What we're listening to

It was not stormy at all. A bit of mist here and there but no rain. It held off until I got home after work. The dogs even got to go out half a day."
Excellent!

True.
I remember a time when I was in high school and I was reading a print book before class started. I laughed out loud at something in the book, and some of the other kids looked at me funny.
These days though, as long as I'm not laughing too loud, or bawling my eyes out, I do show emotions when listening to an audiobook. I just can't not do it. And it makes me feel better, like I can get into the book and the book's emotions more, like I can really be happy listening and smiling to myself at the same time. :-)

Morissette Amon covers "Against All Odds" (by Mariah Carey) on Wish 107.5 Bus

Oh, cool! :-) Love that book.

Till now I've bought (and never listened to) only Josh's and JC Price's books. I've suspected since a while that I should make an exception for Alexis as well...

OMG, you need to listen to them! They're sooooooo goooooood!!!!
Honestly, I stand by this weird fact: Gomez Pough's voice cures headaches and in general, just makes me feel better. I don't know why. I can't explain it. It just does. Plus, he's got Victor's voice down pat. I love having Vic's voice in my head!

Well, if you like his books, chances are good that you might like the audiobooks as well, right? ;) I've now listened to Glitterland and Waiting for the Flood and I thought they were both knockout brilliant audiobooks. The narrators are both stunningly good. Picked up Prosperity the other day, which I am so freaking excited to listen to. I also started out only buying Josh's audiobooks, then I branched out to JCP and Harper Fox, and now I can handle anything, audiobook-wise, anyway!

The healing powers of Gomez Pugh! I'll keep that in mind for the next time I have a headache. :) Yes, he definitely does the perfect Vic voice. That's how I felt listening to Waiting for the Flood--Alexander Doddy does the perfect Edwin voice. It's so satisfying when the voice fits the book so well.

Excellent! I bought the ebook, but haven't read it yet. When I saw it was available on Audible.com, I snagged it. Been wanting to read/listen, but RL keeps interfering.

I know, it's just that I should stop collecting audiobooks if I don't find the time to listen to them. Although for Josh's books it is a bit a matter of principle ;-).
Mind you, I loved Come Unto These Yellow Sands and the one third of Fatal Shadows I listened to. But I need time to listen, I can' t do it as I do something else. Probably for native speakers is different...

Thank you for the recommendation of the audio book, Alison. I just purchased it based on your post.

LOL! But I can't work if I listen to an audiobook! Maybe on the train.

Here is the link: http://www.audible.co.uk/pd/Sci-Fi-Fa...

- Storm Front narrated by James Marsters! (works well with exercising - a very nice incentive, and that voice!)
- Raising Steam narrated by Stephen Briggs (has the perfect cadence for just before falling asleep, by which i mean that it's not jarring in any way and it's cute and fun and light)
- How to Walk Like a Man narrated by Matthew Shaw (I think knitting or similar would work well here)
All set :-)

Now listening to For Real by Alexis Hall. Very different from the other one. :)

That usually happens to me when i listen to/reread Icecapade :-)
I loved Waiting for the Flood and just got the audio, so yay!

Different how? It is good, isn't it?

I've started listening to them as I swim. :-D Granted, that makes me a little self-conscious about my choices. I don't think the neighbors can hear, but I don't want to take the chance of some of these erotic moans and groans floating over the fence.

Yes! That is exactly the time to listen. It always seems like it will be too much trouble, but once the audio is playing, it's so relaxing.

((love))

Through his music, acclaimed Italian composer and pianist Ludovico Einaudi has added his voice to those of eight million people from across the world demanding protection for the Arctic. Einaudi performed one of his own compositions on a floating platform in the middle of the Ocean, against the backdrop of the Wahlenbergbreen glacier (in Svalbard, Norway).

Another friend will go to the concert in Rome ;-).

I love this piece of minimalistic music. I first heard it in the soundtrack of the Brazilian coming of age gay movie The Way He Looks.

Looking good, David. I haven't listened to that song in ages. Thanks. :)
Gounod's Roméo et Juliette. Santa Fe Opera (last night).
Listening, because the set was dominated by immense dark gray mausoleum walls "engraved" with the names of Capulet and Montague ancestors, which was used as a backdrop throughout all of the scene changes. Because that's profound. The costumes were supposed to be U.S. Civil War era, but I had to look that up today because it was driving me crazy since the dresses looked Victorian but not, and the men wore blue and red uniforms.
Beautiful singing though, and good company with a friend visiting from the Pac NW, and the venue is wonderful.
I kind of have a love-hate relationship with opera. ; )

I absolutely love it. It's one of my most favourite series, so I definitely think it's fantastic. :)
It's an epic historical fantasy with a central romance and there's a wonderful depth to not just the characters, but to everything. It's a big story with a lot of substance.

I know I've mentioned it a couple of times here. I listened to the audiobooks awhile ago and LOVED them. I can't wait for the next installment!
