I can't get the audiobooks from my library's overdrive because they don't work with my Mac. I have downloaded from other places, but there is something that won't work with the library.

Thanks for the heads up on the Audible sale...I'm going to pick up a few titles too! :) I definitely recommend Uglies. I haven't read/listened to Shatter Me but I love the narrator (I'm going to get that title myself). Leviathan is another great book! I agree with Lynn, Scott Westerfeld is just a wonderful storyteller. :)

Alycia - Have you read the Midnighter series then? If not, then you should if you're a Westerfeld fan.

message 1354: by Alycia (new)

Alycia (bookhound18) I haven't yet. I've looked at them a million times, but couldn't decide if I wanted to read them or not. I'm not sure why I've been so hesitant since I love everything I've read by him! I'll add them to my tbr. :)

message 1355: by Alycia (new)

Alycia (bookhound18) Kristie- I know you don't have this on your list but one that's great and I saw was on the sale is: Her Royal Spyness (Her Royal Spyness Mysteries, #1) by Rhys Bowen . The narrator is wonderful!

Alycia (bookhound18) lol Lynn...It had to have been a fluke incident cause you've never lead me astray before. ;)

Thanks for the recommendations Alycia!

message 1362: by Alycia (new)

Alycia (bookhound18) You're welcome, Kristie! I noticed you mentioned that you can't get audiobooks from Overdrive for your Mac. I had the same problem but discovered that if I needed to download the Overdrive media console. It should have a link right on the library site. :)

I have it. I've gotten books through SYNC that way, but for some reason there's a glitch with the library.

message 1364: by Alycia (new)

Alycia (bookhound18) Bummer :(

message 1365: by [deleted user] (new)

So, what do you do on days you are "snowed in" - in addition to reading?

message 1366: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh, forgot to ask. What is a good book to snuggle and read?

message 1367: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) Does anyone use the GR app for Kindle? My pc died and have been using the app half the time and the website the other half. Neither one is really totally ideal.

message 1368: by Lynn, Moderator (new)

Lynn | 4471 comments Mod
I've always just kept to the website on the kindle because I got the impression that the app is limited.

message 1369: by Christine (new)

Christine Hatfield (christinesbookshelves) | 800 comments I'm reading the longest ride by Nicholas sparks and that's a very good book

I use the Kindle app frequently, but as Lynn says, it has some limitations. You cannot reply to other people's posts, and you cannot edit your own posts, for example. So, here I am replying on my PC using the website.

Savanes | 2107 comments I really, really need to read more. :( or try audible.
I have two new hobbies (please don't laugh): knitting and sewing that take all my free time. I'm just plainly addicted to creating clothing and accessories with my own hands. Plus my boyfriend just bought me a sewing machine for my birthday/valentines day (perfect gift). I've started 3 GREAT books last months and I haven't even finished one! :S :S :S
Ok enough with my random rambling.

I hate when that happens! You really want to finish the book, but don't have the time to read it. I do that all the time. I have I think 4-5 books that I have started and put aside because I just don't have the time. Then, I pick up a new one because I somehow think I'll have time to finish it.

New hobbies are great too. I used to sew a lot, but I never caught on to knitting. My mom crochets, so I may try that again.

If you like audio books, definitely try that. Lately, I have gotten through more audios in the car than I have paper or kindle books.

message 1373: by Savanes (new)

I would have thought audio books would work alongside your new hobby Vanessa.

So I need a favour people!
Does anyone know which NA Book this is from:

You were every bit as stubborn as I was, maybe even more, and that scared the shit out of me. The thought of someone like you getting close to me, close enough to hurt, was too much. And I couldn't deal with it.

If it doesn't ring a bell, suggestions of where to look to find out this kind of thing?

I don't know. Is there a way you can search in the quotes section of goodreads? Maybe put in a portion of the quote and see what comes up?

message 1378: by Lynn, Moderator (new)

Lynn | 4471 comments Mod
I did that and it didn't really help .... the options you get are paragraphs long, tried to check as many as I can but I don't really have the time to read them all.

message 1381: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) Doing great! My new computer showed up. So glad to use a keyboard. I was amazed at how much I could do with my Kindle Fire, but it's no replacement for a proper computer.

Hope all of you are keeping warm and safe. It's nice here in Kennewick, WA - but I know there was a bad storm back East.

Have you guys heard of Spritz? New technology coming out that increases your reading speed. What do you think about it?

You can read about it and even try it out here: http://www.gizmag.com/spritz-speed-re...

✿ ♥ Heather ♥ ✿ (frangiegal) | 181 comments Hi Kristie I saw that Spritz thing through FB. It does look amazing but how do you pause without missing anything ?

message 1389: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 6832 comments Mod
I don't know, Heather. I assume it will have a pause button just as Audible does and that you can back up a bit to repeat if needed. I love the idea because I am such a slow reader. I will never be able to read everything on my TBR. I think if you don't go too fast, you can still add all your own intonations, etc. I also think there will still be many books that you want to read in paper or ebook form, just as some books are good for audio and not others. I'm curious to see if it takes off or not.

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments Wow, I think it is possible to withstand this type of reading mode only for a short time, I have just read the article and tried to watch the words for less then half a minute and I feel like my eyes are full of flashes. But definitely it is quick, so all in all, for some specific text and over a short period of time at one sitting, it can be really effective in my opinion.
Thank, Kristie for posting this link. It is a very interesting startup, definitely worth observing :)

Kirsten (kmcripn) Sorry, I've been gone everyone. Some of you may know one of my dogs had been ill of late. I am sad to announce that CiCi is now chasing squirrels and cats in heaven. She died early Sunday at home.

Thanks to all who kept her in their hearts and prayers. I will miss her greatly.

message 1400: by Portia (new)

Portia Kirsten, you have my sincere sympathy. I am sure CiCi will find lots of new smells to keep her busy until you cross The Rainbow Bridge and see her again.
