I saw this news on Miss.Literati's website and was VERY VERY EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope the movie is unique in its own way and I hope it brings to mind different concepts that might not have been seen in the book. I also hope that it is not a complete book to movie adaptation because I do want there to be many differences. I want each to be individual in their own way.
I also do not want the movie to taint the book.

You guys are gonna hate me, but I cannot and will not see this movie. The Fault in Our Stars is a book that changed my life. I've made countless mistakes going to movies that were adapted from books, and yes, maybe they were good, but they forever changed and marred my beloved characters and the stories I spend hours and hours poring over. Some things are sacred.
Good air in, bad air out. Breathe. A little head-hanging-in-shame is not out of the question.
I will definitely be watching this. I understand where WordlesslyAmazed03 is coming from but it will be interesting to see how well this goes.

Same here. I am just waiting for that moment and hoping that they choose as accurate a portrayal for Augustus. And if the actor doesn't look like Augustus, then I hope he is a damn good actor so that his acting makes up for his looks.

Of course no-one wants the movie to be a replica of the book otherwise what's the point. You'd be watching something that you could just read.
I guess you guys are right. No-one can really look like Augustus.
As long as they can act really well, that's what matters. What each cast member brings to the movie is what matters.
I agree wholeheartedly. It just won't be The Fault in Our Stars anymore. Me? I'm holding on as long as I can.

When I at first heard there was going to be a movie, I was all "How the HECK can they turn it into a movie?! It's going to be terrible and lose all the emotion...", etc etc.
But now that I've seen the cast and some of John's videos on the Vlogbrothers channel, my faith has been restored. Green seems to be exceedingly pleased with how things are going and I think the actors look the part so now I eagerly await it! It CANNOT come soon enough.

I can't wait! I love how involved John Green was in the movie and the cast is fantastic. This is by far one of my favorite books and seeing it on the big screen will definitely be an adventure!

Boone issued this statement to The Hollywood Reporter on the news, declaring his affection for and plans to adapt John Green's story:
John's book came along just when I needed it. It pierced my heart and helped me deal with my grief. I laughed and cried and was left with an overwhelming feeling of hope. That our lives matter, that the love and kindness we share with others reverberates long after we're gone.
I feel the weight and responsibility to get this right and give his readers and devoted fans as pure a translation as possible … We hope to create a little infinity within this film that fans can revisit over and over.
Actresses Shailene Woodley and Hailee Steinfeld are both rumored to be in contention for the leading role of Hazel, a sixteen year old suffering terminal cancer who finds an epic romance with a boy named Augustus Waters in a kids cancer support group meeting.
