Rose | 2 comments I read this series about 15-20 yrs ago and I can't remember any of the titles. The magic structure is elements based where each person has a strength in a specific element. It is set in a Regency style era but not a real location. It starts off with the basic 4 elements (earth, air, fire, water) and one other I can't remember, then they "discover" spirit. The group eventually total 6 (3 men & 3 women) and they end up paired off into couples. Each of the heroes are from very different parts of society and they are brought together by the government to train and then figure out they are being manipulated. They eventually lead a rebellion and overthrow the current rulers.
What has stuck with me most is how the Spirit users were able to perceive the future; they could see all of the possibilities and those outcomes that had a higher likelihood would be more solid/visible. There were time when there were to many possibilities that were all as likely to happen and they couldn't perceive anything.
Any one have any help on finding this?

Lou Rocama | 457 comments Sounds like Sharon Green's 'Blending' series.

Main difference is the mystery element isn't spirit, it's prophecy or destiny or something (spirit's there at the beginning), which is why there's six people in the end rather than five. Otherwise it's exactly like your description.
