From Examiner.com:

"After several days of astute speculation, Josh Boone has now been confirmed as the chosen director for The Fault In Our Stars, the Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen-produced adaptation of John Green's lauded YA novel of the same name.

Boone issued this statement to The Hollywood Reporter on the news, declaring his affection for and plans to adapt John Green's story:

John's book came along just when I needed it. It pierced my heart and helped me deal with my grief. I laughed and cried and was left with an overwhelming feeling of hope. That our lives matter, that the love and kindness we share with others reverberates long after we're gone.

I feel the weight and responsibility to get this right and give his readers and devoted fans as pure a translation as possible … We hope to create a little infinity within this film that fans can revisit over and over.

Actresses Shailene Woodley and Hailee Steinfeld are both rumored to be in contention for the leading role of Hazel, a sixteen year old suffering terminal cancer who finds an epic romance with a boy named Augustus Waters in a kids cancer support group meeting.

Production is expected to begin this summer."

OMG!!!! Cannot wait!!!!!!!!
I saw this news on Miss.Literati's website and was VERY VERY EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope the movie is unique in its own way and I hope it brings to mind different concepts that might not have been seen in the book. I also hope that it is not a complete book to movie adaptation because I do want there to be many differences. I want each to be individual in their own way.
I also do not want the movie to taint the book.

I'm also hoping they won't do a 'let's-turn-the-first-book-into-a-movie-and-not-the-rest' act, like what happened with Inkheart and Eragon. Hopefully they'll turn all the books into movies.

talltyrion | 708 comments You guys are gonna hate me, but I cannot and will not see this movie. The Fault in Our Stars is a book that changed my life. I've made countless mistakes going to movies that were adapted from books, and yes, maybe they were good, but they forever changed and marred my beloved characters and the stories I spend hours and hours poring over. Some things are sacred.

talltyrion | 708 comments Good air in, bad air out. Breathe. A little head-hanging-in-shame is not out of the question.

Ciara | 12 comments I will definitely be watching this. I understand where WordlesslyAmazed03 is coming from but it will be interesting to see how well this goes.

message 8: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion | 708 comments Well, tell me if you like it, but don't try to convince me to go.

message 9: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion | 708 comments No one is. I just hope she cuts her hair. She could give Hazel that much respect if she knows her that well.

message 10: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion | 708 comments Hazel has a pageboy haircut. "Pixie-haired", as Augustus put it.

Same here. I am just waiting for that moment and hoping that they choose as accurate a portrayal for Augustus. And if the actor doesn't look like Augustus, then I hope he is a damn good actor so that his acting makes up for his looks.

message 12: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion | 708 comments No one looks like Augustus. That's the wonder of the thing.

message 13: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion | 708 comments Glad to quote. I'm feeling very quoty today. And evil. And I'm kinda in a I-Hate-Everyone mood.

message 14: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion | 708 comments Even then.

Of course no-one wants the movie to be a replica of the book otherwise what's the point. You'd be watching something that you could just read.

I guess you guys are right. No-one can really look like Augustus.
As long as they can act really well, that's what matters. What each cast member brings to the movie is what matters.

message 16: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion | 708 comments I agree wholeheartedly. It just won't be The Fault in Our Stars anymore. Me? I'm holding on as long as I can.

message 17: by Wei-Wei (new)

Wei-Wei (wwchen) | 21 comments What do you think about Ansel Elgort?

message 18: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion | 708 comments NONONONO Isn't he Caleb in Divergent? CERTAINLY NOT.

message 19: by Wei-Wei (new)

Wei-Wei (wwchen) | 21 comments Isn't it funny how things worked out that way?
I think he's going to do very well though. He isn't exactly the Augustus look but there's some of Gus in him.

message 20: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion | 708 comments You do realize that now The Fault in Our Stars and Divergent have the same main characters, right?

message 21: by Wei-Wei (new)

Wei-Wei (wwchen) | 21 comments Yeah, which is really crazy.
Shailene Woodley is Tris and Ansel Elgort her brother. It'd be weird if he were Four too but we have Theo James for that. James is so old for this role...

message 22: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion | 708 comments My misanthropy abounds to include them all.

message 23: by Wei-Wei (new)

Wei-Wei (wwchen) | 21 comments Aww, that's too bad. Who would you have picked to play Hazel and Augustus?

message 24: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion | 708 comments No one. I would have preferred it to stay a novel forever.

message 25: by Wei-Wei (new)

Wei-Wei (wwchen) | 21 comments Ah, I understand. Divergent too?

message 26: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion | 708 comments Absolutely. Many great books, as well.

message 27: by talltyrion (new)

talltyrion | 708 comments THANK YOU, someone agrees with me.

When I at first heard there was going to be a movie, I was all "How the HECK can they turn it into a movie?! It's going to be terrible and lose all the emotion...", etc etc.
But now that I've seen the cast and some of John's videos on the Vlogbrothers channel, my faith has been restored. Green seems to be exceedingly pleased with how things are going and I think the actors look the part so now I eagerly await it! It CANNOT come soon enough.

Olivia (olivia1395) | 1948 comments I love the poster:) And the pun.

I like who they picked as Augustus, maybe not exactly how I pictured him, but I'd say pretty close.

message 38: by Olivia (new)

LOVED THE MOVIE! It was true to the book but original in its own light. It didn't try to be better than the book.
