What we're listening to

Well, that's promising right there.

One of my friends who's opinion I trust has said that the latest Mary Calmes, as she puts it, doesn't suck. It does not have as many of her Calmes themes. No twinks in this one. She gave it four stars for being entertaining. Both MCs are in some version of law enforcement.
I have the book but have not read it yet.

Well, I am weak. ;-) I just bought All Kinds of Tied Down. I also bought Hell & High Water, the first in a new urban fantasy law enforcement series by Charlie Cochet. Sounds exciting and I've seen some great reviews for it.
I started the new Mary Calmes book. It is very Gay for only you. I find those tough unless the writing is very good. Hmmmm, I haven't gone back to it yet. ;D

Lots of rejoicing that we'll soon have another Josh audiobook! I love it that the SO burst out laughing while listening; what an endorsement!

I'd love to have watched your face while you were walking home experiencing all those different feelings while you listened to your book.
Josh wrote: "I'm about to start reading Blade of the Samurai by Susan Spann. "It looks like this is part two of a series. Have you read part one or can it be read as a stand-alone?
Sounds interesting. It goes on the list.
HJ, I'm finding that when I'm home alone I just talk to myself to emote over a book. You know "OMG, I don't know about this..." Kinda thing.
But on the street, yeah, it all comes out via facial expressions. I bet it would be hilarious to watch.

I'm once again Eve Dallas fangirling with Concealed in Death by JD Robb. It once again blows me away how consistent this series is for a long as it is.Forget Roarke, I want Eve in my corner! :)
And I'm happy to hear that the narrator turned in the audio for Dirty Deeds, book 4 in the Cole McGinnis series by Rhys Ford. So not very much longer! He still has to edit, but still...

Charlie Cochet's Hell & High Water sounds like it could be fun. I read a couple of her books (The Amethyst Cat Caper and Mending Noel) and enjoyed them - light with heart and humor, is how i remember them.

Love it. I grew up listening to Weird Al in the eighties, and I have such a fondness for his music. It's so clever. I'm such a nerd that I saw him in concert a few years ago. :)

SQUEEEEEE!!!!
For those who don't get JCP's monthly newsletter, she just announced that Psycop is going into audio and that the narrator knocks Vic's voice out of the park, as well as Jacob's and Lisa's. *fans face* I think I might faint from the news.
And thanks to Idamus who alerted me to this on Twitter this morning, which made me go check my email. :-)

It looks like I might make an exception to my rule ''audiobooks only from Josh''.
I've just seen a movie from 1988 I had always heard about:Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown (Mujeres al borde de un ataque de nervios)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Women_on...
It was fun! And I found out that the title was translated a bit wrongly into English (and into German, I think: Nervenzusammenbruch), because ''un ataque de nervios'' is not a nervous breakdown, but it's a momentarily breakdown.

I love Almodovar films. This one has a very young Antonio Banderas. I love his actresses too.

Still listening to Aleksandr's audio book, and I have to say, it just keeps getting better and better the more I listen to it!

Ha ha! My poorly written sentence. I meant that I love the actresses Almodovar has in his films. Although I think he does have an actress in Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down. : )

I'm listening to Charlotte MacLeod's The Palace Guard. I have reading most of her books over the last twenty years. Now many of her books are available on audible.de, and I think it is good entertaining. https://www.goodreads.com/series/4349...
The Balaclava-series is enjoyable too.

Right now I'm wishing Wilfred's biography was in audio. I'm really enjoying it, just not the amount of time it's taking me to read it. I wish I could knit while I listen to it. But, alas, it's not in audio.
Lou wrote: "I finally finished listening to Lord John and the Brotherhood of the Blade. Diana Gabaldon's prose flows and the narrator is superb."I stumbled across Lord John a few years ago and have read all the stories published about him. I find that his character varies from story to story, which is strange. I suspect that might be because hundreds of thousands of words have been written in the main series in between each little story about him! (I'm not attracted by Outlander as a whole, just Lord John.)
I gave up on the Highlander books halfway through book 4. I just lost the thread of the story and lost interest.Isn't Lord John the one that kidnapped and raped Jaimie multiple times in the first book? Poor Claire had to save him many times! That series is so over the top m/f romance, hehe.
Susinok wrote: "Isn't Lord John the one that kidnapped and raped Jaimie multiple times in the first book? Poor Claire had to save him many times! ..."I was so shocked by this suggestion that I had to do a bit of Googling (I've never read Outlander). I think it was Captain Jack Randall you're thinking of. From what I can gather, Lord John yearned for Jamie (I think Jamie was a prisoner as a Scottish rebel, and Lord John was one of his captors).
And Lord John isn't in the first book. He doesn't appear until the second one, where he's a mere kid of 16 years old anyway.
Becky wrote: "And Lord John isn't in the first book. He doesn't appear until the second one, where he's a mere kid of 16 years old anyway."Ok. Got them mixed up. Whew. Poor Jaimie caused many a masculine heart to flutter didnt' he?
I never made it through the first Outlander. Everyone always raves about the audio book but it was not my thing at all, so I always thought I'd hate the Lord John series. I might have to check out the audio now. :-)
Lou wrote: "Lord John is a lovely lad, not the raping kind." That's why I was shocked! Although every now and then he isn't very nice, which is partly what I meant when I said his character varies from story to story. I really ought to re-read before I go into any detail, but it's almost as though every now and then the author remembers he's a soldier and that he ought to be a bit tough to prove it.
So I seem to be listening to Adrien again, Just finished Fatal Shadows and started straight in on A Dangerous Thing, which I think is still my favourite of the audio performances in that series.Did I mention I wrote a blog post about me and audiobooks, and how much Josh's books are responsible for my most recent love affair with the audios?

I agree with both things. a) A Dangerous Thing is my favorite of the AE in audio. b) Josh is totally responsible for my new found love of audio books. :-)
And that's an awesome blog post. You hit the nail on the head with all those points.
The other day, I wasn't feeling well at all but I had to get a huge pile of dishes done, and the only thing that kept me standing and washing was an audio book.
