No. This is also truth LOL
I can't help myself any time I get into a friend's car that has leathah seats.

Apparently so. Apparently they couldn't think of any more reasons to delay. :-D

In the Christmas spirits I have been listening to His for the Holidays and I hate to complain when people have put all this work into it but McBride's voice in the Harper Fox story is killing me. And killing the story for me. I find it just over the top and this comes from a person who loves/loved Taggart (TV show from Scotland). I'm thinking this is probably a good story but that narrator is not doing it for me.

As I recall Harper couldn't even bear to listen.
I know with the narration of Lone Star, I was wishing the narrator had used Web's father's voice for Web (I think that was the one). This is what's so hard about not having any control when someone else pays for the audio book. It's torture having to listen to the wrong voice or a mispronunciation.
I will not start ranting about No-elle for Noel again, but...A PAIN THAT WILL NEVER HEAL. ;-)

Do you have an Icelandic YouTube Christmas songs to share?

Well I am "glad" I'm not the only one.... if she didn't like it herself than I'm not gonna beat myself up to hard.

Nope. I'm a Trekkie. When I think of him I hear him saying "To the last, I will grapple with thee... from Hell's heart, I stab at thee! For hate's sake, I spit my last breath at thee!" after he activates the Genesis Device. :D

W00t! I've got it now. You'd think with all the Josh titles in my library that Audible would have put that one in my recommendations as soon as it went up, but no, that would be too obvious.

I'm so glad you said that. When I read "Ricardo Montalban" I just thought "wasn't that Khan from Star Trek II?" =D

No you were not the only one, I have that one as well and well, yeah, it's not my favorite audiobook to listen too.

The geek in me hears him say "Revenge is a dish best served cold."

Gosh.... you have NO idea... what you just bought on yourself Josh... I'll go completely overboard since I love so many Christmas songs....;)
I must admit though I am quite traditional and even folksy in my song selection... maybe the influence of being raised by my grandparents and greatgrandparents.
Anyway... on of my most favorite Christmas album is from 1971 (my birth year!) from a wonderful folk band. When I was a kid this one was played again and again.
We have kind of a lot of folk lore and superstition about Christmas and New years. A lot to do with elves and trolls and our Yule lads that used to be trolls and were a total menace used to scare children in to behaving not to mention their mother who ate badly behaving children and the Christmas Cat that did that to the children that did not get any new clothing for Christmas. So there were all these rules for Christmas... behave, eat well, and give clothes to the children, workers and the poor people.
Anyway that's kind of what those songs are about, the first one that children should be given food and clothes and the second one is about the mother of the Yule Lads called Grýla.

The third one is actually more of a New Years song even though it happens during Christmas night when the elves come out and dance in the moonlight... and no one should interrupt their partying otherwise bad things will happen to you....;)

Also Björk (the Björk if you know of her) sang fantastic Christmas song about the Christmas Cat

Geek alert! Let that flag fly high!

But these three are my absolute favorite Christmas songs right now....

Changed my mind. Started to listen to DOAPK today while balling yarn and then doing some knitting. So far the second book has been my favorite, but now there's a rival in town. I love Jake here. He's showing just how much he cares for Adrien without putting it into exact words and poor Adrien is blind to it all.
Also, I agree with the earlier comment about Guy's use of the word lover as an endearment. I'm not a fan.

They didn't!
Thinking about it, we should be grateful for that audiobook. I suspect it was that bad experience which prompted you to keep control of your audiobooks and take such care in selecting narrators and monitoring their work, so that we now have superb versions worthy of your writing!!

I was just thinking yesterday that his telling Adrien to eat something, because "you look like a goddamn skeleton" is his way of saying he cares and is worried. :D
That's exactly the scene I was thinking of! It totally made me smile. I love being alone while listening. I found myself talking to Adrien explaining things to him that he wasn't understanding. Lol. Too bad he couldn't listen in and take notes.
So I only have 385 ebooks on my kindle plus 12 audible books. Yet when i went to download A&D, it tells me I'm out of memory! Just how is this possible? I've no idea. There isn't much I'd be willing to delete to make room either. It makes no sense. Grrrr.

This was my favorite book before the audios and after hearing it... it might actually be my favorite audio book ever. Chris as Jake is just so perfect and I want him to narrate my husband for just one date night..... LOL

When I was starting to get interested in audiobooks someone made me notice that they take an awful amount of room on the Kindle.

Yes, exactly. You have "only" 3 GB of free memory. With ebooks alone I don't even get to the half way mark but audio books are BIG. ;-)

If you're getting hooked on audiobooks (and how can you resist, with Josh's books leading the way) this problem will only get worse for you! I bought a second-hand iPod Touch dedicated to my audiobooks which I can use in the car, and take everywhere. It's perfect for Audible audiobooks (if you get a 3rd generation iPod Touch or later) because you can download the app and then it's childs-play to download the books and listen to them, and keep them organised. I still buy on my laptop but I do everything else on my iPod, downloading over wifi.
Obviously it depends on which one you have as to how many books you can put on it, but one fan of audiobooks says:
8 gig 30-40 audiobooks, fills 75% of device
16 gig 50 audiobooks, fills 50% of device
32 gig 100 audiobooks, fills < 50% of device

Well, that's interesting to know.

A 4 minutes coming out video:

Here are two music videos I wanted to share with you guys. This is nothing Christmassy, cheerful or fancy, so I'm bit off the track here, but I took my 8th graders to a music video show today and these two songs and especially the videos stayed with me afterwards and left me thinking all kinds of thoughts — and that's always a good sign. :-) We saw a dozen extremely low budged (no budget at all?) music videos, all done with some kind of animation technique (3D, Lego, pixilation, doll, etc.) and all made in Finland, mostly in the city where I live in. Also all the bands are Finnish.
I think I especially liked these two because both songs and videos tell a powerful story together. The way they were both done is very simple, but clever and powerful. I also like the frank feel of them. The first one is a (hand-)drawn animation. The lyrics are in Finnish (sorry), but here is what they say:
I can't stand myself sober,
I can't stand the shame that waits outside
and the loneliness as a friend.
I pour absinthe into my tea
now when I have all the time in the world,
all the time in the world.
All the time in the world.
Absinttia (Absinthe) by Iiwanajulma directed by Henrik Mennander
And then the not-so-gloomy-one... ;-) The second one is a stop motion animation made with photographs — the way they have used the photos is very cool, IMO! I also liked how they used surface of the table, glasses and other things. I really, really liked this song, too.
Motion by Bel Vel directed by Leevi Lehtinen

Thanks! That's actually the information I was looking for last night. I was thinking of getting another Sansa Fuze mp3 player, but then this morning realized that was dumb cause I wanted to use the app. Now, I'm looking at getting a used iPhone 4 with 32GB for $150.00. That's about $100 more than I was planning to spend though, but I do want something dedicated to audio books as you said.
I don't want to wait too long for this phone though. Then I'll need to buy another case for it. Hmmm...
I've never had an ipod, so I don't know yet if they're cheaper or easier to use.

I just bought a new iphone with 32gb to act as my audio book holder. Woot. Super cheap for an iphone 4 too. yay.

The chap who wrote the article I linked said: get an iPhone over an iPod, I think mainly because the sound quality is better. It's worth reading the article to see the pros and cons. A lot of audiobook users swear by Sansa Clips (?) but for me the advantage of being able to use the Audible app is a major factor.
Edit - and now I've seen your later post! Woot, indeed. Enjoy!!

Yeah, I was going to get the Clip, but the app was a major factor for me as well. I might still get the Clip for my music though, as my five year old Fuze is just getting old and cranky.
So the "new" phone is in limbo. I have no money with which to buy said phone. Amazon said not to worry, they'd try again. Hopefully there will be dough again before they try. But it's not easy to find a phone at the price I did. The first one was snatched up before I could grab it. And most cheap used phones are broken in some way, usually the screen is cracked, I found or there is no charger with it. And it just doesn't make much sense to buy that and then pay to get it fixed.
So we'll see what progresses though. Good to know the sound quality is better though!

Audible.com is having what appears to be an almost site-wide sale of 25% off. All my titles are discounted. So I would say if you were thinking of buying something, jump now. But I would pay for the item and not waste a credit because books like Armed and Dangerous are down to about $13.00 if you're a member!

What's next Josh? Kick Start?

Only if you tell him....;)
I'll have to lock myself up if I buy more books! That new-to-me phone was cheap for a smart phone, but still not that cheap. I think that just became my xmas present to myself. That, and the case I now have to buy for it.
