Catherine (bowfamily) | 11 comments I had to drive today for about two hours, so off I went to get a new audio book for the trip.
I downloaded I Spy Something Bloody ok, let's give it a try. I was driving along not real happy about having to make the trip when the scene of Mark tripping over the dog started, I was smiling and the trip became worth the drive to have that much time alone with Mark and Stephen. I am slowly working my way thru the catalogue and I know I will continue to find gems like today. And that is why I love Josh Lanyon books, you just never know were a scene will lead you.

HJ | 3603 comments I'm listening to I Spy Something Bloody, and I'm really pleased that I have a long drive tomorrow and can get really stuck into it. I bought the full collection!

Mark's just seen Stephen drive off in another man's sports car...

I have been listening to the whole collection this weekend, I have enjoyed it immensely, a very beautiful narration. And the books themselves, as always it is a pleasure to revisit Josh's stories.

I'm only a little bit ahead of you in the I Spy Something Bloody audio book, Hj. :-) I ALWAYS tremendously enjoy revisiting these two guys — I love, love, love the dynamics between them. And I find all the I Spy... stories extremely uplifting. If a guy like Mark who has screwed up big time in a relationship manages to have a second chance... well, then anything is possible in life. ;-)

And Manu, if you are lurking in the shadows, I found myself thinking of you while I listened to I Spy Something Bloody today. And the reason for that is our nice chat in Manchester and the realization that we both appreciate older men (in books, anyway). :-)

Ame | 1744 comments I bought The Best Man as an audio book just minutes before I found out about I Spy.... making me throw a tantrum but I shouldn't have doubted Kristan Higgins. She really is an excellent author.... I'm 2 chapters into the book and the poor heroine just can't catch a break. Her boyfriend/fiance of eight years outs himself on the wedding day.... her next two hit ons are gay, then there's an drug addict and a married man.

Perfect listening to while doing the housework.

I was really enjoying the reading voice(s) and the stories, but three days ago I left off exactly where Hj was three hours ago in the first story, right at that angsty moment! Not intentionally, but because I had to catch up with other stuff I'd back-burnered. And I want to savor these, to listen when I'm not distracted by my to-do lists.

It doesn't feel like nine months have passed since In From the Cold The I Spy Stories (I Spy, collected) by Josh Lanyon , which is a good thing since having read/reread the print version "recently" reminds me that things get better for these guys... better and better and we see in Haunted Heart. : )

Johanna - this brought back happy memories! Manu, where are you? You need to listen to Stephen's lovely accent!

Yeah, I was also thinking about the one lunch when Manu, you and me shared a table. It was so nice to talk together. It was great to get to know you two a little better. We talked about our countries and our interests (studying, etc.) and even religion (LOL), but I also remember that Manu had this cool plot all planned out and it involved art theft in Firenze. We agreed that Josh should write something similar for Will and Taylor. ;-)

Maybe that's what Manu's doing? She became an art thief!

Valerie (valerie_c) | 1519 comments I started listening to I Spy Something Bloody on my way to work this morning. It's funny, I'm from Virginia and I was thinking how nice it is to listen to the narrator's British accent!

Virginia accents can vary a lot, depending on the region and whatnot. But I'm from the same area where the book takes place, and I think (from what I've heard so far) he does a good job with Stephen's accent. It doesn't make me cringe or anything. ;-)

I am really enjoying the narration. I think I have a soft spot for Mark. I just love him. :-)

I must say The Lanyon Home For Wayward Readers has a really nice, comforting ring to it. I'll share my MM library with ya'll if you let me move in. Provided, of course, that no damage befalls my books. Some people are just brutal with paperbacks!

Lol.

I just saw the I Spy in audio this morning as I wonder what to take on my long car trip next week. I've always loved that series, especially the setting. Even with all the bloodiness, the setting is a bit comforting.

Someone mentioned Marshall Thornton's books on audio. I might try those too. But are there any other MM authors on audio? Part of me is curious, the other part of me wonders what will happen once I've listened to all of Josh's works, aside from listening to them again!

Some other m/m audio books that I enjoyed include:

One Real Thing
A Reason To Believe
Clear Water
Widdershins
American Love Songs
Out of the Pocket (not really m/m but good YA Coming out/coming of age story)

I also LOVED The Student Prince and the audio is free (and read by the author): http://www.audiofic.jinjurly.com/stud...

And on this note, LB and I are both doing Christmas audio releases this year. Mine is The Dickens With Love narrated by Sean Crisden (what a professional that guy is, what a pleasure to work with!) and Simple Gifts by a newish narrator Chase Miller.

Two little heartfelt audio books ready for the holidays.

He just finished and submitted the files for Death of a Pirate King. So now I have to listen, he has to do the edits, and then we should have a book ready to go by late October/early November.

I can't wait to hear his DoaPK.

I've found myself listening to the second AE book several times since I got it. For audio, right now, it's my fave in the series. I can't pinpoint why, but I think it has to do with all the subtle and not so subtle signs Jake's giving about how he feels that neither of them are picking up on. And the fact that they're closer here than they are in the first three books.

Can't wait for Pirate King either! Squeeee!

Becky Black (beckyblack) I'm listening to the audiobook of the 2nd Chaos Walking book.

The Ask and the Answer (Chaos Walking, #2) by Patrick Ness

It's a brilliant reading by the narrator Humphrey Bower. He makes all the voices, including the female ones, so distinct, without them sounding silly.

If Death of a Pirate King is out by the 16th of this month then it's going to have to fight it out with the third part of this trilogy. :D

I can't imagine it'll be out by the 16th. ACX is taking a long time to get books into the sales channel. In Sunshine or In Shadow might be out by the 16th. But I'm guessing Pirate King won't be available until November at this time.
