Thank you!! It's from my birthday party!!It was good, I got a few freebies, I haven't actually looked at many of them. Just one badly written/designed cookbook which I may send back with corrections! It's the English major in me!!
How was your retreat?
The retreat was wonderful; I came back so rested and relaxed on Sunday that I didn't want to do anything until Tuesday, lol! I met a whole bunch of new friends from all over Ontario and spent time with them and cherished known friends eating good food, laughing and not taking ourselves so seriously, lol
That's great Cathie!!I officially have the strangest kid in the world. She didn't feel good this morning and asked to stay home from school, an hour ago she asked to go to school!! I've never met a child that turns down the chance of a sick day complete with movies and ice cream in favour of school!!!
I wanted her to stay home....I'm bored!!!! It's funny, yesterday I said to a friend that I wished one of the kids would get sick and stay home so I would have something to do and today one of them was sick, but she's a bigger nerd than me so went to school as soon as she felt better!!
We spent the morning playing mastermind and scrabble. Both her choices and lots of fun! I guess she just needed some quiet time.
Day one of half marathon training is done....only 146 more workouts before the race!! Now I'm too tired to read though...boo!!!
That's amazing Joanne! I started the C25K program today. I had to walk for 22 minutes and run/jog a total of 8 minutes. I thought I was going to die. I am so not a runner. Hoping to do a 5K, but at this rate I may be walking it. So impressed that you are training so hard for a half marathon!
You can do it!! I started with C25K, but I didn't last long, my aim is more to listen to my body. So sometimes I do 5k straight run and sometimes I do 3 minutes run and then have to walk! I would recommend entering a race now for when you expect to finish the program. It will keep you motivated and give you something to aim for!! Pick one that you get a T-shirt and/or a medal from! Nothing beats the feeling of getting that bling! Keep us updated Kristie!!
I got mine from app store. I took a free one. You listen to your own music at the same time and a person tells you when to run and when to walk. :)
Thanks, I'll have to check it out. Now, I remember, you guys discussing it before and someone saying they wanted to choose zombie music for the run part, lol
Hahahaha!!It's a 5k, where you are given a belt with 3 lives on it. The aim is to get to the end with at least one life. On the run you are chase by zombies who want to infect you and you have to complete obstacles like a blood pit, smokey maze and electric shocks. It's kind of like a mini Tough Mudder! At the end you either get a survivor medal or an infected medal. It was going to be my 'fun' race! But since it got cancelled my fun race is going to be the Santa Shuffle!
Were do they hold them. My son is entered in the Tough Mudder race this weekend. He's totally scared about this one; it's tough!@Where's the Santa Shuffle; what does it involve? Where are you finding out about all these fun themed races?
He may be your son, but he's CRAZY!!!! Have you seen the videos?! My friend wanted to do it, but once I'd actually looked in to it there's not a chance in hell of me signing up!!Santa shuffle is a 5k race, there's one in Hamilton where you get a santa suit and it's compulsory to wear it!!

That's where I find all my races!
Yep, I think he knows it; he's scared of this one. He came in 7th in the Mud Hero race in August and he ran the Spartan race in June and did well, but Tough Mudder is a whole different ball game, and he knows it and so do I :-(.Thanks for the link.
I wish they did that kind of races in France... :(There was this one though (Mud day) but I was too late to register http://www.themudday.com/fr/homepage.... :(
That's the one I was entered in Vanessa! They cancelled two weeks ago without giving a reason, which sucks!

Vanessa wrote: "Here's a zombie race Cathie : http://www.runforyourlives.com/"That looks so cool!!! I've got to try one out!!
Joanne, here's one in Huntsville ~ October 19th. I know I can take a bus to Huntsville from Toronto!http://www.running-scared.com/
Thanks for the link to the races Joanne! And thanks for the support. I need it! I will definitely sign up for a race where I get something at the end. I want to do a zombie race too. They look so fun!! I think the Tough Mudder and Spartan races look fun too, but there's NO way I could do one of those!
Cathie - I got my app from the app store too and it was free. I tried it a year (or two??) ago and couldn't do it, but I'm trying again. The one with the zombies is called Zombie Run, I think, and I don't think that one's free, but it sounds fun!

A couple of my friends were zombies for a zombie run once! I almost forgot about that. They asked me to do it with them, but I had something going on. I think it might be fun to be a zombie in the race too. lol
Thanks Cathie!!I did another run today, 4k in 25mins...this is a personal best for me!!! I'm so bouncy and happy right now!!
Joanne, congrats on your run results :)Kristie, I keep my fingers crossed for your running trainings :)
Elly, congrats!
I'm rather concentated on my reading now, but hope to start some sort of exercises next month :)
What are your weekend plans?
I don't have many plans as yet. I may get a much needed hair cut at some point. On Sunday night I have my last softball game (Woohoo...I mean booo!) and then dinner/drinks with the girls after :)I am planning a library trip tomorrow. :)
Thank you! I'm not sure if running is going to be my kind of exercise, but I'm trying. I have other exercises that I enjoy and some that I'd like to try. I just need to get active again. Do you know what kind of exercises you'd like to try yet?
I'm working Saturday morning, then going out to see La Cage Aux Folles at our local community theater with my partner in the evening. My shift for Sunday was cancelled, so it looks like I'll have some time to catch up on my homework. :) What are your plans Anima?

Good luck at your last game! And have fun at the "after party!" :)

Since the team isn't invited for drinks I'm sure we'll have fun! Lol! I'm glad the season is over as Sunday is my long run day so in a few weeks when the distances increase it wouldn't be fun to play on the same day!
I think I would like to try running, and for now I gather as much info as possible on how to start without killing yourself LOL. During this weekend I have a family visit (my hubby's aunt from New York has arrived to Warsaw and we are meeting tomorrow) and I will have my haircut too :), on Monday I start my studies, so I need to prepare a little bit as well.
Joanne, have a nice time during the game and after party :)
Kristie, have a great time watching the play :) and good luck with your homework. (What are you working on for school now?)
Thank you! I am working on a cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) class, a research methods class, and my internship. It is a lot to do all the time! I have just under a year left to get my masters degree in counseling & psychological services. Then 2 more years of training on the job to get my license. (LMHC - Licensed Mental Health Care)
That's sounds really interesting and intense. I'm a psychologist as well, but for now I'm not working as a therapist, I'm starting studies on American Culture (as I have a degree from linguistics as well :)), I'm still looking for my professional path. I think your studies are fascinating :), all the best with new occupation!
PssstA group of my friends get together yearly for a photo comp. We submit 12 photos in total, but choose one of those photos to put out for "public" voting. It would be great if you could take 2 seconds to vote for your favourite photo:
