Hubby is really into Harry Styles' music right now. Also I'm becoming a fan. And I dig Harry's style in clothing! :-)

How fun! Thanks for posting these.
I don't know if it's just me, but when I click the link to Secret at Skull House playlist, YouTube tells me that the playlist doesn't exist.

KALEO's cool new tune. Their videos tend to be of dramatic Icelandic scenery and this one is no exception. It's stunning and a little vertigo-inducing!Break My Baby by KALEO

Jon Batiste is also a talented pianist, here his rendition of: Blackbird
(I know it is from 2016, bit I discovered him just lately, because of the "I Need You'' video)

I've also been listening to more Jon Batiste lately! I love his new song. I know him from television (he's Stephen Colbert's bandleader), so it's neat to get to know him better as a jazz musician.

Lil Nas X has a queer new song and the video is an amazing super queer fantasy epic. It's wild! He's getting a lot of backlash for being unapologetically queer and Black (and for riding a stripper pole to hell and grinding on the devil :D ), so check it out and feast your eyes. He plays all the parts himself--it's the perfect Covid music video! MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name) by Lil Nas X

Mick Jagger (born in 1943) recruited Foo Figthers' Dave Grohl for his new song Eazy Sleazy
“I wanted to share this song that I wrote about coming out of lockdown, with some much needed optimism,” tweeted Jagger.
This is in fact the chorus:
We escaped from the prison walls/Open the windows and open the doors/But it’s easy easy/Everything’s gonna get really freaky/Alright on the night/It’s gonna be a garden of earthly delights.

I like it! The lyrics are amusing--"Took a samba class I landed on my ass." :)

Sir Ian McKellen reads Harvey Milk's Hope Speech, first delivered on the steps of San Francisco City Hall, encouraging people to celebrate their differences and offering hope for the future. Milk spoke on the steps of San Francisco City Hall as he addressed the Gay Freedom Day Parade in 1978. Five months later, he would be shot to death in his office. The Hope Speech

So now I tried again to post some links for songs, and it didn't work. Could someone else try to post links to songs, please?
I'll give it a try. This song came out fifty years ago today, and it's still awesome. What's Going On by Marvin Gaye

It still doesn't work with many links, so here one song after the other, because I'd like to pay homage to Franco Battiato, a great Italian singer and musician who died yesterday, age 76.Centro di gravità permanente

I love this song by The Devonns (Chicago-based Rare Soul 4-piece):Blood Red Blues (How Long?)
Ajjarapu ((the songwriter)) noted in his statement about the song that he wrote it “about my frustration with the lack of progress America has made on issues, such as the Trayvon Martin case or the Sandy Hook massacre. It’s like everyone here is mad about those things, but no one actually has any power to change them… I remember trying to imagine if Sam Cooke or Marvin Gaye could somehow come back and see how things had changed in 30 or 40 years, how might they feel?” Again, while the song might not have been connected to what has recently happened in Minnesota, such comments make it just as easily connected to the ongoing events.

That's a very good point. We're all angry and upset that terrible things like that are happening, but we don't really have the power to make changes. It's really disheartening.

I enjoyed this very much, but it did lead me into a long YouTube-land sojourn where I ended up finding and noting a dozen versions of "The Parting Glass"... which is funny because I'm pretty sure I did the same thing when we group-read your book here. :)

On Sunday I'm going to a small concert by this musician who mixes Swiss folklore and modern music. At the beginning of the 90ies I loved her version of a traditional song (video, 1' 34''):

I've just discovered Janelle Monáe, better late than never ;-).In 2015, Janelle Monáe released the visceral and raw "Hell You Talmbout," a protest song that directly listed the names of the Black lives lost at the hands of law enforcement and vigilantes...
Hell You Talmbout (= Hell you talkin' 'bout)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fumaC...
Five years later, Monáe returns to the movement, with "Turntables," a marked difference of energy, delivery and presentation. When compared to the exposed pain of "Hell You Talmbout," "Turntables" sounds sleeker, more palatable and mainstream. But its messaging remains just as urgent.
