Janina (sylarana) | 692 comments Just wondering if you're going to add a Yearly Challenges - 2018 area as well? I would love to have a thread there again to organize my reading challenges for next year (though I think I need to give myself more freedom next year .. but what's life without a list & checkmarks?)

(sorry for being so impatient .. )

I am going to, Janina. I usually do those closer to the new year. I’ll probably get to it in another week or so.

Just thought I'd mention that the 2018 challenges have all been posted and are ready for you to start planning!

message 2208: by Connie (new)

Connie Wisniewski | 110 comments I want to mention that I have been reading since the late 1950s (I am 73). I have marked books as read, but don't remember the year. I am not cheating, just old.

message 2209: by Vicki Willis (new)

Vicki Willis | 1039 comments You just put a smile on my face Connie!
You can mark books read and not be considered cheating. It is a record for you and you are free to do it so it make sense for you.

I'm with you, Connie! I am going to be 68 in January, God willing, and I marked some books when I first began that I had read years ago and didn't remember dates. Some of those I'd like to re-read and see how I would rate them now.

Funny, Connie! Not cheating at all. I added a few books that I read before I joined Goodreads too. I certainly don't remember the dates, just that I read them.

Vicki Willis | 1039 comments Does anyone use Overdrive to listen to AudioSync books? I am having a confusion.
I have all the books I got from AS on my kindle in Overdrive. I noticed I have one title on my IPhone and am listening to it. How do I get the others into Overdrive on my phone? I am not sure how I ended up with one there. Did I download that one in both places? I log into Overdrive but the shelves are not the same.
Any advice?

message 2213: by Lynn Renee (new)

Lynn Renee | 17 comments I'm a bit confused. On the group's front page where it shows your goal for the year and your progress, it says that I have read 6 books out of my goal of 40 books. Then it says that at my current pace I am 14 books 37% behind schedule. This math does not add up to me. So Im curious if I have entered something wrong.

message 2214: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 6868 comments Mod
That's because the Choice Awards challenge runs for two years, Lynn. It includes the books you read last year as well as the books you'll be reading this year. So, by January first, the counter assumes you should be halfway there. Which means, it thinks you should have read 20 books already.

Don't worry too much about the "behind schedule" part. It really only matters if you think you'll be able to read the number of books you set your goal for by the end of the year. So, for you, you would need to read an additional 34 Choice Awards books by the end of December. If you think you can do that, then you're all set.

Lynn Renee | 17 comments I've been having trouble getting into this group for days now. I've tried three different browsers and everything else I can think of with no luck. Tonight, I have finally gotten into the group but when I have tried to update my challenge it was erased yesterday and I have been unable to reenter my goal. Can anyone enter it for me? My goal is 40 books and my shelf is gcac_2018 . It just keeps turning circles and ends up timing out every time I attempt to enter it. The same with getting into the group. I have been able to access everything else in Goodreads all my groups etc. except this one. Talking about aggravation!

message 2217: by Savanes (new)

Savanes | 2107 comments That's very weird Lynn. There must be a bug of some sort with goodreads?! Maybe you need to empty your cache. I really don't know.

About the challenge, unfortunately we cannot enter it for you. I would gladly do it otherwise.

I hope it works better in the future.

Maybe it's something to do with our names, because I've been having trouble too! lol

More seriously, I don't really have any solutions or explanations for you but I have been having some trouble getting into this group over the past few days .... just thought you might want to know you're not on your own.

Hopefully it's just a temp glitch (I'm guessing it is, because there are times when I can get in) and it will stop doing it soon.

Kristie | 6868 comments Mod
That's so strange. I poked around a bit and can't see anything wrong with your membership or links. As Lynn said, it must be a Goodreads glitch. Hopefully, that's all settled.

As for the challenge, it automatically links to whoever does the signing up, so maybe try it again? Sorry we can't be more help.

message 2220: by Lynn Renee (new)

Lynn Renee | 17 comments Thanks for the help, glad to know I am not alone. It's weird... I can get into a discussion thread now but the home page just won't load. Hopefully it gets better soon.

message 2221: by Vicki Willis (new)

Vicki Willis | 1039 comments That is so frustrating. I have had troubles in the past, but am not having any right now. Good luck Lynn!

message 2222: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) I've been having a weird problem. I update the book status on the main page and it doesn't reflect the current page number. However when I go to the book's page, it's there.

message 2223: by Lynn Renee (new)

Lynn Renee | 17 comments Yay!!!! The group home page finally loaded and I was able to fix my gcac goal. Whoever would have thought that you could have so much stress over a Goodreads page loading. lol

Weird, I don't receive any notifications from goodreads (hence my late reply). Is this happening to anyone else? :S

message 2235: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) Great advice found in a cozy mystery: "we should only be judged on two things: if we're kind, and if we read books"

Happens to me occasionally. It just happened the other day and lasted all day, then they poured in all at once with a notification for each comment. It was a bit of a mess.

message 2238: by Vicki Willis (new)

Vicki Willis | 1039 comments I know I have asked this in the past, but now I can't figure it out again and can't find the thread it was in.

I finished a book and did my review, but I reviews the wrong copy and so it was a duplicate.
I was able to delete the duplicate, but I screwed up the READ date and now I have that I read it twice. I want to adjust that so I deleted the second read by date, but it doesn't have the first date.

HOW do I delete a "status update"? I want to have record of when I put it on the TBR, so I don't want to just delete the book and start over.
Any help would be appreciated.

message 2239: by Lynn, Moderator (new)

Lynn | 4485 comments Mod
Go to your review and then click edit, which is at the top right.

The next to the dates there is a X beside each date, which you can delete whichever one you want.
I've noticed that sometimes it doesn't always register and you have to do it numerous times before it does.

Did you have a book that you were wanted to buddy read with someone, Judy? I didn't see your post over there. This is the link to buddy reads, if that's what you're trying to do: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

If you just wanted to connect with people and chat about whatever, then this is the thread to do that in. :)
