I'm in a minority, I DNFfed that one.

My review says it was because I didn't care about the characters, but I honestly can't remember anything from it. :p "

I gave it 3 stars. I didn't appreciate it that much.

Anne | 6816 comments I'm currently listening to The Blazing World. Like her husband, Paul Auster, Siri Hustvedt is very brainy and I had to work a little to get into the book, but now she has me hooked. Still brainy and many of the references are way over my head, but she is a brilliant writer and storyteller.

So. A total of six more audio projects before the end of the year. :-) Not including the books put out by Carina/HarperCollins.

Winter Kill is going back to the drawing board, however, so it may ultimately be one of the last projects.

Antonella | 11565 comments I only buy audiobooks by Josh and JCP.

Did you all buy Channeling Morpheus for Scary Mary already?

If not, time to do it. I'm also talking to myself...

That's good news!

And it's also a good thing that Winter Kill is on its way back to the drawing board when you weren't satisfied with it. Thank you for always going the extra mile for your readers, Josh. You know we do notice it, and appreciate it, right?

Scary Mary was one of my least favorite JCP books, to be honest. I read it, and then read the sequel last summer just because she was the author, but they didn't do too much for me. So, I'm on the fence about the audio book. We'll see. Right now, I've got more than enough audio to keep me occupied. lol.

JCP says sales on Morpheus haven't been good enough to do the second box set on audio, which is a bummer. I enjoyed it and Gomez Pugh did well with it even though Wild Bills voice threw me off in the beginning.

I think the fact they were bundled and I didn't have to go through the serial release process helped me. And listening I think was better than reading

Sorry to hear this. The Channeling Morpheus books were the first JCP books I read. I loved their grit and wit, with just the right tiny touch of existential melancholy. Loved the audiobooks and bought the ebook boxed set, just because they were there in one place although I already own them in earlier individual editions.

Lily (lilygblunt) | 2 comments Currently listening to Beneath the Stain by Amy Lane. Recently listened to Promises by Marie Sexton - will definitely buy the rest of the series. I read them a while back and thoroughly enjoyed them. Also listened to L.A. Witt's The Given and the Taken and The Healing and the Dying. Fabulous threesome/vamp and wolf stories.

Ame | 1744 comments How is the narrator of Promises? Sometimes bad narrators can almost ruin wonderful stories. And sometimes good narrators go horrible wrong.

F. ex. I haven't wanted to buy Faith & Fidelity because the example on Audible is not good.

Judy Stone | 378 comments What's your favorite Josh Lanyon audiobook? I'm a MM Romance audiobook virgin and I have 2 Audible credits (thanks Josh!). Want to choose wisely and get the biggest bang for each credit. I have a lot of his books in print and eBook format, but not the entire collection yet. :-) Loved these e.g.: H&M, Come Unto These Yellow Sands, AE. Not keen on historical.

Please advise...I've got an entire weekend free!

message 3929: by Ame (new)

Ame | 1744 comments Adrien English is always no. 1 but I'm still going to recommend Holmes and Moriarity simply because Kevin R. Free is a delicious narrator. Oh, wait. So is Chris Patton. So.... just buy both ;)

If you don't have those in audio, I can wholeheartedly recommend all of them. As Ame said, AE is always a safe and an excellent choice, but (also) as Ame said H&M books are fantastic in audio. (Says a lady who loves Kit unconditionally — and Kevin R. Free as his voice.) :-)

Holmes and Moriarity,
Dangerous Grounds collection http://www.audible.com/pd/Fiction/Arm...
In Sunshine collection http://www.audible.com/pd/Fiction/In-...
I Spy collection http://www.audible.com/pd/Fiction/In-...

You get the most for your credits if you pick a collection, and the most diversity with In Sunshine :-)

Those you listed are great. I was SO pleasantly surprised by the 'In Sunshine' collection. I love the back and forth in 'Dangerous Ground', and I don't think you'll find a finer audio performance anywhere than the 'I Spy' collection.

I've newly found the pleasure of drawing during this summer. Nothing fancy, just simple lines forming simple everyday things.

For some reason I can't listen to audio books while drawing so I've been listening all kinds of music quite a bit. Today it's been Finnish singer Laura Närhi and her touching songs. I'll post links for two of them if you guys are interested in taking a peek.

Unfortunately she sings in Finnish, but the tone, the feeling of the music is so strong that I think you can easily imagine what the lyrics are about.

This one tells about letting go of someone you love. It's about slow, sorrowful, but inevitable departure. I love that cello in this one so much: Mä Annan Sut Pois by Laura Närhi

This one tells about feeling deep connection with someone — whether it's your little sister or lover or someone whose path crossed yours for just a little while. And how the distance or the years can't separate soulmates from each other. And how having someone like that, even briefly, joining your journey makes all the difference in life: Hetken Tie On Kevyt by Laura Närhi
