Jojo (jojosbooknook) | 717 comments I had to point out to her that if he'd hit me I'd be the one to leave, not the other way round! Her concern was kind of sweet!

Yep, waaaaaaay too much testosterone!!! That and they act like a bunch of 5 year olds!! Next game is really just for fun...who cares who came 3rd?! Lol!

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments Love your new pic Joanne!!

How was Word on the Street? Did you enjoy it?

message 1003: by Jojo (new)

Jojo (jojosbooknook) | 717 comments Thank you!! It's from my birthday party!!

It was good, I got a few freebies, I haven't actually looked at many of them. Just one badly written/designed cookbook which I may send back with corrections! It's the English major in me!!

How was your retreat?

message 1004: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments The retreat was wonderful; I came back so rested and relaxed on Sunday that I didn't want to do anything until Tuesday, lol! I met a whole bunch of new friends from all over Ontario and spent time with them and cherished known friends eating good food, laughing and not taking ourselves so seriously, lol

Thank you Haidji! And a great day to you too. :)

message 1006: by Jojo (new)

Jojo (jojosbooknook) | 717 comments That's great Cathie!!

I officially have the strangest kid in the world. She didn't feel good this morning and asked to stay home from school, an hour ago she asked to go to school!! I've never met a child that turns down the chance of a sick day complete with movies and ice cream in favour of school!!!

message 1007: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments Lol, you're raising her right Joanne!

message 1008: by Jojo (new)

Jojo (jojosbooknook) | 717 comments I wanted her to stay home....I'm bored!!!! It's funny, yesterday I said to a friend that I wished one of the kids would get sick and stay home so I would have something to do and today one of them was sick, but she's a bigger nerd than me so went to school as soon as she felt better!!

Kristie | 6832 comments Mod
Lol Joanne! Looks like she was bored too! Good for her! :)

message 1010: by Jojo (new)

Jojo (jojosbooknook) | 717 comments We spent the morning playing mastermind and scrabble. Both her choices and lots of fun! I guess she just needed some quiet time.

message 1011: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 6832 comments Mod
Hahaha....aww. I would've stayed home! Good kid. :)

message 1012: by Jojo (new)

Jojo (jojosbooknook) | 717 comments I would have stayed home too!!

message 1013: by Jojo (new)

Jojo (jojosbooknook) | 717 comments Day one of half marathon training is done....only 146 more workouts before the race!! Now I'm too tired to read though...boo!!!

message 1014: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 6832 comments Mod
That's amazing Joanne! I started the C25K program today. I had to walk for 22 minutes and run/jog a total of 8 minutes. I thought I was going to die. I am so not a runner. Hoping to do a 5K, but at this rate I may be walking it. So impressed that you are training so hard for a half marathon!

message 1015: by Jojo (new)

Jojo (jojosbooknook) | 717 comments You can do it!! I started with C25K, but I didn't last long, my aim is more to listen to my body. So sometimes I do 5k straight run and sometimes I do 3 minutes run and then have to walk! I would recommend entering a race now for when you expect to finish the program. It will keep you motivated and give you something to aim for!! Pick one that you get a T-shirt and/or a medal from! Nothing beats the feeling of getting that bling! Keep us updated Kristie!!

message 1016: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments Where do you get the C25K program?

message 1017: by Jojo (new)

Jojo (jojosbooknook) | 717 comments I got mine from app store. I took a free one. You listen to your own music at the same time and a person tells you when to run and when to walk. :)

message 1018: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments Thanks, I'll have to check it out. Now, I remember, you guys discussing it before and someone saying they wanted to choose zombie music for the run part, lol

message 1019: by Jojo (new)

Jojo (jojosbooknook) | 717 comments There is one that tells you a zombie story as you run. You run when the zombies are chasing you!!

message 1020: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments That's my type of program!! DOFLOL

message 1021: by Jojo (new)

Jojo (jojosbooknook) | 717 comments Lol!! I was supposed to do a zombie run this weekend but it got cancelled :(

message 1022: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments What's a zombie run? You run in the dark with scary ugly people chasing you?

message 1023: by Jojo (new)

Jojo (jojosbooknook) | 717 comments Hahahaha!!

It's a 5k, where you are given a belt with 3 lives on it. The aim is to get to the end with at least one life. On the run you are chase by zombies who want to infect you and you have to complete obstacles like a blood pit, smokey maze and electric shocks. It's kind of like a mini Tough Mudder! At the end you either get a survivor medal or an infected medal. It was going to be my 'fun' race! But since it got cancelled my fun race is going to be the Santa Shuffle!

message 1024: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments Were do they hold them. My son is entered in the Tough Mudder race this weekend. He's totally scared about this one; it's tough!@

Where's the Santa Shuffle; what does it involve? Where are you finding out about all these fun themed races?

message 1025: by Jojo (new)

Jojo (jojosbooknook) | 717 comments He may be your son, but he's CRAZY!!!! Have you seen the videos?! My friend wanted to do it, but once I'd actually looked in to it there's not a chance in hell of me signing up!!

