True, but I'd have to double my reading in December to get to where I was in 2017. I'm sure that won't happen, since I tend to read less in December due to it being a busy month. I'm not worried about it though.

Savanes said that she had a bad reading year in 2017, but did better in 2018. I meant that my reading year in 2018 was worse than 2017. I just read less. I found that I kept getting distracted from books and felt I was in a bit of a slump. I went through several books that I thought were just meh. Just the way it goes sometimes.

Has anyone else had massive issues putting books into "shelves" on goodreads. Everything I categorize seems to create book duplicates lately. It's super frustrating!!!! Any tips or tricks to avoid this would be greatly appreciated.
I have no idea, Ally. That happened to me with a bunch of books when I added them to my choice awards challenge shelf for next year, but it hasn't happened since. I went through and physically deleted all the duplicates. I would suggest leaving a comment in the feedback group or contacting GR for help.

Don't add shelves from a list or someone else's shelves.
That's exactly when it happened Kristie!Every book I already had, I added a check mark and BAM! Instant duplicate. I hope it was a one off.
Thanks Deborah, I did only add new shelves from a book I already had shelved. So, then I don't know.
One of the goals for this year I had that I think I did really good on was reading more new releases.
Is it just me or is Goodreads not allowing you to update your progress on the homepage anymore (and see where you're at for each book you're reading)?Whyyyyyyyyyyy?!!! Arf!
I noticed that too, Savanes! I thought it was a glitch at first. You have to go to the book page now to update your progress.
I'm not a fan. I liked being able to see my progress on all the books I'm reading at the same time on the home page.

Apparently it's happening to everyone and it should be temporary #crossingfingers https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

I don't know if you already noticed, but the progress markers are back on the home page. :)

I was wondering about if we can change some things about buddy reads. I think they need to be a little bit more engaging as a book club would have it. I know people read at different speeds so a solution I had is why not have some daily questions asked to respond too by the reading schedule. This way you can respond to them when you are done with that and read people's responses at that time not to spoil your reading. Another group does this that I am in and the format works oddly. When I read the chapters for that day is when i went on and responded and read other people's responses for that day. The only thing I did was read the questions before I started reading the chapters to allow me to think about them as I absorbed the story. This way we can leave it open and have more participate at their own speed and have a good discussion even if you are done with the book before others. I am not trying to ruffle feathers would just like more engagement in discussions of buddy reads.
Susanne, some buddy read have a lot more discussion than others.
I'm not a fan of the questions because I've found that people just answer the questions and don't engage with each other. I'm in another group that does that with their group reads and no one talks to anyone. I don't think people even read other's responses. Plus, I think that people usually find something to discuss that's not in one of the questions.
Also, someone needs to come up with the questions, so they have to read ahead, or we need to limit the reads to books that have publishers questions published.
I'm more of a fan of the reads that don't have a set schedule. People generally try to pace themselves to others instead. The buddy read we have going now has a schedule that some of us haven't been able to keep up with for various reasons and that leaves the people that have stuck to the schedule with no one to talk to. In that case, leaving spoilers labeled with where you are in the book usually helps and people can come back and read them as they get to that point. Usually there is some discussion then. Feel free to post questions as you think of them while reading also.
No ruffled feathers. lol Just my opinion.

I think I might be the only one who kept to the schedule it is ok. I am just afraid to post something and it gives away the story. So I try to generalize my statements when posting to not give it away. I know I can use spoiler alerts as well.
Do you know how to make the tags you have to click on? We usually do that and just state where in the book you are first so everyone knows when they can click on it.

Oh, that's great. We've had people before that didn't comment because they didn't know how to do the spoilers and didn't ask. 👋🏻

So today was a fun day> I went to see a specialist who does stuff for vertigo. Well he turned me upside down and all around and I wanted to throw up. The room was spinning out of control. I felt like it was torture to be on the edge of all hell coming loose. Well I was white as a ghost at the end and felt terrible. Thank God I did not eat lunch before hand. He wants me to come back Tuesday to keep working on it to fix it. It just sucks when everything starts spinning. I hope none of you have to go through that ordeal it is not fun.
I feel for you!I had vertigo for 4 months last year and was so sick I couldn't even drive. I went to a physical therapy for vertigo which sounds a lot like what you are doing. Let me tell you, It worked! It took some time and when I was there it would make me so nauseous I almost couldn't take it. But over time, it got better and I had to do the exercises for months afterward. Finally, it went away. But let me tell you, I am always scared it will come back because it is terrible!
I hope it gets better for you quickly!!!

I have had the vertigo since October last year. I just now got to see him and he is good at what he does but geez it makes you feel so terrible. I still feel bad today but it will get better. He says that it could be vitamin D deficiency or he also said dehydration. I supplement vitamin D and I drink water no soda but maybe not enough water I am upping my intact to ensure I stay hydrated because when he fixes me I never want to have that again.
Has anyone encountered someone trying to friend you and follow you on here with writing a paragraph to you and then giving you their private email address. I found it creepy especially when I have never seen this person in any of the groups I have been in. I do not know I am a bit paranoid about these things especially because I am very politically active and post strong points of view on twitter and i know about trolls there and I try to watch out for them there. I just thought it to be strange to have that same kind of experience here when this is benign for me. If all that makes sense. i expect it on twitter but not here. What do you do about it here in this platform.
It doesn't happen very often, but you do get the odd one that goes too far. But I just ignore / remove etc and never seem to get bothered again
I agree. It doesn't happen often, but occasionally it does occur. I'm not sure, but I think sometimes it's just people that don't understand the social etiquette of this type of site. Other times it can be a scam. I just don't engage with them. You can block them or report them to Goodreads if they make you uncomfortable.
Guys I am sorry I have not read much in the last week. I am dealing with some medical issues and other personal issues. I have been so exhausted as of late. I need to finish my library books or turn them in and try to get them at a later date.
