In Mark's defense, he recognizes that about himself and he does want -- and tries -- to do better. In all honesty, most people never see their own faults and even if they do, they rarely try to fix them. :-)

I normally catch the crud in early spring/late winter. February or March I'll be laid low for a few days.

...the 92Y recorded the vast majority of those performances. And now 1,000 recordings appear on a new site http://92yondemand.org. It’s a fantastic archive of audio and video files, searchable by topic, year or performer name.
For ex. Lou Reed Rewrites Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Raven.” or Kurt Vonnegut’s First Public Reading from Breakfast of Champions (1970), that is three years before the book would be published.
I put this link here because the stress is on listening, even though some recordings are with images.

I think GRL want your antibodies for a vaccine for next year's conference - you must be about the only person who wasn't ill either there or immediately afterwards!

I'm still surprised I got through it without. The authors are a really huggy bunch! Not that I'm complaining. :)

I am sure you can guess what story I'm listening to.... thank you Chris for disliking Guy as much as me.

If I answer for me... then I don't really have a real answer... he just rubbed me the wrong way when I read the books. I found him condescending and despite his possessive attitude towards Adrien and jealousy against Jake or his love declarations, he didn't really let go of his own past. I think he liked the idea of Adrien much more than Adrien himself. Or maybe he just liked to have a boytoy on the side... someone who idolized him... I don't know... I just really didn't like him.
And Chris just narrates him so, so perfectly!
That word.... lovah........ I disliked it very much while reading the books.... pretencious as hell..... and the way Guy/Chris says it on the audio.... is perfect.... and I makes me seriously dislike the term of endearment.... even more than when I read the book.

And I don't like Lover as a term of endearment.

Well, to be honest the same goes for Adrien. He is somebody with whom he is comfortable but not really more - at least that's the impression I got. He was there to get somewhat over Jake and he was there so he wasn't alone too (at least I think that from time to time Adrien fears to be alone again). Their relationship startet wrong in a certain way. And both aren't really fighting for each other - they don't even try really, although Guy startet halfhearted attempts.
I don't know, I don't really like Guy, but I don't dislike him either. That was the relationship between those two I find rather awkward.

And I don't like Lover as a term of endearment."
LOL.... this....;)

Yeah but he cheats on him just several days (weeks?) after Jake is in his life again.
Although, the whole cheating thing was really something which unsettles me.
First Jake cheats on Kate - and on Adrien (hm... is it cheating if he knows it, don't like it, but do nothing against it?), then Jake again on Kate, Guy on Adrien, Adrien on Guy (and again Jake on Kate). I really thought "What the hell is wrong with the gay guys in this world?", lol. But that's because I distaste cheating. My family record in this matter is enormous.

Is that not correct? I have to go look up my Kindle.

Nope, the - I wouldn't really call it break, but somehow it is yes... It was after Adrien slept with Jake. Or we interpret things differently and you mean another scene.

Adrien and Gut talk and among other things Guy says: "Maybe we both need some time. " And Adrien says yes. Then they say goodbye:
He said, "I'll call you.
"I'll be here, I said.
And then he smiled as though we both knew that wasn't true.
I've always interpret this as a break up.... the "we were on a break because we need to think things over" so to me Adrien never cheated. I guess I'm the only one.

I'm not saying Guy is not to blame - I found that very stupid too that he defends Peter who was trying to kill Adrien (and believes him more than his partner). But Adrien is not only a victim here.

Yeah well, they are talking after he slept with Jake about their relationship etc. So it did seemed to me that they are still on it (Adrien tells him he slept with Jake after Guy "confessed" to sleep with Peter while with Adrien. So it seemd like a "hey I did the same as you, how does it feel? Sucks? Great!").

I think as the writer -- and obviously taking Adrien's POV -- the fact Guy kept in contact with Peter (and wasn't honest about it) is the real end of the relationship. Not that Guy didn't have mostly good intentions, but they were lovers before and that is quite a betrayal, knowing Adrien's feelings.

Yes, I think Adrien did largely get involved with Guy because it seemed like the sane and sensible thing to do. He had been through one dysfunctional relationship and I think he believes he should try to invest his feelings with someone more stable and normal seeming.
The lesson perhaps being that maybe there really isn't a single brand of "normal." Normal can be relative. In the end, Jake -- who looks like a pretty bad relationship risk -- is the guy most likely to stand by him through thick or thin.

But in who's universe does Guy seem normal? He wears a cape, puts on an accent, and isn't in a play! To me, Adrien just seemed to fall into a relationship with Guy without making a choice.

I didn't like him as well, especially since he chose his ex-student, who wanted to kill Adrian and didn't tell Adrian they were still in contact.

Oh me too. I find it kinda sad what happens to them both, because I liked Guy and Adrien in THYS.
I finished listening to DOAPK today. Now I want TDT. As soon as possible. :(
Although I think Adrien was read pretty well (I like it how Chris narrates his humor and sarcasm), I think the most perfect lines were with Jake - especially the end of chapter 22/end of chapter 23. Jakes struggle and pain... I couldn't listen further for a while.

Ugh Guy! Again! Going all haughty and possessive.... while doing things far worse then talking! ! DOAPK will probably drive me crazy....;)

I see, your love for Guy is unbearable, lol. ;)

I think only Guy and Bryce provoke these kind of feelings with me.... I absolutely can not stand them. Can't remember so utterly disliking other exes like that... not even Paul.... well he's a sociopath and I hate him but Guy and Bryce.... I just can't stand them.... ;)

But I wonder what you thought of Jake after THYS and not knowing what happens next.

As for THYS..... lets just say that I've never ever been as grateful that ebooks and 1 click at Amazon had been invented as I was at 2 o'clock in the morning and me a nervous wreck having finished THYS and I just HAD TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED NEXT! !
I can't tell you how often I wanted to kick Jake during those books.... ;)

I think Bryce is pretty harmless, but I did kind of build him to put Mark's teeth on edge (and plenty of readers too, I suspect). ;-D
Guy definitely crosses some lines, but he doesn't do it maliciously. He doesn't believe Peter is a threat to Adrien and he believes Adrien is wrong in his unforgiving attitude.
I think Guy has many good qualities, but he is a bit blind there.

I had high hopes for 5 and in mine humble opinion, Jake could have groveled a bit more. :)

It's partly because we see more each time we read, and then the audio adds a new dimension. Plus we love the characters and so we think about them even when we're not reading.
All of which is a tribute to you as an author, of course.

I knew what was going to happen so the whole time I had this dread in my stomach and when Jake finally came.... oh, dear.... my heart cramped in sympathy.

I find this fascinating, that no matter how many times i read the AEs, every single time i feel everything as intensely as during the first read. The only difference as far as i can tell is that now i am able to let go of the book for a few hours, while i go about Real Life. I love the audiobooks and now Jake has Chris' voice in my head, but that visceral, intense reaction, still comes when reading the books.
I bet you're right. I think it is getting them into audio that has rejuvenated interest. Well! I think putting them into audio was even partly why I hit on the CYOA idea. I had literally not read those books since they were published through Loose Id and MLR. Having to sit there and listen to them sparked my interest in them too. :-D

Anyway, I'm up and about this week, because I really, really have to, but I'm still sick.
