ally ¯\(ツ)/¯ (allykennedy) | 1002 comments I wanted a bookish wallpaper for my computer.
I found this beauty in my search.
I thought I would share it.
Just to be clear, I did not make it.

At least holidays were extended...

Thanks guys.

I had a lovely day yesterday, my Mum came to see me and took me out for lunch. I had a quiet evening because the main drinking celebrations are tonight and tomorrow night.

Out with various friends and will be drinking lots of Presecco :)

It is ridiculously easy to download books and you do indeed increase the amount you read :)

Congrats on your new Kindle, Cherene! I absolutely love mine and yes, Lynn, having it does exponentially increase the amount of books you read. The trick, Cherene, is to keep an eye out for book deals on Amazon. If you subscribe to the "Kindle Daily Deals" emails and check out the other cheap deals, you can feed your book habit without going too broke! :-D

message 1271: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments I totally agree on both easy, and possible to buy cheap!! I love my Kindle and since I've got it last year, I've read more than 100 books until now!

message 1272: by Cherene (last edited Jan 17, 2014 03:10PM) (new)

Cherene | 4 comments I have already read the kids a picture book off it.

I found a converter to convert my ebooks to mobi. That might help. I just found The Rosie Project for 3.99 the other day. Amazon wanted 8.99.

Lorrie (lorrier) My daughter is borrowing my kindle right now because she's reading the Divergent series on it. I am fit to be tied. I don't know what to do with myself. I'm reading paperbacks and listening to audios...having withdrawals! This is horrible. I' giving her a time limit. If she doesn't finish in four days, I'm taking it anyway!

message 1286: by Angela M (new)

Angela M Lol ! I would be having withdrawal too , Lorrie. I just love my kindle . I got the new kindle Paperwhite for Christmas . It's my third kindle .

message 1287: by Lorrie (new)

Lorrie (lorrier) I'm only on my 2nd. I could buy my daughter a kindle for her birthday. That would solve my problem. Kind of expensive though. This one is a used one from Amazon and I really love it. How do you like your paperwhite?

message 1288: by Angela M (new)

Angela M I like it a lot , the screen is so much easier to read . One drawback is that the battery life is not as long as the kindle touch . You can adjust the light in the screen but like it kind of bright - aging eyes! So I just charge it more often .

message 1289: by Lorrie (new)

Lorrie (lorrier) Ok, that will be my own personal next kindle.

That would be nice if I could transfer all of my books I haven't read yet onto the new kindle. What do you think?

message 1294: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 6832 comments Mod
You can transfer the ones that you got through Amazon. I'm not sure about any others though, unless you have them saved on your computer where you can upload them again.

Of course you can! When you get the new one, you just need to register it with your account and all your books will be on it. I think you will even have the page you're on. Well I think that's how it works! :)

If they were uploaded through send to kindle, I think it also works. It needs to be checked though.

message 1297: by Cherene (last edited Jan 18, 2014 02:45PM) (new)

Cherene | 4 comments All the ebooks that I had on my computer I just copied from my computer and put them on to my kindle through the documents folder.

You could, if need be, copy the files from your Kindle to a PC drive and then copy them from your PC to the new Kindle.

All you need to do is plug the new Kindle in and drag the files from your computer to the folder "documents" that shows up with your kindle.

You can do the exact same process to move them to your PC.

The other ebooks you bought from Amazon will automatically be on there if they're saved to your Cloud.

It's a good trick when you find cheaper ebooks at other places besides Amazon, but still want to read them on your Kindle.

message 1298: by Cherene (new)

Cherene | 4 comments I spent 10-15 minutes downloading browsers and apps that let me run flash yesterday too, since Androids no longer support it. Albiet, they're working pretty good on some sights - such as Youtube.

Only problem is, since Amazon doesn't recommend it, you void any warranty that you may have if these apps cause damage.

message 1299: by Alycia (new)

Alycia (bookhound18) Thanks everyone! I had a wonderful day! :)

message 1300: by Cherene (last edited Jan 19, 2014 09:44PM) (new)

Cherene | 4 comments I GOT IT! If you're not interested in cheap Ebooks, feel free to skip over my ramblings.

I've been trying to figure out a way to read as much as I do (5+ books a month usually) and not break my bank account, which is small and dwindling as it is. I was afraid, with my amazing Kindle, I would start doing just that so... I figured out the cheaper way to do it and thought I'd share, just in case someone else needs the help.

I found a site called: luzme.com

It's a site that compares Ebook prices at random places. If you sign up, add the books you want to your watchlist, and then set your "buying limit" - I'm cheap, mine's $5 - then you can watch for when your books get deals (assuming you can wait) or lower in price.

Even with the 20 I put on there I already found Orphan Train and A Constellation of Vital Phenomena for 4.99.

The best part is you can choose the stores (by country) you want to see from your settings (after you get an account).

Anyway, back to your regularly scheduled chat...

The buying limit is solely in my mind, by the way. There is no setting for this. They should put one on there though to alert you if it goes under a certain price.
