Criss Cross is even better than the first. I'm sad it's over.

Tried to get into Cards on the Table but I think I need a long break from Sean Crisden's voice. He's done a lot that I've been listening to lately.

So I jumped the mm ship and moved to YA. Listening to more of Croak, which I'm loving! Great story and perfect narrator for it!

Anne | 6816 comments I finished Criss Cross on Friday, now I have started the third about Whyborne and GriffinStormhaven.

I really hope the rest of the Psy-Cop series get turned into audiobooks. I have been thinking about re-reading the whole series, but listening is so fun. And I get to work on Christmas presents at the same time :)

Well, I'm sure I don't need to tell you that I obviously loved it. Borrowed the hardcover print edition from the library and ended up buying my own used copy on Amazon, I loved it so much. Can't wait to reread it!

Right! Yes. No wonder the voice wasn't coming to me. Doing the novellas was an impulse -- I liked his narration though. I do remember that much.

Susinok | 5205 comments I am listening to Social Skills by Sara Alva. It intrigued me when it came up on my Audiobooks recommended list, so I spent a credit on it.

I like it. Sort of coming of age/coming out story that takes place in college. (I suppose you'd call it New Adult, a term I don't like.) The book appears to be self-published. I'm impressed with the quality of the story and writing.

message 3071: by Idamus (new)

Idamus Fated It's OK, but not great, I like the narrator though, some guy named Gildart Jackson, he's quite good with the female voices

Becky Black (beckyblack) I think I'm going to end up going through the whole Henry Rios series in the audio books. It's nice for the whole series to be there and with the same narrator! I'm really loving it so far. The book itself is good - I'd think Josh fans would like the narrative style. And I am totally in love with this narrator's voice.

Anyway, the rest are on my Audible wish list to go through over the next few months.

I listened to all the audio books during our Henry Rios Mysteries challenge. I love the narrator's voice. Would be interested to hear how you think he develops over the several volumes.

So, I've checked. A Dance with Dragons has 49 hours. I can't even remember when I've started it.

Susinok | 5205 comments I am listening to Murder on the Orient Express by Dame Agatha. I just started this on the way to work this morning and it had me smiling the entire way. It's like slipping into a room filled with old friends.

I have not read or listened to any Christie in several years. I read them ALL when I was young. Teens or so, I think. It took me several years. :)

Here's a description of Poirot on the train platform, waiting to embark.

"He was so completely muffled and swaddled up that the only thing visible was the pink tip of his nose and two dark points of an upturned mustache."

This had me smiling so hard!

I think her style is very suited to audiobooks; her books move at the right pace, somehow. Miss Marple is my favourite, though. Poirot got better but he was a bit annoying sometimes!

Murder on the Orient Express is a good one!!

Yes her style seems perfectly suited to audio. The narrator is fantastic with the different accents and voices, too. So much fun!

The narrator is David Suchet and for some reason that particular recording is no longer available. But if you see that narrator, I heartily recommend him.

My #1 favorite Pratchett is Hogfather. I read that one first, and I still either re-read or re-listen to it each year. I love the books with DEATH and Death of Rats in it.

Second favorite series is the witches, then the guard, then the Wizards, and lastly Moist VonLipwig.

Yes, I've thought about this entirely too much...

Ame | 1744 comments I am actually trying to listen to music for once. My favorite musician had a new (old) album out yesterday and I've been listening to it. He's quite young, only 22 and his first album came out 2 years ago. This album now has his first album, plus English versions of the songs, plus new songs, plus various remixes. I am just in awe of his talent. Totally love this music.

Here he is only 20yo with my favorite song of his: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HH6WQ...

And he also got an English accoustic version on the album which is really beautiful but I must admit I prefer the Icelandic versions of his songs. Wouldn't this be perfect for the Haunted Heart series? ;) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94XQI...

And I also really love this one as well, the Icelandic version he wrote for the play "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time", I think it's absolutely beautiful, brings tears to my eyes every time I listen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BAHef...

I like everything with Vimes, Vetinari and/or von Lipwig. Death and Susan are cool, Rincewind too. Tiffay isn't exactly my favorite but she's okay and I still have several books left to read, esp the older ones.

Did you watch the films? What do you think?

message 3100: by Sabine (new)

Sabine | 3041 comments I am very fond of the Witches and Vimes and like von Lipwig.
I an not a fan of the movies. Fantasy is in my opinion a very difficult sujet to film. You need enough money and an eye for the right conversion of the fantasy elements. And I have an idea in my mind, about how the protagonists look like.
