Oh, I see. That makes a form of sense. Okay, so what do you recommend I do? Somehow update the edition, repost the cover, and fill out the history in a comment, or something?
Also, "updating" the valid, published volume 1 is also contrary to policy. I have reverted your changes and created a new edition for the combined work.
Okay, great, thank you very much. I'm sorry for effing that up, and I'm very glad I asked. I'll try to use my librarian status with my own books more responsibly in the future. Take the time to read the faq and whatnot. Thanks again for the help, and sorry for the missteps.
Okay, one moment. I'm looking for a bit more help here. I see where you made the new one, and titled it an omnibus. As author, I need to be in control of the branding of my work.Honestly, I'm trying to author a second edition that contains the original first two stories. I do NOT want it called an "omnibus," I do NOT want the next book in the series to be #3 because goodreads librarian policy forced me, the author, to title my 2nd edition of #1 an omnibus (regardless of whether or not it contains text from an the original sequel--I do not want it branded as compilation of two stories).
As an author I hope I retain the right to play semantics with the branding of my works. I have unpublished both the first editions of #1 and #2 from amazon. The 2nd Edition of #1 is out, it contains the original sequel, which will receive a 2nd edition sequel, all new.
Now, can't I migrate reviews from the 1st Edition of #1 to the new, 2nd of #1?
This also matters because the first two manuscripts are being looked at by Harpercollins as one manuscript, The Rail City (Rail City Chronicles, #1). In the meantime, how am I supposed to square my platform to them, if goodreads doesn't allow me to consolidate this title? I can't come out of the gate with an, "omnibus," half of which was available online for a few days but never read. It would be asinine.
I hope you can see my concerns, and I appreciate your help. Sorry if I've been unclear or too troublesome. Thank you again.
Goodreads policy uses the original publication of a work as its base information.
And no, we do not "migrate" user reviews. If individual users choose to move their reviews, that's fine, of course.

So what you're saying is that the new book is going to be book 1 in the ongoing series, and the two books already released will retroactively be parts 1 and 2 of book 1?
Yes. Actually, even less intrusively than that, what was in book #2, 1st edition will simply be the last few chapters of book #1, 2nd edition.*Grovel Edition* If...that's okay (I'm really trying to strike a balance between adhering to goodreads policies and fulfilling my needs as an idiot)?
Again, I'm hoping I can do this through the magic of editions, and setting primary editions, as I've done already. That way the history of the original publications are still intact on goodreads, yet my platform and current publications list isn't...wonky, and strange.
Okay, I think this is accurate, then:http://www.goodreads.com/series/96441...
And if you can add Heaven & Sky as a new book, we can add it to this series as book 2.
Lol ^_^; I'm difficult! Woohoo!Sorry, honestly I'm a tinkerer, and worse yet, a control freak. What I really need is a publishing house and a literary agent to tell me what to do.