Santa shuffle is a 5k race, there's one in Hamilton where you get a santa suit and it's compulsory to wear it!!

http://www.events.runningroom.com/hm/...

That's where I find all my races!

message 1026: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments Yep, I think he knows it; he's scared of this one. He came in 7th in the Mud Hero race in August and he ran the Spartan race in June and did well, but Tough Mudder is a whole different ball game, and he knows it and so do I :-(.

Thanks for the link.

message 1027: by Jojo (new)

Jojo (jojosbooknook) | 717 comments Good luck to him!!! The day I sign up for a Tough Mudder is the day pigs fly!! Lol!

message 1028: by Savanes (new)

Savanes | 2107 comments Here's a zombie race Cathie : http://www.runforyourlives.com/

message 1029: by Savanes (new)

Savanes | 2107 comments I wish they did that kind of races in France... :(
There was this one though (Mud day) but I was too late to register http://www.themudday.com/fr/homepage.... :(

message 1030: by Jojo (new)

Jojo (jojosbooknook) | 717 comments That's the one I was entered in Vanessa! They cancelled two weeks ago without giving a reason, which sucks!

Thanks for the link to the races Joanne! And thanks for the support. I need it! I will definitely sign up for a race where I get something at the end. I want to do a zombie race too. They look so fun!! I think the Tough Mudder and Spartan races look fun too, but there's NO way I could do one of those!

Cathie - I got my app from the app store too and it was free. I tried it a year (or two??) ago and couldn't do it, but I'm trying again. The one with the zombies is called Zombie Run, I think, and I don't think that one's free, but it sounds fun!

A couple of my friends were zombies for a zombie run once! I almost forgot about that. They asked me to do it with them, but I had something going on. I think it might be fun to be a zombie in the race too. lol

message 1039: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments Good luck on your 8k! :-)

message 1040: by Jojo (new)

Jojo (jojosbooknook) | 717 comments Thanks Cathie!!

I did another run today, 4k in 25mins...this is a personal best for me!!! I'm so bouncy and happy right now!!

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments Joanne, congrats on your run results :)

Kristie, I keep my fingers crossed for your running trainings :)

Elly, congrats!

I'm rather concentated on my reading now, but hope to start some sort of exercises next month :)

What are your weekend plans?

message 1042: by Jojo (new)

Jojo (jojosbooknook) | 717 comments I don't have many plans as yet. I may get a much needed hair cut at some point. On Sunday night I have my last softball game (Woohoo...I mean booo!) and then dinner/drinks with the girls after :)

I am planning a library trip tomorrow. :)

Thank you! I'm not sure if running is going to be my kind of exercise, but I'm trying. I have other exercises that I enjoy and some that I'd like to try. I just need to get active again. Do you know what kind of exercises you'd like to try yet?

I'm working Saturday morning, then going out to see La Cage Aux Folles at our local community theater with my partner in the evening. My shift for Sunday was cancelled, so it looks like I'll have some time to catch up on my homework. :) What are your plans Anima?

Good luck at your last game! And have fun at the "after party!" :)

message 1045: by Jojo (new)

Jojo (jojosbooknook) | 717 comments Since the team isn't invited for drinks I'm sure we'll have fun! Lol! I'm glad the season is over as Sunday is my long run day so in a few weeks when the distances increase it wouldn't be fun to play on the same day!

message 1046: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments I think I would like to try running, and for now I gather as much info as possible on how to start without killing yourself LOL.

During this weekend I have a family visit (my hubby's aunt from New York has arrived to Warsaw and we are meeting tomorrow) and I will have my haircut too :), on Monday I start my studies, so I need to prepare a little bit as well.

Joanne, have a nice time during the game and after party :)

Kristie, have a great time watching the play :) and good luck with your homework. (What are you working on for school now?)

Thank you! I am working on a cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) class, a research methods class, and my internship. It is a lot to do all the time! I have just under a year left to get my masters degree in counseling & psychological services. Then 2 more years of training on the job to get my license. (LMHC - Licensed Mental Health Care)

message 1048: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments That's sounds really interesting and intense. I'm a psychologist as well, but for now I'm not working as a therapist, I'm starting studies on American Culture (as I have a degree from linguistics as well :)), I'm still looking for my professional path. I think your studies are fascinating :), all the best with new occupation!

A group of my friends get together yearly for a photo comp. We submit 12 photos in total, but choose one of those photos to put out for "public" voting. It would be great if you could take 2 seconds to vote for your favourite photo:
