Antonella | 11565 comments Nice song for readers/writers/librarians. It is also the soundtrack of my favourite radio book programme: Wordy Rappinghood by Tom Tom Club (1981)

The lyrics: http://www.metrolyrics.com/wordy-rapp...

Ame | 1744 comments Listening to Adulting 101. I'd read it and found it hilarious. Now listening to Nick J Russo portraying inner monologues of Nick the MM has me laughing out loud again and again. Perfect antidote to politics and other every day life horrors. Fantastic.

Alison | 4756 comments I have been listening to KJ Charles' A Fashionable Indulgence over the last week or two and it was amazingly good. The performance by Matthew Lloyd Davies is beautiful and lively and so nuanced. He completely brought it to life and made me appreciate and understand the book even more. I'm so excited to listen to the next book. He's spectacular. :)

...Oh my god, I just looked him up on Audible and he's doing KJ Charles' new series. Big squee. :)

I listened to the sample and it sounded pretty good!
When I saw that the same narrator did the whole series, I wondered if he would be able to make each main couple sounds different from the others.
I'm curious to know what you think after you listen to the second book. Does he have a good range of voices?

She said in her blog that she’d like to have him for the Magpie series too.

I have complete faith in this performer. His voices are all distinct and full of personality. You can get a pretty good sense of things from the samples. I will report back when I listen to the others. :)

Fair Chance. I read 30% of the Kindle version on "opening night," then started from the beginning again with Audible, then I set it aside for this weekend when I'll have more focused time. I haven't looked at the book discussion topic since then to avoid spoilers, and I'm 60+ messages behind... ; )

Love, love, love J.F. Harding's reading.

Sherlock Holmes: The Definitive Collection

Stephen Fry is an excellent narrator, it is not the first Sherlock Holmes narration, I have heard, but certainly the best.

I'm currently listening to Return on Investment which is narrated by Alexander Masters, and so, is beautifully read. But of course. lol. I'm just not sure of the money aspect of the novel. Investing and things related to it is just way over my little head. :-P

Yes. I'm sad to say that Chris's career has moved him away from audio book narration. Judging by the many, many posts on his FB page about how much he detested narrating audio books, I think this was inevitable.

I just hoped we might get through that final book. :-(

Peg | 75 comments I was listening to The Mermaid Murders this morning in my car. As I pulled into the drive-through I was listening to the scene where Special Agent West was interviewing The Huntsman in prison. No chance of a sex scene, I don’t need to turn my sound down. I pay at the window, and as the nice young girl was leaning out to hand me my credit card, “…you f#!@ing fish c@nt” comes through loud and clear on my speakers.

Sigh….

When it's a beautiful morning, this is the song that comes into my head. I love the beginning. I watched the sunrise this morning and sat out on the deck with a nice cup of tea and it was so beautiful and made me all blubbery with the "life is amazing" feelings. There are distinct advantages to being up early on a Saturday. The sky is clear and the sun is bright and the air is cool and life is good. Time to go do something fun and forget about all life's dumb stuff for a while. Have a great weekend, friends. :)

There are even more coincidences: my neighbour's daughter si spending some months working in a farm near Tralee. So I sent her the video: she had seen the first reportage on Irish TV and her hosts told her that the farmer - living 30 miles away from them - speaks English like this because normally speaks Irish all the time.

I'm on a Sons of the Pioneers kick. :-)

My parents had a Sons of the Pioneers album when we were growing up and we memorized a bunch of the songs and would sing them together as a family. :-D

Hearing them again brings back memories of vacations spent at my grandparents mountain cabin.

Here two versions (some 3 minutes each):

- one sung (miaowd?) by Teresa Berganza, mezzosoprano, and

ETA: Traditionally attributed to Rossini, but probably not written by him.
