device''), but I've noticed that the books I've removed are still there.

I always think that If I die suddenly I don't want people to find shitty books on my Kindle, although I'm sure that then I won't be bothered with such earthly concerns ;-).

You go into your Amazon online account under manage devices and then you can remove stuff that way -- but it is a forever and permanent removal. If you change your mind, you have to rebuy the book.

I do have one file like that on my kindle that was permanently removed but still showed in my download list, which is kind of annoying.

Do you want to remove the book from your Kindle or delete it from your account (kind of throwing it away)?

If you have an older Kindle with actual keys you navigate to the book entry and then use the "to the right" part of the navigation button. It will open a new menu where you can decide to delete it from your device. It will stay in your account though so you download it again if you feel like reading it.

I you Calibre for cleaning up tge Kindle. It's easier to see what you're doing and you can batch delete.

Mostly what I would like to delete are all of the notifications I keep getting. I have things from Kindle about payments gone awry and now I've got messages that say the ebook I borrowed from the library has been returned. These are all things I don't need!

I don't have a kindle with keyboard. I think it's the generation right after that. All touch screen.
