I understand this completely. With so many books to read in the world, I don't have time for a bad book. I'm reading one right now that I'm less than happy with. I'm only sticking with it because it's a fast read and I'm going to finish it tonight and then move on to something better!

OMG. The Rifter in audio. YES. I've been wanting that in audio for years. *drools* Imagine the number of times I'd relisten to it if I could...

I wonder if Gomez Pugh would read it? Or who else we could get? Hmmm...

Oh good. I've got this on my Parents Challenge shelf for this year. I gifted a print copy to my Dad last Christmas. I've been meaning to read it myself and haven't done so yet. This year will be the year!

The book is awesome too! ;-) Adventures, and humor, and magic, and mystery, and a really cool MC with equally cool sidekicks. It's fun to discover a new author and then discover there's a whole series waiting, yay! Thank you, Calathea! :-)

I imagine it could be dragging a bit in print? I like his narration a lot. The book might be handy to have look up some things because the new words Huxley creates for the future setting or to check references.

I learned yesterday that everything somehow leads to Shakespeare eventually. ;)

Jordan, just in case you hadn't heard...book four (Summerwode) is written (squee!). No release date yet, but it's in edits now. And the author said at some stage that the publisher has committed to doing the whole series in audio, so hopefully we'll get more audio one day. Yay. :)

Well, BEB gave me permission to do this. The problem is it's a lean year financially so I've had to shelve the idea for now, but I too believe this would be a fantastic project -- take it a book at a time. The danger is it would not be fair to start and not finish, so to commit means committing to the whole huge thing. AND getting a narrator to commit as well, because you don't want to switch narrators mid-stream. Plus it will take a really top-notch narrator to handle all those voices and characters.

In other audio news -- not good news this time -- I've had to cancel the production for The Mermaid Murders. Chris was ill and his vocal chords need a good long rest. And given that his true passion is for his film work, I began to second-guess the idea of starting a series with a narrator who might not be available for the whole thing.

So we're back to square one on that one and looking for the right narrator to take on the series. I want a voice similar to Chris's -- that's how I hear Jason -- so we'll see.

I might be temporarily in the poor house, but seriously, how can I (we, all of us interested in this) help out? I'd love to ensure this project happens!

If you've been given the go-ahead, maybe we really can crowd-source it? Start a go-fund-me page?

I know, it's also a lot of work aside from just raising the money. Hopefully there will be time for that too!

I think you guys have maybe hit on something with the idea of crowd-sourcing. I want that series in audio so much. It's a natural. I'm going to mull it over and then maybe have a talk with BEB. If they crowdsource, they don't actually need me involved -- not that I wouldn't want my fingerprints all over that project, being the control freak that I am. :-D

Anyway, this is good stuff to think about.

Also since we're sitting here dreaming of books we'd like in audio, I'd love the Bellingham series in audio. For some reason I was thinking they WERE in audio and that I owned them. :-D Now that was wishful thinking because they aren't and I don't.

I have a question for you: why Boston is not popular location for fiction? Main is or was 5th most popular. And we have VT and even CT more than Boston? Boston or MA in general is first of many or most of everything in history or at least American culture.
