Hi there,It's been a while since I've been on Goodreads. Anyone fancy a buddy read? I don't have anything in mind, however, I'm open to suggestions!

      Hey Jo..
If you have any interest in grimdark or epic fantasy, I have some of that stuff lined up for January. Last night I started Harry Potter and the Cursed Child - Parts One and Two

After I finish up my current book; I here that there's a number of king fans will be starting up the dark tower series

Well, I'm kind of an idiot. I didn't think about what group I was in when I posted my upcoming buddy options lol. Ahh well.

Is anyone interested in reading Salems Lot w/ me I've been lately introduced to Kings work and so far admire it, I am reading "It" - Stephen King currently and want to read either "The Shining" or "Salems Lot" as a buddy read. Is anyone interested?

Ashley wrote: "Hi, just want to say that those are great choices. I actually read both The Shining and 'Salem's Lot back to back last year. So far The Shining is my favorite King novel! Salem's Lot started off strong and mysterious but the ending felt anti-climatic for me. "..."Even us die-hard King fans unilaterally agree that King is often an epic fail at endings.
Just started reading The Long Walk! If anyone else is reading, or recently read it, I'd love to discuss!

Jessica wrote: "Just started reading The Long Walk! If anyone else is reading, or recently read it, I'd love to discuss!"It's one of my very favorites, and although I won't be reading along, I've read it many times and would love to discuss it with you.
I guess I'll muddy u the discussion by saying that this is one of King's best books. I've read it a couple of times. So I may chime in and comment, though it's been a couple of years since my last read and my plate is too full for a re-read at this time.

He wrote The Long Walk when he was very young and Vietnam was a big part of being American. I think the walk is a bit of a stand in for that and since he was the right age it all rings incredibly authentic. To this day I have a perfect picture of Stebbins in my head and if the movie ever gets made (Darbont, please!) it will be hard to see the wrong person cast.
I don't know where else to post this, as I'm late to the party on reading 11/22/63!I'll be starting it in around 2 weeks or so, as I wait for my copy at the library. I don't read too fast, and I see it's LONG.
Anyone else want to read along? :-)
Topics I find on this book are closed or are not active; I know the book was out in 2011, but there's SO MANY BOOKS I want to read! And not just by SK!! :-)
Just drop a message in here for any SK or non SK subject you are sure to find someone who will read it with you and plenty of others who have read it will be willing to comment along with your reading of it. I am currently re-reading the Stand and am a bit behind the rest of the group because I was reading two books at once. Normally that wouldn't be a problem but the book I was reading was a loaner from a friend and had to concentrate on that more then the Stand.

Wise Cat, if you start posting on the existing thread for the book others will definitely start discussing it with you. There are a lot of people who love 11/22/63.

Thanks MrBooks and ElleEm. I didn't know if I was supposed to start a separate thread in this forum, or keep posting in this thread which has multiple books mentioned. :-)It does look like I can start a topic on this book in the "main" Buddy Reads forum, as I see topics on books like The Stand, Dark Tower, and Salem's Lot. Maybe when I start it, I'll start the topic there and post a link to it here?
ElleEm, I know what you mean by concentrating on a book or story cause the book was loaned to you. I've borrowed books from people before.
I love anything to do with time travel (by King or not), so it sounds like something I'll enjoy even if's so LONG, LOL. And it seems different from his usual scary stuff he writes like Cujo.
I just started reading Christine by Stephen King. I'd love to discuss it if anyone else is diving into this as well!

Okay, I posted this link on 11/22/63:https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
After being on this site since 2012, there's still times when I don't know what I'm doing or if I'm posting in the "right" place, LOL.
Hello! I'm fairly new here, but I'm wondering if anyone would like to join me on reading The Stand by Stephen King?

Hana wrote: "Hello! It was slated from Jun - Aug. We are about to start a group read of the Dark Tower series, and we are also talking about reading his books in chronological order. Keep an eye on this thread as we are always popping in to talk about one or another of SK's books. There is a separate thread for the Dark Tower group read if you want it let me know and I will try to pass it on to you.

Evan wrote: "Awesome! When would you want to start it?"I'd be happy to read with you. Let me know when you want to start. It's one of my favorites by him.
Evan wrote: "I was thinking of starting it sometime this week, but I can hold it off."I'm good whenever, just let me know.
Evan wrote: "Should I start a thread for this?"We can just continue to post on the "old" thread. That will bring it current and to the top. I'll find it.
Rose Madder by Stephen King. I’ve always gotten about half-way through before the story fell flat for me and I’d love a buddy to help push me to victory on this piece!
Start date: November 1st
Tiphanie wrote: "Rose Madder start date on Nov 12th* my apologies"Hey Tiphanie, can't do another Buddy read right now (have too many going as is). I did like the book a lot myself, though I have to admit that the second half (relating to the painting) is pretty weird. I checked your progress and all I can say is better hang on for the section called The Picnicers to learn about Norman and his fate. Things get intense right there. From then on, though, the adventures with the painting may leave you wondering just what's going on. Trying to figure that out is the challenge of the book. But I think the portrayal of Rosie as a battered woman and her escape is some of King's best writing.
Cindi wrote: "Just finished The Shining, and have started Dr Sleep. Anyone interested in budding up?"Ooh, I just finished that one last week. Yes, I'd be interested!😊
Cindi wrote: "Just finished The Shining, and have started Dr Sleep. Anyone interested in budding up?"Im on page 317 of Dr. Sleep. Its really good so far and is veering toward what feels like the climax.

It's really good, enjoy!
Kylie wrote: "Hi! Does anyone want to buddy read Pet Sematary?"I just checked, and the audiobook is available on Libby. It takes me longer to listen to a book than read it, so if you are okay with a more leisurely read, I'd be happy to join you.
Kandice, I'm okay with that! I have read it before, and it would actually be more fun to have a chill readthrough. :)
