Audible is weird o.O

You're right, ickickick. :-D
And they (audible.de) recommended the German translation... One would think that their alghorithm would notice that I haven't bought any German audiobook from them.

The Dark Farewell is one I haven't read yet, though it's waiting on my Kindle. I've done several of Josh's now where I've listened to the audio first, and some that I've only listened to the audio so far, though will read as well eventually.

Cool! You're pampering us with all these audio books — Thank you! :-)

Weird...

Me too! I love this song. There was a time, years ago, when i used to listen to it every day, one of these songs that somehow really goes together with one's state of mind. But i used to listen to this version (by Tuxedomoon):

I think if i listen to it now, i'd prefer the Nouvelle Vague version, which i didn't know about, so thank you for sharing it here. It's calmer, and it's beautiful. The Tuxedomoon one brings back memories and it's a bit harsher/darker somehow.

Well, sometimes we may need a little harsh and dark too. ; }

I like that one. Both versions are good. Thanks, guys. :)

We do. I was thinking of this the other day actually. Here's one of my favourite love ballads, So in Love by Cole Porter, but it's a bit dark at the heart of it.

Oh, Alison, I love seeing the international cycle of our friends tuning in and out throughout the day. It's early (Thursday) evening here in NM, and early afternoon (right?) in NZ.
First I found a "torchier" version of So In Love by K.D. Lang, then found this video version. Just listening to it is sensual/dark, but watching the video makes it heart aching. What music can do to us.

I love that. Soul is so good to dance to. I was actually going to post some soul today because I recently discovered a cool French soul singer--Ben L'Oncle Soul. Here are a few by him to get you all moving:
Hallelujah!!! (J'Ai Tant Besoin De Toi)

It is funny seeing who's around when. It makes you quite aware of time around the world. Yes, it's around two on Friday afternoon.
I hadn't heard that version before. I love it. I do so love her voice. So smooth. I quite like her album "Drag." In selfish moments I kind of wish she would sing a whole lot of jazz standards.

I like KD Lang's voice a lot. We saw her in concert last year and she was awesome! It was a bit funny/weird actually. At the beginning she was making these asides that assumed the audience was mostly lgbtq, but it really wasn't, and at some point she caught on and then just flirted with the ladies sort of thing. But that bit of awkwardness aside, when she starts singing, you just want her to go on forever.

Makes me smile. I feel like dancing. "
I discovered Solomon Burke when I read High Fidelity, and I never left him.
BTW we never danced during the holiday!

The Dark Farewell is a difficult story for some readers. They go on and on and ON about the ending. And I hadn't read the story since I read it, so I think this is one where the narration will really help.
And Max does such a wonderful job with all the accents -- I had forgotten just how many there were in this. Maybe he's originally from the Midwest? I don't know, but he really brings this story to life.

I personally prefer that kind of ending. (That goes for AE too. The ending of The Pirate King is one of the most romantic things ever.) Otherwise it would feel too much like one these epilogues that tend to spell out something that could have remained sweet and charming and with just a bit of mystery in it.

I wholeheartedly agree with KC. :-)
I wholeheartedly agree with KC. :-)

So do I. I feel Josh trusts us, the readers, to be able to figure out the rest by ourselves, to continue the story in our own heads. That is the best way and the most realistic too. After all, in real life there isn't one tidy ending, except The End. :)

Thanks! I've just had now time to listen to them. I like to come in contact with new music.
I especially liked ''Weekend'' by Priory.

Ooh, thanks :D

Just listened to this one, I liked it, but it had some sound issues so I missed a few bits here and there, it was very low :-(, I'll have a re-listen when I get it downloaded to my phone, the sound is much better on that

Wow! Thanks!
Wow! Thanks!
I'm sooo exhausted, I wish I could just listen to an audio book while I sit at my desk. It's been one of those days where nothing goes right too, so relaxing would be fantastic. If I could. *sigh*

Yay, it's so good

Thank you! It works for everybody!

Now you have something to look forward to. You will really enjoy it when you get the chance to relax.

Yes, I'm looking forward to knitting the scarf for my friend while listening to this!
Plus, this is the month I get to listen to The Odyssey read by Ian McKellen. Squeee! I'm hoping with that one, I can just listen without needing to read along, but I don't know. All those names get confusing after a bit. lol.

And speaking of (more than) a little dark. Hearing this story read aloud is really something. It gave me shivers. I didn't pay as much attention to the historical research involved on my first read(s). It's impressive, thought-provoking, never simplistic. Special thanks for the David/Julian Christmas coda, although you didn't exactly take the easy way out with that either. It's appreciated.

Oh cool! It worked! :) Just got three off of my wishlist.

My, things download fast at 5 a.m. when I'm probably the only person in the street using the broadband. ;-)

Oh, but I loved it. Somehow, dark was right considering the people and the time.
I'm listening to Diana Copland again while I knit a scarf for my friend, in an effort to knit more and knit faster. I just love Kiernan's humor. And his hilarious tshirts.

Which Diana Copeland? I have one of hers in ebook.
A Reason to Believe. But I did catch one cop error in it this morning that every writer and tv show makes. Matt's boss threatens to take away both his badge and his gun. Badge yes. Gun no. Lol. But really, that's minor. I love this story so much. The characters are just fantastic and so is the story.

Explain the error for us UK people, please? (Our cops don't have guns.)

I'm losing count of how often I've listened to the series. So good!
