Amazon and Half Price Books. Half Price Books is awesome, find lots of gems on their shelves and love their clearance section. I have a Kindle but I still prefer the feel of a book over it.
If I was a US resident, I would definitely use Over-Drive to get ebooks from my local library. What a shame, French people are really narrow minded when it comes to ebooks. They feel threatened by modernity/ebooks instead of embracing it/them! :(
amazon, barnes and noble, used book stores, books a million, library and anywhere i can get my hands on them
Indigo/Coles, my local library, used book stores and Over-Drive (we have it here in Canada Vanessa!)
i get my books through amazon, abebook, alibris and some other site.
Barns and Nobles and the library. :) I love buying books than renting them. :)
I go to my local Half Price Books about once a week and check out the sale section for every genre. I can almost always find at least 2 popular books for under $2.00 a piece. I'm always finding crazy deals on great books when I shop there. If I'm actually looking for a specific book and it isn't at HPB I shop on Amazon.
My mother-in-law also works at B&N and will pick up books for me. I get a lot of education books and newer books this way. She is so wonderful!
I'm almost exclusively a Kindle reader - soooo...Amazon and the public library are my two favorite places to "browse" I also have a few book blogs to help me find something interesting...http://www.fkbooksandtips.com/2013/02...

I heard tuebl is good to find free ebooks but I'm not sure it's legal.
I troll many places to feed my addiction! The library is a good source as I will put new books on hold. I also frequent Half Price Books, Amazon of course and my dad's bookshelves. If anyone here is from Arizona, the public library is now renting Nooks.

Tracy, I have the regular kindle and I love it. However, it's only for reading. If you want something more in the line of an iPad, i would recommend Kindle fire...
Tracy - A Kindle Fire is MUCH cheaper than something like an ipad, it's what I have and I've had no problems with it. In fact I love it.
I buy almost from anywhere. Garage Sales, second hand stores, Superstore (Grocery Store), Costco... mostly from Chapters, or Amazon when I buy in large quantities... I try to always get Hardcover, 1st editions...
I get most of my books from the library as well. I only buy those books that I really would like to have a permanent copy of.
Since we no longer have a bookstore in town after the demise of Waldenbooks, I purchase books from thrift stores and from Friends of the Library sales. E-books I purchase electronically on my devices--from Kobo for my ereader and from Amazon or Barnes & Noble for my Kindle Fire.
I am not a fan of e-readers, and I plan on being the last reader of paper books in the world. I get most of my books from the library. Books I love I will then try to buy at used book stores or garage sales. Couple times a year, I do put in orders through Amazon for new books that get routinely high reviews and I can't wait for
I always try to find an ebook before I go to a bookshop. Of course I visit library sometimes, but actually I've got too many books on my bookshelves to read. Only if I found sth really special , then I'd borrow it.
Anywhere I can. I can scarcely go past a bookshop without popping in...and now, the Kindle...well....I have a LOT of books....
I'm a student atm, so unfortunately, I can't spend money on a lot of books even if I wanted to. :'(I usually just get books from the library, unless I find a book that I really really love and need to own.
Ebay, amazon and book depository.com. Book depository is generally cheaper than both but occasionally amazon is cheaper and amazon and ebay are the ones which also sell rare out of print books.
I don't think I saw www.smashwords.com mentioned. If you are an e reader there are free books and many $0.99 books.

Library, Amazon, BAM, Barnes and Noble
Amazon.com, yard sea and thrift stores. I love a good hard copy find, though I tend to read a lot more of the electronic books lately.
I get my books from two libraries. I just joined and I'm loving Goodreads. It sure helps to find out about books I may be interested in.
I get my books from amazon, used book stores, when books are on sale at any shop, library, and on my kindle, gotta love a kindle. =D
I download ebooks from Amazon for my Kindle and buy some new, but I get most my books from Goodwill for 2-3bucks. And they r always in good but mostly great condition.
I buy almost all of my books at Half Price Bookstore. Sometimes I end up buying them at Target if I see one I just have to have.
Half price books, B&N, Costco, Amazon, garage sales, and small local used book stores. My favorite local used book store is Underground Adventures in Richland WA. My folks live there and we never leave town without stoping. I usually binge on book purchases there - great selection and fun shop.
I have a Barnes and Nobles card so i get my books there :D but if i'm sketchy about a book then i check it out at the library if i like it, then i will buy it :D I am obsessed with buying books :D
I get hard copy books from used book stores, library book sales and eBay for the most part. I NEVER pay full retail for my books. However, for Christmas this last year, I got a Nook and now I read almost exclusively on it. I now get most my books from the library lending service Overdrive, B&N's sale books and Books On Board!
Amazon used if possible, Barns Noble, Goodwill, Library, Flea Market. I also donate my books after I read them to the Library or VA Hospital, and my magazines to the dr offices..
