Kristie...Maine would be great...you can read anytime. I lived there for a while and loved my time there.

Yes, Scott. I love Maine. We've taken some weekend holidays up there and it's a lovely place to read on the beach. However, this time we'd be visiting old friends that I only get to see once or twice a year. I'm sure we'll be chatting the whole time. They might think I was rude if I snuck away to catch up on my reading the whole time! ;)

Kristie...lol...no...I meant you can read another weekend...but dont always have the chance to visit old friends.
Oh! Hahaha...that makes more sense. :) Hoping it doesn't rain, so we can enjoy some time outdoors.
They had a huge book festival in Atlanta this weekend and I went. Got to see panels with lots of cool authors! I also got signatures on
:)
Wow, Karlee, that is a great gain, those signatures, I would like to have those of Yancey and Bardugo :)
The kids go back to school tomorrow and I must admit I'm incredibly happy to get back to my 'normal' routine! No doubt by the end of September I will miss them being home, but at least this way I won't be exhausted at the end of the day and can go back to reading until silly o'clock!I had a pretty good weekend, spent sometimes with some great friends (and not so great ones), spent some time just me and also discovered that there is a writers festival in Toronto in a few weeks. There will be over 200 Canadian authors there and I'm excited to go :)
Happy Labour Day everyone!!!

I completely understand the great (& not so great) friends. :)
That is so exciting about the book festival! I would love to go to a huge festival with well-known authors.

I think I may have learned a lesson in respect to certain "friends' but at least I have plenty of others who are amazing and supportive (incl my invisible ones in my laptop!) :)I'm incredibly excited, even though I don't recognise most of the authors! I'm currently asking everyone I know if they want to come, in the hopes that at least one person will!!
I thought I'd replied to this!! I think so. It's the Toronto Writers Festival and I'm pretty sure it's Random House :)
It's almost the weekend!! Yay!! My three day week has seemed incredibly long! What does everyone have planned for the weekend? Mine is busy, tomorrow is my birthday party!! Then on Sunday I have brunch, a 4year olds birthday party and softball followed by drinks :) I'm going to need a weekend to recover! Lol!
♫ HaPpY bIrThDaY tO yOu!! ♫ Hope you have a great weekend!
I am having a yardsale at my mom's house tomorrow morning, then going out with some friends tomorrow night and catching up on some work Sunday. Busy, busy. :)

I'm actually sick and exhausted in bed with fever. This is gonna be one long weekend :(
Happy birthday,Joanne :)
Joanne, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!! All the best, and hope your wishes will come true. Have a great time celebrating and make yourself some nice present :DI have a fairly quiet weekend, hope to catch up with some reading.

And yes, Queens Park on the 22nd. Will I see you there??Thanks guys :)
Anima, I got myself a nice big bottle of alcohol...does that count?! ;)

Happy Birthday Joanne!
I spent the weekend down south at a couple of good friends wedding. Brilliant time but now feeling a lot delicate.

My son just came home from a publisher's event with a signed copy of Joyce Maynard's new book for me: After Her
I have the best grown son! In it she drew a picture of herself and wrote out a passage saying I'm a mother of a thoughtful son and she is the mother of two. (It's true; i am :-) )
Aww...that's so sweet of him! Sounds like you raised a wonderful son. :)
And the book sounds good too. Lucky lady!

Wishing everyone happy reading this weekend! I am off to a Women's Spiritual Retreat and will be back Sunday night. Have a great weekend :-)
Have fun Cathie! I have absolutely no plans tomorrow, maybe a coffee date, but I haven't decided yet. No plans means lots of reading time :)
Sunday I'm going to Word on the Street in Toronto and then I have a softball game...we made the playoffs so if we win we'll be in the final next week.

Congrats on making the playoffs! Have a great time and let us know how your team does. :)
Joanne, I'm might be back in time to catch some of The Word on the Street. It should be awesome, and I was suppose to be a part of a Children's Story Mob group I belong to, but I forgot about going away, lol.If I get back in time, I will message you and perhaps we can meet up :-)
If not have a wonderful time and get in those playoffs!! :-)
Thanks! I'm not so sure we'll do that well....too many man-children on the team. They frequently have tantrums when it's not going the way they want. It's actually funny to watch (and a little embarrassing!).Sure if you get back in time send me a message. I'll have my phone with me :)
Cathie, have a great time during your retreat. That sounds like something I could organise and participate, maybe soon :)Joanne, I keep my fingers crossed for the success of your team. Go get them LOL
I have a family weekend ahead. The weather is going to be nice so we are catching the last warm days, and go to gather some chestnuts and fallen leaves as autumn is approaching :) The parks are really beautiful this time of the year in Poland, all autumnal colours are there :)
So we lost our game by 1! Which was to be expected, too many over grown kids who spent too much time arguing with the other team than actually playing! And I got hit by the ball again, but luckily it's on my leg, so no black eye this time and no being asked by my 10 year old if I was abused! Yay!!
Wow, hope next time will be better, Joanne, and I understand your relief with the ball hitting LOL, there are some many strange questions kids can think of :)
She assumed that my break up was due to abuse and my black eye was proof. It was just coincidence that it was the same weekend! We have one more game, this time for 3rd place...hopefully they won't choke again!!

lol What a coincidence! I can just see you trying to convince her that is was really from softball.
Bummer about the game. (Was their testosterone getting in the way? lol That happens.) Hopefully, the next game goes better and the arguing doesn't get worse due to the stress of it all.

We had plans to go to a lake in Maine. Some family friends own a house there and I haven't been in years. It would not be much fun to sit up there while it rains. But if we end up staying home, you're right, it will be the perfect time to do some reading. :)

That sounds wonderful! Enjoy your day.
Lynn wrote: "My plans are work and more work :(
September is my busiest time of the year, I don't get to play at all ..... I'm tired, stressed and hoping it was October."
Sorry to hear that Lynn! I'm working a bunch too, so I feel your pain. Hope your festival goes well.

Thank you Anima! I hope so too! :)
