Antonella | 11565 comments Catherine Dair just posted a delightful version of this song which her daughter played and sang two years ago, when she was 14, for Eric Arvin when he went into the hospital. It reminded me that it is a song I like. So here is the original version:

Oh, such lovely Christmas music listed here!

Here are the ones I've been listening to so far this year:

1. The Doris Day Christmas Album
2. Christmas with The Rat Pack
3. Winter Romance — Dean Martin
4. White Christmas — Bing Crosby
5. Joulu — Rajaton

Rajaton is a Finnish a cappella group and their Christmas album from 2003 is one of my very favorite Christmas albums. It's extremely soothing. Here's one of the songs: Tonttu (Elf in English)

And now I'm off to check out A Very She and Him Christmas! :-)

Holiday Traditions by Seattle Men's Chorus
Christmas goes Baroque by CSSR State Philharmonic Orchestra (1989 recording)
A Little Christmas Music by The King's Singers (1989)
Christmas by Mannhein Steamroller

Listening to MEMORIES OF THE HEART by Felice Stevens. Undecided as to what to listen to next. Have a shed-load of Josh's audiobooks but stressed out and can't handle anything nerve wracking. Suggestions?

I listened to it the other day. It's nice. Have you watched the accompanying music video trilogy? It's about two boys who are childhood best friends and have an amorous encounter when they're older and the aftermath. I haven't decided whether the ending is happy or sad. I always like it when music videos tell a story.

Here's part one:

And I do quite like Bad Religion's "Christmas Songs" album if I'm in the mood for something a bit noisier. :)

Fortunately they're now available on YouTube (and CD for the car).

How do the dogs react to audiobooks? Do you think they notice them, or care that something else has part of your attention?

I hope the unpacking is going well!

The dogs don't notice, since I wear earbuds with my iPod. Beau DID get tangled up in my earbuds yesterday when I took him for a walk. We had to extricate ourselves. It was a comedy of errors.

I seem to be on a teen pop kick lately-- also loving Shawn Mendes. His album Handwritten is really nice.

And how did I only just recently hear Macklemore's 'Downtown'? I love it.

Ame | 1744 comments Sorry for going on and on about the same book, this is probably my third post in a short time about Between Sinners and Saints, I swear I'm not getting paid to advertise (hey, there's an idea!).

However it's so funny how stories can appeal differently to people. I love this story, it's one of my favorite and I'm listening to it right now. I just read a review about it where someone said something like; be aware, this is not a love story! this is not an MM story, etc. And I couldn't help but smile because to me it's one of the most romantic love stories in the MM genre I've read!

Oh, well. It's good we don't all like the same thing, what a bore that would be.

It's a long time since I read it, but it did make an impression, a good one. And it is both m/m and romantic in addition to tackling some very serious issues in an insightful and compassionate manner. So, I really don't see where that reviewer is coming from. Maybe (s)he doesn't want anything but sex and love in their stories...

message 4491: by Mtsnow13 (new)

Mtsnow13 | 1115 comments I just thoroughly enjoyed two newly released audiobooks over the holiday break... Snowman by Isabelle Rowan and Bowl Full of Cherries by Raine O'Tierney.

I did have to double the listening speed for the Aussie narrator, as it was a bit slow for me, and there wasn't much variance between his character sound, but the story was a nice one.

As for the second story by Raine, the new narrator was an extreme pleasure to listen to! He did an excellent job emoting each person, and the story put a smile on my face..

Kirsten | 695 comments During my holiday travels I listened to JCP's second PsyCop story. I'm still kind of on the fence about these. Victor's life is so bleak seeming and it's a bit hard for me to get a handle on Jacob. He's just "the boyfriend" right now, without much characterization in my head.

I also listened to the first half of His for the Holidays. It's been some time since I read that, so it was nice to revisit. I'll have to listen to the second half sometime this week.

Jacob gets so much better as the series progresses, I promise.

I know... after the first episode I was cringing about the body wash in the shower... ouch! Hard to get that one out of my mind.

I love that story too. And it treats the differences in religion respectfully and doesn't use a Mormon upbringing as plot fodder, though it does play a strong part.
