Christine, did you make a mistake when you posted it or did you just decide that you're going to read less this year?

Team challenges can be difficult with different personalities on a team. Some teams work out better than others. I find that I have to take a step back and make sure I'm not being too competitive. If we don't finish all the tasks because someone messed up what they were supposed to do, oh well. Winning isn't my goal. Having fun with it is. I have more fun if I just relax with it a little.
Also, I have found that it is sometimes difficult to get across your thoughts or interpret how a comment is intended because everything is written. There is little context and no intonation. So, a person may not be upset even if they come across that way. I try not to read too much into it.
Honestly, the best advice I can give is not to dwell on it too much. It can be very frustrating and if you don't let it go quickly it can ruin the whole challenge for you. Just "talk" it out and work together as best you can. Good luck!

Well I totally agree with your response but the individual decided not to talk with me to try to work out differences they left me hanging. then the second person literally did the same thing to me. I am pissed and upset it ruined the challenge that i was so so excited about doing. Communication was the issue imo but a little more communicating so things could of been clarified and hurt feelings if there where some could have been solved. Instead they run to the moderator and quit without saying hey by the way this is why you said ... so if i am the problem then in the future i will be even more careful in word choice to not offend. If you explain how you read to someone else they should not get offended I do not expect anyone to read like me nor I read like them but to have a basic understanding how you read helps Gage time needed to complete tasks or the team member can expect maybe something taking a day longer for example. anyways i will never do a team challenge again people need to get over themselves and be an adult to talk things through with your teammate. Communication is the key and i am ok with people pointing to me and saying I did something wrong it will help me grow and give me an opportunity to apologize if I am wrong. I will be the first to admit if i am wrong and i do not get offended I just want clear communication so my reading time is spent wisely. Thank you for your advice i really took your words to heart and tried to move past but why wait so many days to walk away I will never understand.

It is funny a few times me and you did not agree on a book but i totally appreciated the discussion back and forth it allows me to step back and reflect from your point of view and sometimes I think to myself her points was good and i would have to agree. It makes me excited about reading and engaging on the story by discussions is so amazing to me because each of us brings in our opinion of what we read. We bantered back and forth shook hands in the end and agreed to disagreed but like I said I always go back and do self refection from other people's opinion because sometimes you learn something new or you pick up on something you may have missed when reading it enriches the story and takes it to another level. thanks to all of you who take time to engage with me i hope all of you are not afraid to call me out if I err in what i say or ask me to clarify because i am sensitive to people I do care I do not want to harm or injure others.

Thank you Vicki I think I should have joined your read along that you had I probably would not be feeling the way I do right now. You know when something gets you so excited you cannot wait until it starts then it starts and you feel like a kid in a candy story but then someone steals all your candy and the joy gets sucked out of you. That is how I feel at this moment. I have read books I would never thought I would read but I did it has been a blast on that front. I honestly did not know there are cat shifter stories holy Toledo and it is not that bad rather enjoyable who knew I would like that. I would have never known about it without a challenge. Oh Btw I screamed from the rafters about fantasy not liking it I have to sort of eat my words I started Throne of Glass and so far I am enjoying it. I am pleasantly surprised. I guess I have broaden my horizons a bit. Oh and I have jumped on board feet first into audio books. God Knows if I lose my sight my wife knows to get me audio books to listen to when and if that time comes.

I know what you mean about broadening your horizons. I found out I love Young Adult! Haha Never would have thought.
Anyway, you have to find yourself groups that are good fits for you. And delete the ones that aren't. There are plenty of them out there!
I agree, Susanne. I don't like when people don't communicate. I am also able to do some self reflection and make changes if necessary.
One of my pet peeves is people who drop out of challenges without informing any of their teammates. I really isn't fair to the rest of the team. I'm sorry you had to deal with that (twice!) and it ruined the experience for you.
Up until a few years ago I used to say that I couldn't stand audiobooks. I really didn't enjoy the story being read to me. Now I love them. lol I guess you never know how your tastes will change.

I love audiobooks for the flexibility they give me. They're great when I have a headache. Also, in some cases, they're better than the physical book. Both the In Death series (Susan Ericksen) and the Lady Georgiana series (by the late Katy Kellgren) are much better that way.
As a final note, if you're reading a classic or a book with a lot of foreign words/place names, I find you get a lot more out of them with a reading.
I especially like them for nonfiction and fantasy, Kirsten. Basically, I find my mind wandering at times when there is too much detail or repetition and listening to it keeps my mind on track. I listen to anything though. I love that I can drive or clean or whatever and still be listening to a book. It makes the task more pleasant.

Years ago due to eye strain after working all day my reading was down to zero. I found Audible, looking back there was an adjustment period while I became comfortable to listening to a book and still comprehending what I was hearing without a page in front of my eyes. Since then they have become invaluable. I can be reading while out for a long walk with the dog, shopping, cleaning house, driving, waiting for appointments, and even when I have a migraine just pull the blinds down take some meds and lay back with an audiobook on low. I have converted a few family members into audiobook lovers lol. My one cousin says that their son won’t ever have to mow the yard because he doesn’t want to give up his mowing time, one of the times he is able to work and get in some reading lol.

Yes! I use them a lot while suffering from migraines/sinus headaches.
(Just found out they're offering the Mueller Report for free on Audible. )

I may listen to that on audible the Mueller Report if it is the actual report not some right wing pushing some spin on the Mueller Report. I wish people take this serious cyber war is still war. We need to respond in accordance to protect our country. I am all for hearings to get to the bottom of this to stop this in the future. We will have other countries interfering like North Korea who have the best hackers in the world. This is really serious it is not about impeachment it is about protecting our country and if crimes occurred then they should be dealt with by the law.

What is that Vicki? is that a website.

No , it's the actual report. You can get it free on the Nook too but it's hard for my 50 year old eyes to read.

Ha Ha I am 51 soon to be 52 so I feel you about your eyes lol.

What is that Vicki? is that a website."
It is a website that offers FREE audiobooks appropriate for people 13 and up. I think it is geared toward getting teenagers to read in the summer. I believe it goes for about 14 weeks and offers 2 books per week, FREE!
Well worth a look!

Aw sorry, Christine! Happy wish day to you too. Are we supposed to make wishes today? Is that how it works? I’ve never celebrated world wish day before.

For children battling a critical illness, a wish is more than just a dream. It can be a turning point in their lives. A wish-come-true can give them the emotional and physical strength to keep going – to fight harder against their illness. And, it can help families focus on the possibilities of tomorrow and not on the challenges of today.
This is why wishes need you. In honor of World Wish Day® on April 29, help bring hope and strength to more children battling critical illnesses. Your gift today will show the world: Where there’s a wish, there’s a way.

No worries, Susanne! We all take time for other things sometimes. I haven’t read much over the summer, but I’m hoping to do more in September as well. What is the new hobby you picked up?

Diamond Painting and I am addicted big time.
Oh! I just purchased a diamond painting kit to try. I haven’t used it yet though. I’ve gotten a lot of different art things lately.

Omg you will get addicted it is so relaxing and fun to do. I have done a few ones and just ordered a custom one of my grandsons. We will need to talk more about this. If you like it doing it I will have to tell you the good places to buy from at reasonable prices. Oh and the bigger the kit the better. so getting them 50 X 50 those sizes and up are much clearer the other ones that are smaller are ok but if you want detail go big. I just did some key chain diamond painting. If you like we can share Facebook names and I can show you what I have done so far. The custom I have is from a photo and it will be a 50 X 95 it looks great they did a mock up for me before making it. If you get into it I got so much information for you there is differences in canvases between poured glue which is the best method and double sided tape.
