What we're listening to

I totally agree on both counts.

Yes, and Paola as well.
We were on this - still active - internet forum, http://www.davecullen.com/forum/ together with other people also following Josh, maybe more on FB: Monica, Sara, Linda, Neil, Catia...

That's really cool. So did someone from the group discover Josh's work and spread the love? :)

Jordan, I bought the CD in a charity shop! I've just checked and it is on Audible UK. It only lasts just over an hour.

Yes, mainly Eve and Liade (I forgot her in my precedent list!), I'd say, and they had to work hard to win me, because I didn't read mysteries ;-).

I just checked: I bought all the four then existing AE books in November 2008!

Well, most Brokies have good taste :-P

I'm definitely finding that. I've listened to lots of mine a couple of times and some several times. Others I'm sure I'll listen to again in the future.
It's probably due to having only a few dozen of them, and that I don't tend to buy them long before I listen to them unless they're in some kind of special offer. So I don't have a big to listen stack.
Meanwhile with paper and ebooks I've got a couple of thousand ebooks and paper books to choose from to reread, and plenty of unread ones to get to. Also my time to sit down and read is more limited than the potential time I could use for listening to an audiobook, which I can do while walking aroud, or washing dishes, or whatever.

I've listened to Ghost Wore Yellow Socks twice. I know I'll read the Adrien/Jake series and the Will/Taylor and the JX/Kit series again and again.
But I have so many un-listened-to books on my iPod that I normally just move on to the next one.
I know I'll re-listen to Ethan, Who Loved Carter.
I would love Muscling Through in audio, plus some Harper Fox books.

I do occasionally re-listen to my favorite David Sedaris stories when I need a laugh. :)

I was able to get the following authors: Michael Nava
Lynn Flewelling
Richard K. Morgan
Kim Knox
J Tullos Hennig
Dorien Grey

If I count by books then mine is the same, but I have as many collections as possible, I have all of Abi Roux' books too though and a lot of Michael Connelly's books, for some reason I prefer his Mickey Haller as audio and his Harry Bosch as ebooks
Yes, I've relistened to a few audios more than rereading a print book. It has to do with several things. a) The time I use to listen to books is different than reading print. As stated, I can do dishes, or walk home from work while I listen. b) Sometimes I'm really craving something and it seems easier to grab the audio for a comfort read, especially when not only is the book fantastic for that, but the narrator is too. (CUTYS is this for me) c) sometimes I just want to relisten to something cause I loved the story (A Dangerous Thing is this one for me). d) It seems like it takes less time to listen to an audio book. There is a set time it will take, and even if I pause to think about something, the story goes on, at a set pace.
So, right now, my most listened to audios are CUTYS, ADT, and ISOIS. Yep, they're all Josh's. As of yet, I have not relistened to other authors, but Diana Copland's A Reason To Believe will be another one I'll relisten to a lot in the future. I've already been getting the urges. lol.

I love those as well, I bought them late last year and have already listened to both 3-4 times :D
Becky wrote: "Audiobook fans, do you find you re-listen to audiobooks more often than you reread paper/ebooks?"
Hmm. The only audiobooks I've re-listened to are Josh's. I also re-read his books (e-format and print) by far the most. Other authors I re-read these days are Jordan Castillo Price, Aleksandr Voinov and Harper Fox. And the authors I probably will be re-reading a lot in the near future are Joseph Hansen and Mary Renault.
For example yesterday evening I needed some cheering up and was seriously yearning for the best possible comfort read, so I read parts from A Dangerous Thing, Death of a Pirate King and All She Wrote. A dose that never fails. If the situation would have been more serious, I would have definitely added Somebody Killed His Editor, The Dark Tide, Come Unto These Yellow Sands and The Dickens With Love into it. Those all work in an emergency like a charm. :-)
And what I ended up thinking last night was, yet again, how brilliant both Adrien English series and Holmes & Moriarity series are. Like so many of you, I'm hopelessly in love with Adrien's and Kit's highly sarcastic, wry sense of humor and their unbeatable logic. And I'm so happy Josh is taking his time to write The Boy with the Painful Tattoo because I wouldn't be at all surprised if the Holmes & Moriarity series would become as stellar success in the future as AE series is.

I re-read and re-listen Josh's books as far as they have audio versions. Some more than the otheres but Kit and Adrien are on top of that list.
I can't seem to stop listening to LB Gregg's Men of Smithfield series. I love what the narrator does and they are short enough so that I don't have to keep too much in minde when listening to them in bits and pieces on my drive to work and back. I think that I listened to each of them at least five times. Curiously, I never re-read them.

Yes, I LOVE rereading JCP's Psycop series a lot, especially the short stories/scenes and that one really sweet scene in GhosTV.
And Aleksandr Voinov is another favorite to reread.

Go poke Jordan here https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... maybe if she gets enough pokes it will happen

I asked KJ Charles about that on Twitter the other day actually. I'd definitely love them in audio too. Samhain have the audio rights, so we can only keep our fingers crossed. :D

Oooh, I wrote and asked them about audios last year, never got a reply, maybe I should try again, I want the Bay City Paranormal series by Ally Blue

Sinner's gin is also something I listen to again and again. I really like it.
I do my share of comfort re-reading, especially of Josh's books. (My comfort-read list is similar to Johanna's.) I also re-read for group reads (re-reading JPC's Channeling Morpheus series now) and BOM reads. I haven't got into much re-listening because I still have a big TBL pile, but of course Josh's books are re-listens. The Aaronovitch urban fantasy series is on my listen-again short list. I love the narrator's voice.
I need to make more opportunities to listen to books. My "commute" (ten minutes) isn't long enough. I guess I need to take my iPod on more walks. ; )
Oh, and Audible needs a bookmarking/highlighting app! : )

You can bookmark in the iPhone app. Should be the same in the Android app.
If you guys want to hear Stranger on the Shore in audio, I suspect you will need to contact Audible.com and make your feelings known. It looks to me like they have no plans to put it into audio right now.
Not sure who you would contact, but you could start here perhaps...nicoleop@audible.com

Is this not something you decide?

Thank you for letting us know, Josh. We'll be sure to let them know that we'd love to have SotS in audio.

I'd love to have SotS in audio, with the right narrator. Am I understanding this to mean that it's not Carina who decides to produce an audio for a book they've published, it's Audible? And who picks the narrator?

These are my questions, too.

Carina has an agreement with Audible. Audible chooses the titles they decide to produce -- and my understanding is they are choosing to produce fewer titles. Audible has complete control of the process.
Now my titles all do very well, so it wouldn't be a concern over earning out, but I have been pretty outspoken about some of Audible's practices, and I don't think it's made me terribly popular in some quarters. :-)
I'd have been happy to produce the book myself, but my other titles have gone to audio, so I didn't negotiate to keep those rights. Same deal with Fair Play.
My dumb.

I hadn't planned on getting the audio too, but I'll be happy to poke them anyway
Should I poke them about Fair Play as well? That one I do have on both my ebook and audio wishlist

I honestly don't know. Fair Play might have a better shot given that they've already done the first one and will have a sales record.
I am suddenly struggling with lack of control. I was fine with this process for most of the SotS experience.
But I lost serious faith over the pricing of the M/M box set. And now this.

What Your Favorite Band in High School Says About You
This is SO me. ;-)
Nirvana: You’re a true introvert and have some loner tendencies. You’re perfectly fine spending time by yourself, and you prefer the company of a good book over a crowded party. You don’t consider yourself a pessimist per se, but rather call yourself a “realist.”
