Becky Black (beckyblack) I'm nearly at the end of listening to the In Sunshine or In Shadow collection. I've been loving it. Some of the stories I know, some are new to me. And it's just a feast! :D I'm sure it's one I'll revisit often, probably more so than the novels.

And I also just bought audio of Kick Start, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy(my all time favourite book!) and The Thin Man. So lots to keep my player busy for a while.

Susinok | 5205 comments Oh wow, I never really thought about Hitchhiker's Guide in Audio. Must check it out. Those books were favorites as a kid. I soooo looked forward to each new one.

message 1403: by Becky (last edited Jan 26, 2014 10:31AM) (new)

Becky Black (beckyblack) Audible have it narrated by Stephen Fry. I'm a bit bored with Stephen Fry's shtick generally, but he does do good readings.

THHGTTG I can read watch and listen to in all its forms. :D The radio show, the books, the old TV show, the movie and now audiobook. Yay!

message 1404: by HJ (new)

HJ | 3603 comments I first came across The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy as a BBC Radio programme, extremely well done. This might be more fun than listening to it being read, in this instance. Here it is in Audible: "first broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in 1978 and recently voted the Nation's Favourite Audiobook in a Guardian poll."

message 1405: by Becky (new)

Becky Black (beckyblack) I picked up a CD box set of all of the radio series - including the recent adaptations of the later books, for a fiver last year. Result!

The book will always be my favourite version, since it's the first time I encountered it. But I love that all the different versions are, well, different. Tell us different stories about the characters we love. Actually, now I think about it, a bit like Josh does in Stranger Things Have Happened! :D

message 1406: by HJ (new)

HJ | 3603 comments I've had an alert from Audible that they've introduced a new feature for their most popular series, called Series View. This adds a link to the description of each book which is part of a series so that you can go to a page with all the audiobooks in that series shown together.

I don't know how this is achieved, but if the author/publisher can organise it I think it would be a good thing to do, Josh!

I just get names of authors, books in orfer and narrator, but it's nice enough to have them sorted, if an authos has many books, I guess

I've been listening to CUTYS lately when I needed to destress and I left off last night right when Max comes into Swift's home to search for drugs. OMG. This is the start of my favorite section of the story, so I kinda can't wait to walk home and listen to more of the story!

:-D

Yeah, it killed me to have to put down the book when I got home last night at that point in the story.

I'm also really tired all of a sudden, so it'll be nice to have someone read to me in half an hour! Too bad I have to walk and can't just sit and veg out. lol.

It's narrated by Kate Reading, and I have a few other books by her. She'll be very good. Can't wait to get home and download it. I have a crochet baby blanket to finish and a cold/possibly snowy weekend coming up. It's perfect timing!

Annoyingly the other LC books in that series aren't on, but I agree that this is a win!

Yep. It is her most popular, I think, though she's written many books. Hopefully more will come out. I love her four brothers series as well. Lord Perfect, etc.

Susinok | 5205 comments For fans of Shelly Laurenston's Pride shifter series, they are being released on audiobook as well. The Mane Squeeze and Beast Behaving Badly are two favorites and frequent re-reads. Total over the top silliness.

Mane Squeeze actually sounds interesting. I'm just not a fan of het romance, mostly for the sex scenes. Too many or too descriptive and it seems too over the top for me. Otherwise I might give this a try at some point.

They are comfort and humor re-reads of mine. I love the series, because it's so silly. The scenes are not overly long and again, not very serious.

Sylvia | 350 comments Not free but a good audio daily deal for $1.95: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, #1) by Douglas Adams http://www.audible.com/pd/Sci-Fi-Fant...

This one was mentioned before here.

A Special Edition of the original radio series The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, first broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in 1978 and recently voted the Nation's Favourite Audiobook in a Guardian poll. Starring Peter Jones, Simon Jones, Geoffrey McGivern, Mark Wing-Davey, Susan Sheridan and Stephen Moore, these six episodes (Fit the First to Fit the Sixth) have been remastered to modern-day standards by Dirk Maggs, and for the first time feature Philip Pope's arrangement of the familiar theme tune, with newly recorded announcements by John Marsh.
Also included on this Special Edition is Douglas Adams's Guide to the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, first broadcast in 1999, which looks at the genesis and phenomenal success of the series.

Loretta Chase is a favorite author of mine. She is very witty, which is something I really love about her writing.

Many of her other books are wonderful. I especially like Lord Perfect and the other three Carsington brothers books in the series.

But Lord of Scoundrels is my #1 favorite historical romance.

Thanks, Antonella - wonderful dancing! I'd just watched a video with the soundtrack of Hugh Laurie singing 47 Ginger-Headed Sailors, so with the combination of the two I'm feeling very cheerful now.
